Application range: Helicheck Basic 2 Optical 3-axis CNC measuring machine with the best price-performance ratio on the market The Helicheck Basic 2 has been designed for the measurement of complex profiles or shapes and for reliable control of critical measurements such as diameter, step lengths or runout. With a precision backlight camera and 50x (optionally 100x) enlargement, this measuring machine is ideal for challenging measuring tasks within a diameter range of up to 320 mm and a maximum length of 420 mm (from the taper gauge line). The targeted feedback provided by the measurement results can be used for the reliable and accurate set-up of the grinding and processing machines. Fully automatic measurement of grinding wheels is also possible. The Basic 2 is offered in two accuracy classes: Length deviation according to VDI/VDE 2617, E1 = (2,0 + L/300) μm and a repeat accuracy of < 1,5 μm (optionally E1 = (1,4 + L/300) μm and < 1 μm repeat accuracy for a reduced measuring range of < 25 mm and 100x enlargement). In addition the option of the swivel-mounted viewing optics enables the manual inspection of the cutting-edges in front light and end face geometries in top light. Application range: Helicheck Basic 3 Optical 4-axis CNC measuring machine for challenging measuring tasks The Helicheck Basic 3 has been designed for the non-contact complete measurement of precision tools with all types of complex geometries. All of the relevant inspection parameters are measured fully automatically using permanently installed cameras which replace the classic measuring instruments such as profile projectors and measuring microscopes. The measurement of rotationally symmetrical production parts and grinding wheels is also possible. Repeatable, user-independent measurement provides security and saves time and money. Recurrent measuring tasks are saved in the system and can be repeated any number of times. In transmitted light (magnification = 50x, optionally 100x), measurements can be made in the standard range from ø 2 to 100 mm and in the extended measuring range from ø 100 to 320 mm. The magnification is 100x for incident light measurements on the end face and peripheral side up to a max. length of 320 mm. Length deviation according to VDI/VDE 2617 is E1 = (2,0 + L/300) μm at a repeat accuracy of < 1,5 μm (optionally E1 = (1,4 + L/300) μm and < 1 μm repeat accuracy for a reduced measuring range of < 25 mm and 100x enlargement).

Certified accuracy According to VDI/VDE 2617, the accuracy of a measuring machine is evaluated by various measurements at various positions on a certified measurement standard. WALTER uses a certified stepped plug gauge or optionally a glass scale for increased accuracy. The standard calls for at least three measurements. WALTER performs ten measurements. The high accuracy of the glass measuring scale is certified by the calibration certificate from the Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (Germany s national metrology institute). Length deviation 3C Direct View Helicheck Basic 3, directly to the result with permanently installed measuring cameras The absence of moving parts in the optics system guarantees high stability and measuring accuracy and is the basis for the optimal evaluation of the image. The glass scales in the linear axes and the high-performance CNC control system guarantee the best possible positioning accuracy as the basis for the most precise measurements. The positioning resolution is 0,05 μm. Modern lighting technology The special lighting concept, consisting of telecentric transmitted lighting and/or LED segment light for the end face and incident light view on the Helicheck Basic 3, emphasises even the minutest details of all geometries and establishes the ideal conditions for precise measurements. The lighting for all views is optimally adapted to the reflection properties of metallic surfaces. Manufacturers of measuring machines define a maximum limit value for machines of a certain type and thus guarantee that when conducting measurements any resulting deviations in the measured value compared to the calibrated value may only, in the worst case scenario, be the same as the limit value, but they are generally better. This limit value is referred to as length deviation E. When deciding which machine to buy, the different accuracy values of the each of the machines is an important way to compare different manufacturers. 4 Helicheck Basic 2 and Helicheck Basic 3 Options for special requirements for the optimum expansion of the application range Full cover option The full cover completely protects the measuring area from the ingress of dust, extraneous light and environmental influences and also guarantees high temperature resistance. The measuring machine provides even more security due to the closed construction, as no direct access to the active working area is possible during measurement. Work station stand option At our customers request we optionally offer the work station stand for the screen, keyboard, and printer. Choose for yourself if you prefer our ergonomic work station solution or your own existing solutions. Interchangeable spindle option A precision adapter measuring spindle is available for different clamping system tapers. The adapter can easily be changed in seconds without additional set-up time. The following adapters are available: ISO 50/40 HSK 100/80/63/50/40/32 Capto C4/C5/C6/C8 VDI 30 mm Other adapters available upon request Between Centres option Some tools or rotationally symmetrical parts are produced between centres because of the technical requirements involved and in order to achieve a high level of concentricity accuracy. This also applies to the measuring process. A high-precision between centres holder is available for this purpose and can be configured with positive or negative centres. It is mounted on the A-axis involving a short set-up and presetting procedure, and ensures the best possible concentricity on the measuring machine.

All relevant tool parameters are automatically measured with back-light and top-light camera technology. Once they are generated, the measuring routines can be repeated as often as desired.
