Tidelands Photography Club July/Aug 2018 Photography Contest Macro Beginner
Beginner Inner Mag 12 The center should be sharper. Possiby could have been sharper with a higher fstop.
Beginner Resting Tree Frog 10 The frog is the subject and is blurry. Top left corner is distracting. Good try.
Beginner Mister Grasshopper 14 Lighting is a little strange. Two brown lines at the top draw the eye away fom the subject. Focus is excellent.
Tidelands Photography Club July/Aug 2018 Photography Contest Macro Intermediate
Intermediate Bee-Utiful Landing 13 Nice shot. The picture should have been tighter because the background is distracting.
Intermediate Rose Droplet 12 Good idea but the limb is over sharpened to the point of producing artifacts on the sides
Intermediate Sunflower 13 Nice subject. The shadow below the bee is a little distracting. The flower is mostly sharp.
Intermediate Shell 8 Nothing is sharp. The subject looks interesting if it was sharp.
Intermediate Pink Peony 14 Could have been a little sharper. The composition was excellent and the colors and treatment was good.
Intermediate Macro 14 Nice picture. If we had that picture we would have repaired those yellow spots at the bottomwe like the sharpness of the overall picture.
Intermediate Yellow Beauty 14 Excellent photo. It could be a little sharper.
Intermediate Hidden Beauty 11 Great idea but the picture should be sharper.
Intermediate Flower Power 12 The moth and flower are great. The rest of the flower is very distracting. Have you tried to burn the light spots so they are lesas distracting?
Intermediate Hydrangea 11 The front flower is sharp but the other are distracting. Use another composition to get rid of distractions.
Intermediate Red Blossom 11 The center of the flower should be sharp but it is not. Composition should be tighter. The large background is distracting.
Tidelands Photography Club July/Aug 2018 Photography Contest Macro Advanced
Advanced Lost an Antenna 12 The picture does not have enough of it infocus.
Advanced Maters on the Vine 13 Nice sharp photo but it does not really qualify as a macro photo.
Advanced Bee Happy 13 Excellent. I think we all struggle with sharpness in macro photography. Perhaps a higher f stop would have made the petals a little less distracting.
Advanced Abstract 14 The idea is very good. Can it be any sharper?
Advanced Raindrops 13 Not a bad photo. It just does ot have enough of a wow factor to score higher
Tidelands Photography Club July/Aug 2018 Photography Contest Open
Open Waterlily 11 The idea for the picture was good. It shows signs of being overworked. Look at the highlites around it.
Open Birds of Prey 14 Unusual treatment in this picture. It really makes a portrait look for the birds. Our only complaint is the feathers are not as sharp as we would like to see.
Open Butterfly 12 Colorful picture. The colors of black and yellow are nice but this picture has so many spots of yellow that it makes the photo to busy. It probably would look better cropped in tighter.
Open Hummingbird 14 Nice hummer. The head is sharp but the body is a little soft.
Open Magnolia Blossom 13 Nice Magnolia picture. The center of the flower should be sharp and it isn't. The color difference draws the eye in like it is supposed to.
Open To Us 14 Nice picture, the idea was great. We found the line running through the picture to be distracting. Can it lightend a little? The guy also has the overlay in the back of the head which is a little distracting.
Open Hunting Island Breaker 13 Nice picture of the breaker. We think the picture could have been worked a little more. Try darkening the clouds slightly which will give a totally different look to the picture.
Open Anhinga Grooming 14 The head is nice and sharp. The black and white of the body draws the eye in and the body appears to not be as sharp as the head.
Open Gator Crossing 14 The gator is nice and sharp. We think the picture could be cropped and cleaned up a little bit.
Open Bare Branches 12 Nice picture but it does not have much of a wow factor.
Open Fire 13 Love the fire coming out of the cannon. It looks like you were trying to zoom in a little to much. The feet were cut off of the people and a portion of the cannon wheel.
Open Catch of the Day 13 Nice subject. The fish and bird are in action which is facinating. Our score was held back because of not being sharp enough.
Open Golden Sunrise 13 Excellent potential. We feel that it could be a real winner if you backed up a little so the leaves were in the frame and if you could get rid of the lens flare in the grass.
Open Regal Eagle 12 Eagles are beautiful to take pictures of. The rocks appear to be more in focus than the bird. Since the sky is not interesting why not crop in closer.
Open Red Bridge 12 Nice colorful scene.the big branch going across the top breaks the picture up. Could another angle maybe eliminate the problem?
Open Otter 11 This is a cute little guy. I think the exposure was not set properly.
Open Arches N.P. 12 Nice subject. The white vignette also works. Some of the picture has a halo around it and overall the picture is very noisy. Do you use a noise reduction program? The first thing we do is run noise reduction.
Open King Vulture 13 A face that only a mother could love. The face is nice and sharp but the neck is fuzzy. The picture could be cropped where only the head is visible and it would score higher.
Open Sunset 14 Nice sunset. The picture could be cropped in a lot truly making the sunset the subject of the picture.
The picture is really to small to properly judge Open Bluebird 12
Tidelands Photography Club July/Aug 2018 Photography Contest 15
Intermediate Dragonfly 15 Excellent photo. We like the way the Dragonfly and the stem are both sharp.
Intermediate Nautilus Shell 15 Excelent composition. Everything is sharp. Even though it is white we don'tr see any blow out.
Really a nice macro photo. Advanced Need More Pollen 15
Advanced Magnolia Blossom Intimacy 15 Nice photo. It has interest and color to attract you.
Open Gone Fishing 15 Great picture in difficult circumstances.
Open Chihuly at Biltmore 15 Very colorful and the eye is drawn into the picture.
Open Day Break at Bulls Island 15 Great picture. The sunrise is good and the reflection of the tree in the water is outstanding.
