Erickson YWCA Photograph Collection consists of professional and personal photographs of and taken by Erickson. The collection also includes postcards of places where she worked and visited. The photographs document YWCA programs and activities that included Erickson, her colleagues, friends, and YWCA members. The known dates of the collection are from 1902 to 1917, but most photographs are undated. Erickson worked for the YWCA when it became a pioneer in providing women's health initiatives, basic life skills, and social and cultural enrichment. Biography Esther M. Erickson was an administrator for the YWCA (Young Women s Christian Association) in the th early decades of the 20 century. Some of her positions included secretary of extension work in Minneapolis, ; general secretary in Wichita, ; general secretary in Honolulu, 1912-?; and state director in Iowa for war work during World War I.
