1 JCS ICLM SPRING PROJECT WEEK & ART SHOWCASE

2 INTRO During JCS ICLM Spring Project Week, students will learn about a visual or performance artist of their choosing, the artist s style and create an original piece of artwork inspired by the selected artist. Visual art pieces, composed music/lyrics, choreography, and filmmaking are examples of appropriate students products.

3 SPRING PROJECT WEEK & ART SHOWCASE SCHEDULE April 3-7 JCS ICLM SPRING PROJECT WEEK Students must complete all project requirements to receive full credit. Projects should reflect appox. 20 hours of work. Siblings may select the same artist, but each child must complete their own research paper and create their own piece of art. MONDAY, APRIL 10th ART PROJECT & HOME STUDY DUE Art projects and home study are due on this day. Teachers will be evaluating the projects to determine if they have the value of 5 days of homeschool. TUESDAY, APRIL 1:45 p.m. ART PROJECT SHOWCASE Student, parents, and families are invited to view the projects in a gallery-style viewing celebration.

4 YOU RE INVITED! Art Showcase April 11 1:45-3 pm Join us for this open house evening event. Come dressed to impress! Art work and research papers will be on display. Unless student presentation is integral to the project (ex. Composed music), students will not be presenting their artwork Families may visit the Art Showcase between 1:45pm-3pm

5 Art Project requirements PART 1: SELECT AN ARTIST PART 2: RESEARCH REPORT PART 3: CREATE ART Students will select an artist of their choosing Students will write a research report that includes the following: Students will create a work of art. Choose one of the following: {examples on next slide} meets grade-level expectations graphic organizer rough draft written final draft (K-2) typed final draft (3-5) create a replica of the artist s work create an original piece in the style of the artist * Scroll through the slideshow for specific requirements per grade level.
