Materials included Turn your drawings into three-dimensional tiles. Whether you have worked with clay or not you will learn how to make low relief tiles for any setting. Create your very own tile set. Handbuilding with Savannah Kramer Class: Thursdays, 10:00 am-1:00 pm January 11-March 1, (8 weeks) Open Studio: Fridays, 10:00 am-1:00 pm $250 member $265 nonmember. Materials included You ll learn a variety of skills to make hand-built vessels, platters and vases, jars, pots, and more. Learn how to use the potter s wheel! Decorate and glaze your pieces. Materials included This course introduces the fundamental skills necessary to produce basic pottery forms on the wheel, such as bowls, vases, mugs and plates. Develop and improve your technical throwing skills, and learn a variety of techniques. Ceramics Drop-in-Studio with Savannah Kramer Every Friday 2:00-5:00 pm $35 per session, all materials included! Want to try hand building for a day? Have an idea for a project but need space, materials and guidance? Then this is for you! How to Register... Pastel Painting with Susan Klinger Thursdays, 9:30 am-12:30 pm WINTER SESSION: January 11-March 22, (8 weeks) NO CLASS JANUARY 18, FEBRUARY 15 or MARCH 15. SPRING SESSION: April 12-May 31, (8 weeks) Tentative Explore pastel by learning a variety of approaches to working in this versatile medium. Working from a Notan sketch, underpainting and basic composition will also be covered. Guided lessons as well as the opportunity to explore individual interests. Individual and group critique sessions to help you grow as an artist. Suitable for beginners or those with experience working in soft pastel. Note This class is for those wishing to work in soft pastel. Oil pastel is very different and will not be covered. Beginning Painting for Adults with Pauline Braun Session A: Thursdays, 10:00 am-12:00 pm OR Session B: Thursdays, 1:00 pm-3:00 pm January 11-February 1, (4 weeks) $70 member $85 nonmember Learn to paint and draw from still life with acrylic, watercolor, charcoal. Each week we will work in a new medium. This course is great for beginners, providing an introductory framework for seeing and rendering basic shapes, for using line and form, and exploring color theory and the use of color. FREE for Members Only! OPEN painting STUDIO Every Friday, 10 am-2 pm Paint with a group of dedicated artists. No instructor. Do your own thing. Bring photos or sketches to work from, or set up a still life with our collection of props. Help Us Spread the Word... It s a bit early, but last summer s children s workshops return this summer. This technique gives your painting a special kind of texture, and you can achieve great results! Bring your paints, brushes and watercolor paper OR matboards, 10 x 14 or larger, to mount your paintings, plus landscape resource material, and your imagination for this intuitive process! One sheet of Masa paper (available for purchase in class) will provide 4 or more paintings. Kass will provide other supplies needed. This workshop is great for all levels! Valentine s Day Gift Scarfmaking with Lian Sawires Wednesday, February 7, 6:00-9:00 pm $45 member $55 nonmember (+ $35 materials fee payable to the instructor) Lian Sawires. Create 3 stunning silk scarves! Experience the process hands-on. The ancient art forms of Japanese Patterning (Shibori) and hand dyeing combine with today s modern esthetic with Master Artisan Learn silk dyeing methods, pleating, and 4 patterning surface designs, blending traditional and modern techniques to synthesize a truly unique textile art. Mixed Media Collage is a time to experiment, try techniques you may never have done before. 5 Center on the Hill Art Center at Ambler Member Show & Sale February 1 February 28, Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA Drop-Off: Thursday February 1 from 10-11:30 am. Please do not block the entrance! You may stop at the front entrance to drop off ONLY then please move to a parking spot. Thanks for your cooperation. Entries: $5 for 2 paintings. ACAA members may submit TWO original works of art, or signed and numbered prints. Maximum size 18 x 24. All media welcome. Frames must be properly wired. No saw-toothed hangers allowed. Sales: 20% commission on sales, half to Center on the Hill, and half to Art Center at Ambler. "People's Choice Awards." During the show, visitors may vote for their favorite painting. Votes will be tallied, and awards will be presented at the closing reception. Details to come. The winner will also be announced on our website, Closing Reception and Pick-up Date: February 28, from 3:00-4:00 pm. Awards will be presented. Refreshments will be served.
