2 Hi Mum Our class went to the art gallery this morning. We saw a huge painting called Blue Poles. Mr Peters told us all about the painting. We also saw lots of sculptures. Then we ate lunch in a park and went to the science museum. It was a great day! Lots of love Riley Mum 17 Po Street Boofla WA

A recount is a text that. 3 Read Blue Poles. Done c Ask a classmate to make a comment about your painting. Write it here. Use quotation marks to show exactly what they said, such as It is wonderful. d Draw a mini version of your Blue Poles on the blank canvas on page 99. Done 102

6 2 Choose a piece of your own artwork. It may be something you created at school or at home. A recount tells what happened, in the order it happened. It has: an orientation that sets the time and place, and introduces the main people events in time order action verbs in the past tense that tell what happened summing up. It might be a drawing, painting or sculpture. Write a factual recount about how you created it. Start by sketching your artwork. Write a title. Write an orientation that tells the reader the place and time you created the artwork. Say if anyone was involved, apart from yourself. Write in the past tense. Write about what you did, in the order that you did it. Write a conclusion that sums up what you did. Remember: a factual recount is different to a procedure. 103

7 Synonyms and antonyms An antonym is a word that means the opposite of another word.
