2016 Catalog of Paintings by The paintings has created in 2016 fall into two quite different categories. The first is his Fields Series which features fields of flowers and swaying grasses. The titles give a hint to what was going through the artist s mind while he was painting. The second is a series he calls Essence. The paintings are spiritual in nature and feature ethereal figures.
Fields Paintings by When I see a distant field driving along a highway, I don t see detail so much as an abstraction of natural earthen colors, wonderful textures, grasses reaching for the sky as they sway in a passing breeze. Punctuating and accenting this more neutral matrix, I often see brilliant wild flowers that seem to levitate above the surface, creating a surreal display that seems to be capable of floating skyward

Essence Paintings by The figures present in my Essence Series paintings are derived from my Arch Series where I often use figures to represent the essence of people. That essence is the part of us that is not physical, but the compilation of our interactions with the world we live in and the mark we leave on this earth forever. Thus, these figures are often indistinct and somewhat ethereal in their human form
- Essence - Going In - 30 X 58 - Oil on Canvas
- Essence - Sought After - 48 X 58 - Oil on Canvas
- Essence - My Shadow - 60 X 36 - Oil on Canvas
is a painter, sculptor and gallery owner. His paintings are usually rendered in oil or watercolor. His metal work is primarily pewter or fired-enamel on copper. Reinike was born in New Orleans in He attended St. John s College in Santa Fe, NM and LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. He received his degree in Philosophy with concentrations in Ancient Greek Language and Fine Art. The rich cultural heritage of New Orleans gave Reinike an appreciation for aesthetics and history. His mother, Vera, trained him in the disciplines of restoration, faux finishes, and the decorative arts. His father taught him painting technique, and together they developed the pewter techniques Reinike uses for his metal creations, today. Upon graduation, he began to work with his father on large commissioned works, at first as an apprentice and later as a partner. In 1971, Reinike and his wife, Edna, assumed the ownership of the gallery that his parents had founded in They expanded its scope, and in 1988, they relocated the gallery to Atlanta, where it remains. Over the years, Reinike produced paintings, murals, functional art and sculpture for public spaces and private homes. He restored a number of important works in historic buildings in New Orleans. The large scale of murals and the understanding of historic elements directly influenced his choice of subjects in his current work and the techniques he uses today. In 1987, Reinike began a series of works he called Arch Paintings. The theme centered around an arch symbolizing the passage from a physical world into a spiritual or enlightened space. The paintings featured symbols that a viewer could study to form a story. His 2015 one-man-show titled Transitions was primarilarly abstract. His current series titled Fields features loosly renederd wildflowers and informal fields of blossoms. In addition to paintings, Reinike has also created pewter objects and jewelry.
