4 Prickly Pear NOTE: We recommend you use one color for Border #1, #3, and the solid squares to conserve yardage. If you choose to use two different fabrics for Borders 1 and 3 (as shown in the sample), you will need 2 yds of each fabric to prevent having to piece the border. If you choose to vary the fabrics used for the solid squares, an additional ¼ yd of three of the Center Spike and Geese Background fabrics will be necessary, which results in a more scrappy look! In this case, the Mini Star background and accent pieces are cut from the same fabrics. We added a Color #9 to the list. Cut (3) 2-1/2 strips to be used with the SSR-2 Layout Sheet (cut (3) parallelograms the shape of the TLS) and (1) 7 strip to be used with the Template SS1 Layout Sheet (Cut 3 7 x 13-1/2 rectangles). With the smaller quilt, you will need to calculate the number of Template Layout Sheets to cut to complete each block by using the information in the Getting to Know your Units Chapter of the Geese Migrations Book.
