3 Sandy Beach 1. Cut 3½ strips in assorted pale colours. Use Longhex template. From these strips cut approx. twenty-five hexagons. 2. Cut 1½ strips in assorted pale colours. Use 60º Triangle template From these strips cut approx forty-eight triangles. 3. Join one triangle to opposite sides of Longhex. 4. Join twelve to thirteen hexagons to make long row. 5. Repeat with remaining hexagons and triangles. 6. Join both rows together. Trim all ears. Press seam. 7. Trim strip to 36½. 1

4 Soft Waves 1. Cut four 10½ x 2½ strips Mid Blue Stripe. From these strips cut four half melons. 2. Cut four 10½ x 2¼ strips White. From these strips cut four arcs. 3. Sew one of each section together to form a rectangle: Match marks at centre. Match sides. Pin well. Sew round arced edge. Press seams towards White. 4. Make three more units. 5. Sew all units to make long strip. Trim strip to 36½. Trim even amounts from both ends. Sail Boats 1. Cut 3½ strip Red. Use 120º Triangle. Cut four sails. Flip template over to cut second sail etc. 2. Join one 13 x 3½ Dark Blue strip to one 13 x 2½ strip forming wide band. 3. Cut four 3 sections from this band. 2

4. Place 120º Triangle template on one strip R/S up.

Cut two 6½ strips from this band. 8. Repeat Stages 6-7. 9.

Increase length of band to 36½ by adding extra strip section to

Cut four hulls (boat bottoms!) from this strip.

Cut 2 strip Dark Blue Stripe. Repeat Stage 11 - cut five sections.

Attach boat hulls and sea to sail section.

5 4. Place 120º Triangle template on one strip R/S up. Cut one triangle as shown. Cut three more from remaining 3 sections. 5. Sew Red sail to sea section. Take care when placing sections together - note where the raw edges overlap at top and bottom of seam. 6. Sew two 16 x 1¾ and one 16 x 2½ strip to make wide band. 7. Cut two 6½ strips from this band. 8. Repeat Stages Sew sail sections and strips to form long band. 10. Increase length of band to 36½ by adding extra strip section to either end. 11. Cut 2 strip Red Stripe & Red Dot. Use 45º Triangle. Cut four hulls (boat bottoms!) from this strip. Check you have template placed as shown. 12. Cut 2 strip Dark Blue Stripe. Repeat Stage 11 - cut five sections. 13. Join all sections together to make long row. 14. Attach boat hulls and sea to sail section. Trim any excess fabric from end. 15. Cut 1½ Red strip. Press Bondaweb to back. Cut four small sails using 120º Triangle. Bond sails in place. Appliqué by hand or machine. 16 Cut two 19 x 2 strip Dark Blue Dot. Join to make band. Attach to sailboat section. 3

Sew sections into pairs then join to make

6 The strips and sections can all be sewn together and attached to the other pieces to complete the quilt. Why not add flowers and other delights to the quilt. The petal shape makes an excellent icecream cone. Consider using dies for Cup Cakes. To make Beach Balls: Cut 2½ strips. Use 45½º Triangle. Cut eight sections. Sew sections into pairs then join to make octagonal shape. Fuse Bondaweb to the back. Place Sew Easy circle template on front. Cut out. Bond ball to beach and appliqué in place.

Cut lots of 45º triangles from these strips. Join together to make a long line.

Measure quilt width: Cut one strip this width from the bunting.

Measure quilt length: Cut two strips of bunting this length. Attach to quilt.

7 Complete the quilt top From one of the remaining fabrics cut 1 strips and join together. Use this strip to add a border to sides. As I didn t have enough material - I only added a border to three sides - it is your choice. A final border not dissimilar to bunting was added using 45º Triangle. From remaining materials cut 3 strips. Cut lots of 45º triangles from these strips. Join together to make a long line. Measure bunting width - cut two squares this width. Measure quilt width: Cut one strip this width from the bunting. Attach one square to each end. Measure quilt length: Cut two strips of bunting this length. Attach to quilt. Finally sew strip with squares attached to the bottom of the quilt. Matching seams on corners. Square off corners with EZ Flip n Set. Construct quilt backing from remaining F/Q s.
