2 A Note From the Owner I first became interested in the elegant Plauen Lace linens while shopping at a boutique in Europe. I was visiting a cousin who was living in Germany at the time. I wanted to share these treasures so started T s Treasures in The linens are made in Plauen, Germany by family owned factories in a centuries-old tradition of textile manufacture. I hope you will enjoy your purchases and will pass these fine linens on to delight generations to come. Teresa Tracey, President History of Plauen Lace Plauen Lace and embroidery was initially produced by hand in the Vogtland region of Germany, centered around the City of Plauen dating back to In 1880 the production became a technological marvel as hand operated embroidery machines were introduced. The lace became known throughout the world as Plauener Spitze and gained a reputation for beautiful lace of the finest quality. By 1900 most of the lace produced in Plauen, Germany was exported to the United States. Plauen Lace designs and the new technology was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1900 World Exposition in Paris. After a long growth period, production of Plauen Lace declined following the collapse of Germany s economy during World War I. The situation worsened when almost all the factories and designs were destroyed during the World War II bombing raids, with almost 75% of Plauen, Germany in ruins. The lace and embroidery industry began again in 1950 in private hands. By 1972 the East German government nationalized the family owned factories. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the reunification of Germany in 1990, the state owned factories became privatized again. Families took over the factories they had once lost and began again to manufacture Plauen Lace. Today the Plauener Spitze and Embroidery Association owns the Plauener Spitze trademark. The trademark "Plauener Spitze" not only guarantees the highest quality linens, it also guarantees that these linens are designed and made in Germany by skilled craftsmen. 2

Since our linens are made in Germany, special orders can take up to 6 weeks for the factory to fill the order and ship to the United States. Caring for Your Linens Most lace pieces are easy-care, 100% polyester, and are machine washable except for designs with linen, which should be hand-washed for best results. Refund Policy For T s Treasures Merchandise may be returned for merchandise credit only. Merchandise must be returned within 30 days of purchase. Because we value our customers and want you to be completely satisfied, please contact your Sales Representative or T s Treasures direct by phone at to inform us of your reasons for the return and to arrange for merchandise credit. Because we are a small business and operate at a low overhead, it is not generally our policy to pay for the shipping cost of returned merchandise.
