Stitches used: slip stitch sc=single crochet hdc=half-double crochet dc=double crochet decrease=1 sc combining 2 stitches cluster = pull up loop in each of 4 stitches, pull yarn through all loops on hook I have only recently begun writing crochet patterns, so there may be errors here, which I will probably not be able to tell you how to fix! Please bear this in mind. The pattern is probably best attempted by experienced crocheters. I used Herrschner s 2-ply Afghan Yarn for this doll, and a size 1 steel crochet hook. You will also need a yarn needle, polyester fiberfill, craft glue, and 2 small (1/4 inch) brown buttons. The doll is about 8 inches tall. You could also use 4-ply yarn and an aluminum size D hook for a larger doll. Yarn colors: Cream, Forest Green, Black, Gray, Beige about 100 yards of each (half a skein), a small amount of Victorian Red I generally use continuous rows for circular parts (head, torso, arms, legs). You can also end each row by joining and chaining 1 (it s easier to keep track of rows this way, but it does create a seam ). Do not turn pieces unless the pattern states specifically to turn. BODY Head and torso Row 1: With cream color yarn, chain sc in second chain from hook. Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. 20 sc Row 3: 1 sc in each sc. 20 sc Row 4: (1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next) 10 times. 30 sc Row 5: 1 sc in each sc. 30 sc Row 6: (1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next) 10 times. 40 sc Row 7: 1 sc in each sc. 40 sc Row 8: 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next) 10 times. 50 sc Row 9-10: 1 sc in each sc. 50 sc Row 11: (1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 1 decrease) 10 times. 40 sc Row 12: 1 sc in each sc. 40 sc Row 13: (1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 1 decrease) 10 times. 30 sc Row 14: 1 sc in each sc. 30 sc Row 15: (1 sc, 2 decrease) 6 times. 18 sc Rows (neck): 1 sc in each sc. 18 sc End cream. Join forest green yarn to piece. Row 18-19: 1 sc in each sc. 18 sc Row 20: (1 sc in first 2 sc, 2 sc in next) 6 times. 24 sc Rows : 1 sc in each sc. 24 sc. End piece. Stuff head and torso.

2 Boots and Legs Row 1: With gray yarn, chain 2. 9 sc in second chain from hook. Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. 18 sc Row 3: Sc in first 7 sc. 2 hdc in each of next 4 sc. Sc in next 7 sc. (22) Row 4: 10 sc, 2 hdc in each of next 2 hdc, 10 sc. (24) Row 5: Sc in first 6 stitches. 2 decrease. Cluster (pull up loop in each of next 4 stitches. Pull yarn through all loops on hook. 2 decrease, sc in next 6 sc. (17) Row 6: Sc in first 5 sc. Decrease 3 times. Sc in next 5 sc. 13 sc Row 6-9: 1 sc in each sc. 13 sc Row 10: Sc in outer loops only of row sc. End. Join black, for pant legs. Row 11: In inner loops of row 10, 1 sc in each sc. 13 sc. Rows 12-25: Sc in each sc. End 1 st leg do not end 2 nd leg. Stuff legs with polyester fiberfill. Continuing on from leg 2: Row 26: Sc in first 5 sc. In next sc, draw yarn through, leaving loop on hook. Draw yarn through ending stitch on leg 1. Draw yarn through both loops on hook, combining legs. Sc in next 12 sc on leg 1. Draw yarn through same stitch used to combine legs, leaving loop on hook. Draw yarn through same combining stitch on leg 1. Draw yarn through both loops on hook. Sc in next 8 sc on leg 2. There should be 26 sc total around the tops of the legs. Row 27: (11 sc, 1 dec) 2 times. 24 sc Rows 27-30: 1 sc in each sc. End, leaving length for sewing. With yarn needle, sew top and bottom of doll together, leaving an opening for stuffing. Fill with polyester fiberfill. Sew remaining stitches together. Arms Row 1: With forest green yarn, chain sc in second chain from hook. Row 2-11: 1 sc in each sc. 10 sc. Row 12: (4sc, 2 sc in next sc) 2 times. 12 sc. Rows 13-20: Sc in each sc. 12 sc Row 21: 1 sc in each of next 11 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 22: 1 sc in each of next 10 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 23: 1 sc in each of next 9 sc. Row 24: 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. Do not turn. In armhole opening, evenly sc 8 stitches. Row 25. Decrease 4 times, slip stitch in next sc. Armhole should have 12 stitches around. End, leaving length for sewing. Stuff arms with polyester fiberfill. Sew arm to torso (top of arm should be on Row 20, bottom of arm on Row 23). Sew second arm to opposite side of torso.

3 Ears With cream color yarn, chain 4. 2 sc in second chain from hook. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. End, leaving length for sewing. Sew ears to sides of head. Top of ear should be on Row 10, bottom of ear on Row 13. Weave in ends. Hair Cut 60 to 70 6-inch strands of beige color yarn and 3 12-inch strands. Using the 12-inch strands, tie the other strands tightly in the middle. Tie to top of head (row 1). Arrange hair evenly around head. Apply a thick layer of craft glue to back of head, rows Press hair down into glue, taking care to keep it straight. Trim hair straight across at shoulder line. It will have a boxy look. Trim at an angle, starting about halfway down the head, until hair is desired length and shape. On front of head, apply a layer of craft glue about 2 rows wide, from ear to top of head, across the forehead, and down to other ear. Press hair into glue. Cut straight across face, halfway down head. Trim at an angle, feathering bangs carefully until they look right! Eyes Sew two small (1/4 inch) brown buttons to Row 9, about 9 stitches apart.

4 Jacket Top half of jacket: Row 1: With black yarn, chain 27. Sc in second chain from hook and in each sc across. 26 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 2-8: sc in each sc. 26 sc. Chain 1, turn. Right front: Row 9: Skip first sc, 6 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 10: Sc in each sc. 6 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 11: Skip first sc. 4 sc, 2 sc in end sc. 6 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 12: Sc in each sc. 6 sc. Chain 1, turn. Rows 13-14: repeat rows Row 15: repeat row 11. End. Back: Row 9: Skip 2 sc from edge of right front. 12 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 10: 2 sc in first sc, 10 sc, 2 sc in last sc. 14 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 11: 2 sc in first sc, 12 sc, 2 sc in last sc. 16 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 13: 16 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 14: 16 sc. End. Left front: Working on opposite end of Row 8, repeat instructions for right front. up to end of row 15. Chain 1, turn. Row 16: 6 sc. Sc evenly around armholes, across back and across right front, 1 sc in end of each row and in each sc. Leave length for sewing. Sew right front and left front to back. Bottom half of jacket: Row 1: Attach black yarn in first stitch of the top s row 1. Sc in each stitch across. 26 sc. Chain 1, turn. Rows 2-7: sc in each sc. 26 sc. Chain 1, turn. Row 8: Skip first sc. 23 sc. Skip 1 sc, sc in last. 24 sc. Do not turn. Row 9: Sc around edge of entire piece, putting 1 sc in end of each row (3 sc in each end of Row 9) and in each sc around. End, leaving length for sewing. Neck trim: with Victorian Red yarn and yarn needle, embroider a line of red around neckline, from Row 9 around to other end of Row 9. Edging gray yarn Note: Instead of fringe, I used a textured stitch that s a little more durable. Feel free to do fringe if you d prefer! (2sc, 1dc, 1sc, 1 hdc) around armholes, neck, and bottom edge of jacket, leaving front edges of 10 rows (measured from row 9) to be sewn together. Sew these together with the length left from the bottom half of piece. Weave in ends. Belt With Victorian Red yarn, chain 50. Sc in 2 nd chain from hook and each chain across. Do not turn. In end chain, 3 sc. On other side of piece, sc in each bottom loop of chain. 2 sc in end loop. Join yarn to first sc and end piece. Tie belt around waist.

5 Mittens Row 1: With black yarn, chain 2. 6 sc in second chain from hook. Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. 12 sc. Rows 3-6: 12 sc. Row 7: Do not end black yarn. Attach gray yarn. 12 sc. End gray yarn. Row 8: With black yarn, 11 sc, 2 sc in last sc. 13 sc. Rows 9-11: 13 sc. End black. Row 12: Attach gray yarn. 13 sc. End. Weave in ends. Hat Row 1: Chain sc in 2 nd chain from hook. Row 2: 2 sc in each sc. 20 sc Row 3: sc in each sc. 20 sc Row 4: 2 sc in each sc. 30 sc Row 5: Sc in each sc. 30 sc Row 6: 2 sc in each sc. 40 sc Row 7-9: Sc in each sc. 40 sc Row 10 (hat brim): sc in outside loops of each sc. 40 sc. Row 11: Sc in each sc. 40 sc. Fold brim up over rows 8 and 9. Tie pom-pom to top of hat. To make pom-pom: Wrap yarn loosely around two fingers about 25 times. Tie tightly in center. Cut ends on both sides of knot. Trim ends close to knot. Your doll is now complete!
