It has now been faithfully reproduced by Tanya Brockmeyer on Lakeside s 45c Vintage linen using a combination of beautiful silks (NPI, Belle Soie, Gloriana, and Gumnut), the verse stitched over one. Saturday, February 26, Nashville Market Day This is our biggest event of the year, and some of you travel from neighboring states to be with us as we take off the wraps on all of the best that s new in our needlework world. Doors open at 9 AM for our Attic Addict members and 10 AM for the general public. You won t want to miss it! March March 3-6, 11 AM Thursday - Sunday 11 AM, Our Annual Junipine Retreat in Sedona. We ve been doing this retreat since 1999, at the beautiful Junipine Resort on the shores of Oak Creek, and for the past number of years it is always sold out. Those who come year after year are first on the list. So if you wish, we are happy to put you on the waiting list. June Sampler Sunday, June 19. Although as the third Sunday in June this is Father s Day, you will want to carve out a 3-hour time in the afternoon to join us for a very special Sampler Sunday with Barbara Hutson/Queenstown Sampler Designs with a very special presentation. Barbara is a renowned sampler expert, and we are honored to have her at The Attic. We still have some BCRF cookbooks left. 3 THE ATTIC! PAGE 3 Our 2011 Primitive Gathering with Linda Lautenschlager of Chessie & Me, Stacy Nash of Stacy Nash Primitives, and Vickie Jennett of NeedleWorkPress is now just a memory. Here are a few photos that I hope capture some of the highlights of a grand time together learning and laughing and stitching and inspiring and sharing. Over 80% of the registrants were from out of town. It s unfortunate that more local needleworkers didn t join us and take advantage of a weekend of needlework rock stars right here in their own backyard. They certainly missed an opportunity where they didn t have to fly or hotel it but simply drive across town. And also among the missing were several of you who had urged us to bring a primitive venue here. If everyone had as much fun as I did, it was a success. Thank you to all who joined us. 7 THE ATTIC! PAGE 7 The Mary Ann Gollins Sampler, coming on the scene during the current A & E craze, flew out of here within hours, so we ve ordered dozens more. In the meantime, while we wait, we began a conversion to silk from the charted Madeira/DMC thread legend. We ll finalize the conversion when the next chart shipment is here. In the meantime, we ve been playing with linens and silks with several beautiful combinations. On 40c the finished size will be 17.9 x 20.7 Spanish Mystery Sampler Stitch-Along Here is your January assignment with some suggestions/guidance from Paula, who has volunteered to lead this Stitch-Along: This is a great sampler and by stitching 1 or 2 rows a month, at the end of the year you will have a beautiful piece ready to hang on your wall! You will notice that the sampler has a border on 3 sides. When a sampler is encased with a repetitive border, it is advisable to wait to stitch the border and instead, count down to the main body of the sampler and begin stitching there. Once you have stitched some of the body of the sampler, both across and down, you can begin stitching borders outside of the stitched body, thereby ensuring fewer errors. No one wants to stitch the whole border, spending hours, only to find that when they begin to stitch the body of the sampler, the count is off on the border and parts of the body of the sampler won t fit. For stitching this month, count down to the first row of alphabets and stitch this row first. Now you have set in a main piece of the full width of the body of the sampler. Next count up to the top border and stitch the full width of the top border, along with a bit of border on the left and right all the way down to the bottom of the first row of the alphabet.
