Below right, photos of my progress through last night and Paula s Week 2 progress as well. Her lady this week almost has her dress finished ~ and you ve probably noticed her special Cat Snips scissors, coming very soon to all of us as well! Paula is stitching her Garden Glade on Lakeside s 40c V. Sand Dune with Belle Soie colors converted from the charted NPI silks. I m stitching my Garden Glade on Lakeside s V. Bluegrass with 5 different silks (Belle Soie, Dinky Dyes, Gloriana, Thread Gatherer, and Waterlilies) chosen to try to replicate the colors used in Hannah Carter s original piece. To get the blue-green shading needed for the hillock area, it was necessary to use a variety of silks, 6-ply, 7-ply, and 12-ply, and I am very pleased with the result. It s been an interesting experience for me because, even though the various silk diameters differ, they all work beautifully together. I am very disappointed because I wanted to have the hillock area finished (and her beautiful red dress) so you could see the shaded blue-green areas with the animals enjoying the bucolic setting ~ and very soon I must begin one of October s Samplers of the Month. It is calling to me! We ll share all that we know that s new in our sampler world ~ and share our samplers in progress as well! Please register. Fee $10 October at The Attic Saturday, October 2, Market Day! It s the day that we take off the covers and show you the treasures this special time of year brings to our needlework world. Doors open at 9 AM for Attic Addict members and at 10 AM to the general public. Be there or be square! This class with Linda Danielson of Samplers Remembered is set for both Sunday, October 3 or October 10, 1-4 PM. The $35 Class/ Teaching Fee includes a kit with everything you will need to learn this technique: 1 yard of trim, 115 antique buttons, 1 ball of ecru crochet thread, a crochet hook, and miscellaneous thread and needles needed to sew the trim to your finished cushion. Your class fee is due on or before October 3. In other words, for logistical purposes, please pay before the day of your class. The supplies you should bring to class: scissors, pins, and the cushion that you have stitched, stuffed, and finished. Saturday, October 9, Spooky Finishing Classes with Christy, both morning and afternoon. PAGE 11 It s been fun-filled week that began with an adventure with Oscar Meyer s Wienermobile on Monday afternoon, thanks to our crazy friend Vickie, known to all of you as SANQ author/contributor Victoria LoPiccolo Jennett, collector of antique samplers and other needlework and ABC ephemera. She wrote an online 250-word essay about making the world a happier place in the Wienermobile and WON! Here she is being interviewed by a local TV station in front of it before she began her wild 8-hour ride, complete with wienermobile whistles and lots of happy children of all ages! Grandparents Day at Hannah and Tyler s school, with a very moving tribute to us old folks from the fabulous students at Joy Christian School in Glendale. A photo shared by a reader after our September 11th page in a previous issue. This photo was taken by her father, and she thought I would enjoy it, and I thought you would as well. Just makes me want to have been there. REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11 Another photo from a reader, of her niece. This is what Karen said with her forwarded photo: Allison is 4 and wanted to stitch and demanded that I put her Ott light on just like Aunt Karen. Proof that our wonderful pastime will live on to the next generation.
