Brown, a beautiful reproduction and adaptation from Gloria/Milady s Needle Above, reproductions matched to the colors on the back, left, stitched on 28c linen with Au Ver A Soie s Soie Perlee and Soie de Paris and, right, stitched on 35c Weeks Mocha with Au Ver A Soie s 100/3, both beautiful. But I fell in love with the original, below, and the beautiful faded palette on the lighter ground fabric. We ve chosen again a selection of different overdyed silks (Belle Soie, Dinky Dyes, and Gloriana s Florimell, Luminescence, and Silk Floss) to stitch our model on 40c Lakeside Linen. (I m addicted to overdyes, both in fabric and threads, so perfect, I think, for sampler reproductions.) I haven t gotten far enough on my model to show you any progress yet, and although we have a very busy next two months, my goal is to finish it by the end of November. This is a petite sampler, relatively speaking, and I love it! Isn t it beautiful? We ve done silk conversions to both NPI OR the AVAS with touches of overdyed silks using Gloriana s Florimell + Belle Soie, shown to the left. Also from Linda/Chessie & Me We ve never had a birth sampler as one of our Sampler-of-the-Month selections, but the verse, and the symbolism Linda used in her design, made this the perfect first! I still can t read the verse without choking up: When you are born, you cry and the World Rejoices. May you live in such a manner that when you leave this earth, the World cries and You Rejoice. Doesn t that express exactly how we feel about our beloved little ones, whether child or grandchild, niece or nephew? The sampler design also includes a good deal of symbolism for a new baby, as Linda explains: The honeysuckle vine is a symbol of devoted affection and protection. The lamb symbolizes youth and innocence, gentleness and humility, and the pine trees stand for strength and fidelity. A treasured birth sampler for any gender. These Rainbow Butterfly Pin Kits $28 are very unique. The butterflies are stitched on 40c silk gauze with Dinky Dyes hand-dyed floss and outlined in black floss, then inserted into the provided glass frames, and you add the beads, the unique paper and extras to the pin, and you have a lovely, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry to wear or give as a gift.
