2 Platform FluurMat is an interactive floor system built around the idea of Natural User Interface (NUI). Children can interact with the virtual world by the means of movement and game-play in a natural and fluid way. Instead of learning how to interact with a user interface, kids can literally jump into the virtual projection, play and learn in a fun and exciting way. FluurMat has been conceived as a convenient and affordable interactive system. Following this philosophy, we have made sure the system fits your desired setup and not vice-versa. You can mount the system onto a ceiling and affix it there permanently, or use it as a portable solution. FluurMat is a great solution for elementary schools, kindergartens and learning centers. A number of our games have been designed for entertainment purposes. These make FluurMat an engaging attraction wherever there are lots of children (and adults). All you need is a projector and a floor area and you can turn any place into a play zone. If you were wondering what new and exciting attraction you could offer at malls, shopping centers and kids centers, you ve got the right place. KEY FEATURES OF THE FLUURMAT 2 SOFTWARE PLATFORM: PAY-ONCE-OWN-FOREVER: FluurMat 2 offers perpetual licensing and does not require subscription. You can calculate your estimated costs easier and you do not have to worry about costs when the system is not in use. FluurMat is great, but when it s a bright and sunny day, we d prefer to be outside too! WORKS OFFLINE: Since FluurMat licensing is perpetual, once you activate your license you can use the system without an Internet connection. EASY TO USE AND SET UP: FluurMat requires calibration to recognize the floor and separate it from moving objects. The calibration process is mostly automatic and requires only a few minutes. 2

3 LOW HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: FluurMat does not require a super-powerful and expensive PC. We ve spent a great amount of time optimizing our own code, rather than just bumping up the hardware requirements (and therefore your budget). EXTREMELY ACCURATE: We don t joke around when we talk about accuracy. When properly calibrated, the system can recognize and separate a 2 cm high object from the floor at 2.5 meters distance. EMBEDDED GAMES: In a way, our product is not an interactive floor that has games and educational apps, bur rather games and apps that were designed for the floor. You do not have to buy a software platform and then shop for games for it. Each game comes with the FluurMat software system integrated and ready to use. Each game is a separate executable file. SHARED SETTINGS: Different games you own share the same calibration system settings. Once the system is calibrated, switching between games and apps is as easy as just starting a different game. DESIGNED BY GAME DESIGNERS: The team behind FluurMat has years of experience in game development. We play video games and we make video games. We want to introduce learning through game-play. Therefore, it is essential to actually know what works and what is fun to play. 3

INTERACTIVE FLOOR MOUNTING SOLUTIONS: CEILING-MOUNTED USE: EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, CHILDREN S CENTERS, MALLS & SHOPPING CENTERS The ceiling mounted solution is perfect for incorporating FluurMat into a permanent interactive system. The calibration process in FluurMat allows for ceiling heights from 2.5 m to 5 m (and up to 8 m in some cases, however, at a limited accuracy). Once the system is installed and calibrated, it is ready for use! This allows the system to be used for rental and mounted at children events. Naturally, given the fact the system requiters a projector, it is better used at evening events and environments with limited lighting. The system allows for many simultaneous players and make a great and engaging attraction. 5

In fact, it can even be used outdoors, provided you cover the construction and protect it against rain and harsh weather. The system cannot be used during daytime, however it literally makes a beaming attraction during the evenings. 6

7 MOUNTED ON A LIGHT TRAVERSE (HORIZONTAL PROJECTOR ORIENTATION) USE: EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, CHILDREN S CENTERS & KIDS EVENTS In many cases affixing the system permanently to a ceiling is not desirable or even achievable. We, for one, also believe a projector and a motion sensor may find many other uses around an educational institution. Therefore, we ve ensured that FluurMat can also be set up a portable system. This is achievable by mounting the projector and sensor on a so called light traverse. Naturally, other similar mounting constructions are suitable, provided they are strong and sturdy. Using a triangular traverse ensures it can support the weight of a normal-sized projector. Furthermore, by mounting the projector horizontally and using a mirror, the wide side of the projection on the floor is oriented away from the supports. Fuhrer stability may be achieved by mounting caps on the top of the traverse; the traverse is then raised as high as possible and the caps are pressed onto the ceiling surface. While the supports may be prove to be a bit restrictive, the projected area on the floor is just as big as with a ceiling mounted solution. A portable floor interactive system is also great for all sorts of events and gatherings (hint: Christmas and Halloween Parties!). 7

8 MOUNTED ON A LIGHT TRAVERSE (VERTICAL PROJECTOR ORIENTATION) USE: CASUAL We ve already mentioned FluurMat was designed as a high-quality, but also affordable solution. We back that claim by the fact the system has even found its place at very casual events and parties. All you need is a light traverse or another similar construction and you can turn your projector and Xbox Kinect into the ultimate interactive floor! Please note, however, that you still need a sturdy construction that can support a projector. Furthermore, mounting a projector vertically is only advised for inexpensive LED projectors. Other types of projectors have moving parts, and additionally, vertical mounting may cause your projector to overheat if used longer. Notice that the projection is aligned with the construction when mounting the projector this way. This makes the play-area more restricted. Nonetheless, we ve seen a good number of use cases with this type of solution and the system is just as fun to use! 8

10 HARDWARE FluurMat has been conceived as a convenient and inexpensive interactive system. Following this philosophy, we have made sure the system fits your desired setup and not vice-versa. You can mount the system onto a ceiling and affix it there permanently, or use it as a portable solution. We believe a projector and a motion sensor may find more than one use around an education institution and therefore like to make a note on the former solution. FluurMat needs the following hardware to operate: projector ( beamer ), a motion sensor (Kinect), computer (Windows PC) and a ceiling mount or truss. Naturally, you ll need a bunch of cables and a white carpet, mat or a piece of linoleum for the floor. We ll get into details. PROJECTOR: FluurMat works with any projector (that includes DLP, LCD, and LED projectors). To make the sure the projection is visible on the floor, we recommend using a bright and strong projector. I.e lumens and above. SUGGESTED PROJECTOR: Education: lumens Malls and retail: lumens Casual / Children s Parties: 3000 lumens (an inexpensive LED projector also works for this usage) MOTION SENSOR: The motion sensor is the eye of our interactive platform. Currently, FluurMat 2 only works with a Kinect One (aka Kinect 2 for Xbox One) sensor. In the future, we plan on adding support for the new Intel Realsense sensors. The Kinect, however, provides exceptional accuracy and is fairly inexpensive. REQUIRED MOTION SENSOR: Xbox Kinect 2 + Kinect adapter for Windows PC 10

11 PC: FluurMat 2 requires a Microsoft Windows based PC with the following minimum specifications. Please note these specifications need to be met for the platform to work. Namely, it requires a 64 bit Windows operating system and a USB 3 port. REQUIRED COMPUTER: 64 bit Windows OS (Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10) USB 3 port (an Intel-based USB chipset is recommended) Intel i3 CPU 4 GB RAM (or more) Since FluurMat was designed as an affordable platform and customers have asked if it will work with a mini-pc or a laptop, we have tested the system with the following processor families, on which many inexpensive PCs and laptops are based: Intel Atom z8350: frame-rate 6-10 fps insufficient for game-play Intel Pentium n4200: frame-rate fps game-play is possible, but not suggested Intel i3: frame rate 30+ fps game-play is fluid Please note these are the requirements to run the base system. Some 3D games with rich graphics may require a dedicated video card (i.e. not an integrated one). 11
