1 Page 1 of 5 Instructions for Fitting Lower Grille to S Type Jaguar. Part Code 9048 To fit this grille you will need: Torch, 10mm spanner, 10mm socket with extension, T30 torx bits, Screwdrivers, Pliers, Drill & 6.5mm Wood Drill Bit, Masking Tape, a felt tip pen and an extra pair of hands. If any of the bolts are seized with rust (particularly in the wheel arches), we recommend applying PLUSGAS spray (or similar) a few hours in advance. Removal of the Bumper: There is no need to remove the bolts (usually 9) around the front of the under-tray (because they are often seized with rust) these can remain in place because the under tray can stay attached to the bumper when the bumper is removed. 1- Set back from the front of the car at the back of the under-tray are 3 Phillips screws that hold the under tray to the sub-frame these need to be removed. 2- Next give your attention to each wheel arch liner, and remove the 3 torx bolts at the front of each wheel arch liner. Fig 1 shows the outer of the 3 being removed, the second bolt is further down and further in, and the third is further in still. You will need to turn the wheel to gain access to these. (Fig 1) 3- At the front of the wheel arch liner you can now ease it away, to reveal located behind it in the cavity, a 10mm hex bolt that holds the bumper to the wing. Remove this bolt (on both sides of the car) (Fig 2) (Fig 2)

2 Page 2 of 5 4- There are 3 x 10mm Hex bolts as shown in Fig 3, remove these (6 in total, 3 at either side of the grille). (Fig 3) 5- Remove the black plastic cover that goes over the top of the head lights, this is held on with 4 plastic screws. (Fig 4) (Fig 4) 6- Between the wing and head light there is a 10mm hex bolt that holds the wing to bumper this needs removing at both sides. (You will need a long extension to reach) (Fig 5). 7- If your car has headlight washers gently pull the washer cover towards you and grab hold of the arm to which it is attached, gently unclip the cover from the arm. Take your time and make sure you don't break the 'cruciform' clip (which is named as such because it resembles a small crucifix). (Fig 5)

3 Page 3 of 5 8- For this next stage, an extra pair of hands would be helpful, and place a sheet or blanket on the floor underneath to prevent the bumper from being scratched (because it has to be rested on the ground). Loosen & free the bumper at each side and ease it forward. In-between the headlights is a small plastic lug and tab (as arrowed) holding the bumper; you need to gently lever the tab up and over this using a screwdriver (Fig 6). Lift the bumper off the car and rest it on your sheet / blanket. (Fig 6) 9- Disconnect the fog lamp wiring harness; the connector is located at the passenger side of the bumper. 10- Now take the bumper to a non-abrasive work surface. Fitting the New Grille: 1- Your grille has a painted decorative trim that runs horizontally along the front of your grille, this needs to be removed; there are 3 x ¼ turn clips, these need removing, then the trim will come forward. (Fig 7) (Fig 7) 2- Also at either end of the grille opening, there are 2 black plastic blanking plates clipped to the fog light mountings; these need to be removed by pulling the inner edge out and towards you. (Fig 8). (Fig 8)

4 Page 4 of 5 3- Offer up the new grille for fitting, with the top edge first. You have to ease the number plate mounting forwards slightly to allow the top of the grille into position. 4- Apply masking tape underneath where the grille mounting brackets are positioned. 5- Center the grille and make sure it is positioned correctly. When you are happy that the grille looks correctly positioned from the front, apply firm, even pressure while your assistant goes to the back of the grille and marks (onto the masking tape) the 2 points for drilling. The centers of these holes should be approximately 10mm from the back (inside) edge of the bumper. (Fig 9) (Fig 9) 6- Remove the grille and drill the 2 holes marked, with a 6.5mm bit (a wood bit is easier as it doesn t slip). Ensure you support the bumper during drilling to prevent it from bending, and then remove the masking tape. 7- On the inside of each fog lamp is a small square projection, this needs a central hole (it is essential that this hole is central in the square) drilling through it, using the 6.5mm bit. (Fig 8) (Fig 8) 8- Offer up the grille again and position it for its fitting, applying even pressure from the front. Firstly enter 2 bolts upwards through the top brackets and through the existing holes and add a washer and nyloc nut, but don t fully tighten yet (Fig 9). Do the same for the lower 2 brackets, but this time enter the bolts downwards. (Fig 9)

5 Page 5 of 5 9- Enter bolts through the side brackets from the front (with the head of the bolt facing the mesh), and add a nyloc nut; these bolts don t require a washer. 10- Check from the front to make sure the grille is positioned correctly, adjust if needed, the slotted holes in the brackets allow for backward or forward positioning. The brackets can also be adjusted by bending either by hand or with pliers should minor adjustments be necessary. With even pressure still being applied from the front, tighten the nuts. Do not be unduly concerned if there are slight gaps between the rubber edging and the grille mouth as this will not be noticeable when the bumper is fitted to the car when the area behind the grille is black. 11- Fit the bumper back onto the car. To do this follow the bumper removal steps in reverse. With the bumper fitted, stand back, and enjoy.. Thank you for purchasing one of our Grilles.
