10 Bending help There are two different ways of bending: Air bending Bottoming/coining The force/pressure F for bottoming/coining is 3 up to 8 times higher than for air bending. The die opening V should be 6 up to 12 times of the material thickness t. It also dictates the force/pressure F needed for air bending. For the choice of the opening V must be considered also the shortest flange b and the angle α. With a smaller die opening V the inside radius r i will be smaller. With the below shown table of force and the formulas you can calculate the appropriate values.
