4 Technical Overview Description Hard floor surfaces such as polished concrete are lowmaintenance, but they are NOT no-maintenance. Many things can deteriorate the floor s appearance. When the floor is too damage and doesn t respond to standard floor cleaning and polishing floor pads, it may be time for a restoration. DiamondSMOOTH screens are a cost-effective solution in repairing and preparing damaged hard floor surfaces. They are for use on Standard Electric or Automatic Scrubbers up to 350 RPM. 5 Technical Overview How to Assemble How to Use How-to Video Available DiamondSMOOTH screens are ideal for spot repair and restoration, and can be used on weighted swing machines for smaller areas, or burnishers and autoscrubbers for larger surface spaces. For heavily etched floors, start with 220 or 400 grit screens (depending on the severity of the floor condition) for approximately 2-4 passes. With the use of each screen, the process should produce grey-like slurry. Be sure to wet mop and extract the slurry from the floor in between each screen used. Then continue on to the next screen grit or use the 600 grit as the final screen for approximately 2-4 passes. 4

Testing on both concrete and terrazzo floors show equal performance in preparing damaged floors prior to polishing using diamond pads. 2. What is the life expectancy of DIAMONDSMOOTH screens vs resin bonded products? The DIAMONDSMOOTH screens can last up to 3X longer than resin bonded products used in the same applications. 3. Can I use DIAMONDSMOOTH screens with UHS equipment? For best results and longer life it is recommended to use the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens with standard speed equipment up to 350 rpm. Use of oscillating, single disc or automatic scrubbers is recommended. 4. Can the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens be used dry? It is recommended to use the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens with water or a cleaning solution. 5. If I want to use a sealer or concrete densifier on the floor, when is it recommended to apply that? A sealer or densifier can be used following the completion of the floor prep using the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens and prior to the polishing steps using diamond pads. Ensure the floor is thoroughly rinsed and clean prior to applying any sealer. 6. The video shows using both the 400 and 600 grit screens but you also offer 220 grit screens. When is it recommended to use the 220 grit screen? The 220 grit screen is recommended to be used in severe floor damage applications. If unsure, test using the 400 and 600 grit screens in a small test area to determine if the desired results are achieved. If not, add the 220 grit screen followed by 400 and 600 grit. 7. Can the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens be re-used? Yes, the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens can be re-used in multiple applications as long as they remain functional. Always clean the screens after each use by hosing with clear water. 8. Do I need to use a backer pad with the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens? YES! The use of any standard same sized floor pad is required when using the DIAMONDSMOOTH screens. A Red Buff pad is an ideal backer pad. 9. How do I secure the screen to the pad driver? The use of a center hole lock is required. We recommend a screw-on lock. 10. What is the gray ring that came with my DIAMONDSMOOTH screens? The gray ring is a safety ring and it goes in the indented area of the screen for added stability during use. 11. How much area can I cover with a DIAMONDSMOOTH screen? Screens can cover up to 30,000 sq./ft. using a standard 350 RPM floor machine. 12. How do I know when the screens are no longer functional? First, always monitor the results on the floor. If the screens are operating properly you will continue to see a slurry created on the floor. Also, the outer edges of the screen will show wear first so periodically check the screens and ensure they don t show any deterioration or fraying along the outer edges. 7
