1 DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHIES VO 2018 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Kristin Janson Kristin is currently an Analyst with the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat at the Privy Council Office. She has more 10 years of international experience working for Global Affairs Canada, including four years working at Canadian Embassies in Israel and Afghanistan. Kristin has also managed Canadian international assistance funding to projects focused on the justice sector, human rights and international security. Kristin has been a Board Member for Ottawa s Nelson House Women s Shelter. She has a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario. Alice Kubicek Alice is the Executive Director of the Daybreak Non Profit Housing Corporation. In the 30+ years of her management consulting practice, she worked with small and medium sized organizations, both non profit and private, locally and abroad, assisting them with strategic planning and organizational development. She also has over 30 years of volunteer experience that includes founding the Ottawa Alumni Association of Concordia University, as well as in Board roles with Big Sisters Ottawa and Daybreak Non Profit Housing including Chair. She also served as a Director at the provincial and national levels for the Board of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario, and the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CMC-Canada) respectively. She is a member of the Strategy Planning and Policy Committee for Salus Ottawa and on various Committees of the Alliance to End Homelessness. She was recently appointed as the Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Strategic Management Program at Algonquin College. Alice has used VO s educational programs (i.e. Board Governance Workshops) and volunteer matching services while at Daybreak. Alice is bilingual and has earned an MBA following a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and History, and her Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) and a Fellow Certified Management Consultant Canada (FCMC). Tracey Pope Tracey is an established human resources business partner specializing in building expertise in volunteer and employee resources management, leading transformation initiatives and driving strategic and operational planning. An effective thought partner and facilitator Tracey considers herself to have been fortunate to have held various leadership roles with the Canadian Red Cross for the past fourteen years. She proudly maintains her relationship with CRC; now in a volunteer capacity. Tracey is often heard saying to others if an opportunity presents itself, take it! You will most certainly learn from it and you never know where it may lead!
2 Originally from Montreal, Tracey now calls Ottawa/Gatineau home. Tracey s greatest privilege in life has been watching her three children grow into thriving, contributing adults. Her heart has been most recently filled with the addition of her first grandson Oli (Olivier). Natalie Rumscheidt Natalie has a diverse background in strategic marketing and communications with over 20 years of management experience from Canadian sport, business development, and performing arts sectors. Currently, as the Marketing and Communications Director of the Coaching Association of Canada, Natalie works with partners of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) to raise the skills, stature, and value of coaches in Canada. Natalie s marketing, event management, and media relations experience has focused on delivering successful and creative campaign strategies across diverse platforms. She previously held the role of Senior Marketing Manager for the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and has worked with organizing committees of the Canada Games, the Commonwealth Games, the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the Blue Nose International Marathon. Throughout her career, Natalie has concentrated on building strong, successful operational teams, brands, and results. A native of Ottawa, Natalie holds a B.A. from St. Francis Xavier University. A passionate sports fan and lover of the arts, she also remains active as a volunteer, athlete, and coach in her community. Mahima Sharma Mahima is the Manager of Environment and Regulatory Affairs at the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC). She provides informed advice to government regarding pulp, paper, and wood products manufacturing processes for policy development. She also works with industry on policy and technical issues relating to environmental regulations and climate change. Mahima has completed a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the Telfer School of Management. Through her studies, she held an internship position with the senior leadership team at The Ottawa Hospital. She also holds a graduate degree in Chemical Engineering, and completed a BASc and BSc, (H) from the University of Ottawa. As an Ottawa native dedicated to her community, Mahima served as Chair of the Student Advisory Committee at the Children s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), was an active volunteer with the Queensway Carleton Hospital, and a former member of United Way s Youth Action Panel.
3 Jason Solomon Jason is an IT project manager with Statistics Canada and enjoys collaborating with start-ups and innovation across all domains. In the past 25 years Jason has worked and volunteered with not-for-profits, startups, academic institutions, public sector and spent 11 years in the military as an Infanteer. Jason has previous experience in governance with both private sector and not-for-profit board directorships. Jason received his Honours Bachelor of Commerce with a specialty in Management Information Systems from Lakehead University in 1999, Masters of Business Administration degree from Telfer (2013), and Masters of Project Management certification from Sprott (2010) and holds PMP & ITIL foundation designations. Evelyn Spence Evelyn is a lawyer specializing in corporate, regulatory and administrative law. Before moving into the role of in-house legal counsel in 2011, Evelyn worked as part of a busy commercial litigation group in a mid-sized Toronto law firm. Evelyn is committed to serving her community and shares her time, skills and experience with a number of diverse organizations. She currently acts as a part-time adjudicator with the Ontario Licence Appeal Tribunal and is a mentor with the Schulich School of Law. She has served as the Complaints Review Councillor and as a member of the Discipline Committee with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, and recently sat on the Elections Committee for a national regulatory body; adjudicating elections and campaigningrelated issues. Evelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen's University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University. Anne Butler Anne is Vice-President of Research, Policy and Legal Services at Payments Canada. She is responsible for all aspects of the corporation s research, policy and legal activities, including advising the Board of Directors and its committees and advisory councils. Before joining the CPA in June 2015, Anne held a senior executive position at a Canadian life insurance company, where she held positions of progressive responsibility, most recently leading the Legal, Compliance, Communications and Human Resources teams. Anne received her LL.B from Queen's University Faculty of Law in 1995 and was called to the Ontario Bar in She has held various volunteer positions, including the Board for the Community Foundation of Kingston and Area and is currently a mentor with the Canadian Corporate Council Association.
4 Asiyeh Norouzpour Asiyeh has over ten years of experience in finance and accounting in several different sectors including banking, manufacturing, and software programming industries and most recently at the Canadian Red Cross, a not-for-profit organization. She has been a volunteer for several organizations including the Iranian Canadian Association of New Brunswick, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan as event organizer, fundraiser and treasurer. Asiyeh has a bachelor degree in Industrial Management from University of Tehran and an MBA from University of New Brunswick. She has received her Chartered Professional Accountant designation, CPA, in Claudia von Zweck Claudia is an occupational therapist in private practice in Ottawa. She has diverse governance experience with not-for-profit organizations as a senior executive as well as through volunteer roles with a number of community agencies. In addition to joining the VO Board in 2014, Claudia currently serves as the project lead for several initiatives of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. Claudia holds a Master s of Science degree in Epidemiology and Doctorate in Rehabilitation Science from Queen s University. She teaches in the Masters of Rehabilitation Science Program with the University of British Columbia and holds appointments as a Clinical Assistant Professor with both McMaster University and the University of British Columbia. Nancy Beerkens Nancy is a designated CPA, and is currently consulting with the National Research Council of Canada, with a focus on process re-engineering. Over the past 25 years, she has worked in both the private and public sector, in Vancouver, Toronto and more recently Ottawa. She has held senior and executive roles across a number of industries, specializing in change management, contract negotiations, commercial finance, operational analysis and business development. Born in North Bay, and raised in Wawa, Ontario, Nancy attended the University of Waterloo, where she earned an Honours Co-op degree in Mathematics & Business Administration. She is a long time canvasser for Heart & Stroke, the Dementia Society and a 30-year Terry Fox run participant. The best of times are still getaways with her husband and their grown daughter and son.
5 Christina Bova Christina is the Manager of Member Services for the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP). She has also been responsible for the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS), a methodology used across Canada to assess the acuity of patients presenting in the Emergency Department. Elsewhere over her 18-year career, she spent 7.5 years as the Manager of Corporate Gifts and Events at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI), 14 years in accounting at North York General Hospital and four years in sales. Christina has used VO s services at both CAEP and UOHI as well as served as a volunteer on VO s Campaign Committee. She was a Board member of the Women s Business Network of Ottawa and chaired their Internal Communications Committee. Christina has a Bachelor s of Science in Forensic Biology, a Management Certificate from Carleton University and a Certificate in Leadership from Algonquin College. Adrienne Vienneau Adrienne is a reputable public relations and communications professional with 20 years of experience. Currently, she works as Chief Communications Officer at CHEO including oversight of its volunteer resources. Previously, she worked in various management roles spanning marketing, public relations and communications in the high technology sector, most recently at IBM. She is a proud graduate of both the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College. As an active volunteer, she enjoys supporting her local community. Lola Dubé-Quibell Lola has over 30 years of industry experience which includes a long association with Volunteer Ottawa and many of Volunteer Ottawa s members and related associations. She is currently Ottawa Public Health s Coordinator of Volunteer Resources; a role she has held for the past 17 years. Earlier in her career, Lola spent over a decade in sales and marketing at Canada Post. She has been a past Co-Chair of the Ontario Public Health Volunteer Resources Management Network (VRMN) and the Ottawa Administrators of Volunteer Resources (OAVR), as well as a Board Director at Centre Soleil and the Civic Institute of Professional Personnel. Lola has a Masters from Laurentian University and obtained a Certificate in Volunteer Administration from Algonquin College.
