Dr. Astrup is co-founder and co-owner of the University of Copenhagen spin-out companies Mobile Fitness A/S, Personalized Weight Management Research Consortium ApS (Gluco-diet.dk), and Flaxslim ApS, where he is also member of the board. Dr. Astrup is not an advocate or activist for specific diets and is not strongly committed to any specific diet, e.g., veganism, Atkins diet, glutenfree diet, high animal protein diet, or dietary supplements. Dennis M Bier Dr. Bier accepts no honorarium for the work he performs as Editor-in-Chief of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Bier is an advisor to the International Council on Amino Acid Science, whose members include companies that produce and market amino acids for medical, biological, and industrial purposes. Dr. Bier provides the Council with advice on scientific priorities, assistance in organizing scientific symposia on amino acids, and evaluation of competitive applications for research funding. Other than reimbursement for travel expenses, he accepts no compensation for his advisory role. Dr. Fukagawa serves as Director of the USDA Beltsville Human Nutrition Center. Dr. Fukagawa is the Editor-in-Chief of Nutrition Reviews. David M Klurfeld Dr. Klurfeld does not receive an honorarium from the American Society for Nutrition for his duties as Associate Editor. Dr. Klurfeld is a nutrition consultant to Dyets, Inc, a manufacturer of diets for laboratory animals. Dr. Klurfeld is a member of the American Council on Science and Health Board of Scientific and Policy Advisors whose function is to provide advice and review of statements developed by the organization. This is a noncompensated position. Simin Liu Dr. Liu reports consulting payments and honoraria or promises of the same for scientific presentations or reviews at numerous venues, including but not limited to Barilla, Johns Hopkins University, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Harvard University, University of Buffalo, GuangDong General Hospital and Academy of Medical Sciences, and the National Institutes of Health. Mark J Manary Dr. Manary is the Director of Project Peanut Butter, a not-for-profit focusing on improving the treatment of malnutrition as well as the production of appropriate, nutrient-dense foods. His present research activities are funded primarily by Children s Investment Fund Foundation and USAID Feed the Future program. Dr. Manary has accepted contributions of food ingredients necessary for his research work from Arla Dairy Ingredients. Dr. Manary has provided technical advice in areas of his competence on an ad-hoc basis. He does not own personal stock except for investment funds related to his pension that are not under his direct control. Dr. Manary is a member of the WHO technical expert committee on nutrition, which reviews evidence and writes draft guidelines for treatment and prevention of malnutrition worldwide.
