1 Professional Recognition Awards 2015 The Professional Recognition Program provides an opportunity to recognize the significant contributions of Members to the Association. The OAMRS was proud to honour the following recipients at the Awards Ceremony in Hamilton, ON on 9th May, HONOURARY AWARDS The Ken Turnbull Award is presented to a Member who has demonstrated longstanding commitment and dedication to the Association and whose contributions have made a major impact on the Association and the profession. This year s recipient is Wenda Lalande, RTR, US Wenda graduated from the Eastern Ontario School of X-ray Technology and is currently working at the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital. She was Section Chair Coordinator from , but prior to that she was on the Eastern Section Executive from , her positions included Secretary, Treasurer, and Section Chair. She was on the Board of Directors from , including Chair of the Board and President from She has been on the Strategic Planning Committee since She was the AGC Education Cochair in As the newly elected Municipal Councillor for the Stone Mills Township, Wenda feels, all of the many layers of volunteer leadership that have been laid out by the OAMRS, have helped to round out what she considers to be the best career decision. Mary F. Cameron Lecturer: Mary F. Cameron was a founding Member of the Association. She was the main catalyst behind the shaping and development of the present OAMRS. Each year a Member is asked to deliver a lecture in her name. This person is chosen for their contributions to the advancement of the Profession and the example they have set for their peers.

2 The 2015 Mary F. Cameron Lecture titled Creating a Research Culture within Clinical Departments was presented by Dr. Tara Rosewall, RTT. Dr. Tara Rosewall is the Radiation Therapy Research Leader at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre where she is responsible for developing Radiation Therapist research capacity. She graduated as a Radiation Therapist in 1990, gaining a Diploma from the College of Radiographers in the UK. From 1997 onwards, Tara has studied part-time, receiving first a Bachelor s degree, then a Masters, and this year successfully completed her PhD. Tara s research interests focus on the development of personalized radiation therapy for pelvic cancer, generating more than 40 publications. She is also committed to the growth of Radiation Therapy as an evidence-based profession. Tara has written and presented internationally on this topic, and has been the recipient of various awards for her research leadership. The Les Fox OAMRS Education Award is given in memory of Les Fox, an educational pioneer, who was instrumental in initiating structured training programs in Ontario. This award is given to a Member who has made an outstanding impact or contribution in the field of education. This year s recipient is John Henry, RTR. John graduated from Fanshawe College and received his BA at Charles Stuart University. He worked at London Health Sciences, University Hospital specializing in sports injuries. He was promoted to be the the Clinical Coordinator there for 11 years. John is now a professor at Fanshawe College in London, and has been on numerous hospital and college committees. John inspires his students with his passion for the profession and promotes membership in the OAMRS.

3 Directors Recognition Award This award is given in recognition of their dedicated service as a Director of the Association. Each has given countless hours of volunteer time and has completed a minimum term on the Board of Directors. The following Directors will be coming off the Board after their term s drawn to a close on June 30 th, Janet Goodall, RTNM Lori Cooke, RTR, US Lynda Jackson, RTT Danica Prusic, US SPECIAL SERVICE CERTIFICATE Special Service Certificate is awarded to a Member in recognition of service and dedication to the Association. This year there are two recipients. Robert Chatelain, RTR graduated from Mohawk College. He is a Member of the Education Committee for the Ottawa Section and was Education Chair for the OAMRS AGC in 2010, 2011, and for the CAMRT AGC in He has lectured at the OAMRS AGC in 2012 and the CAMRT AGC in 2011, as well as Education Days. He was the OAMRS Auditor for 2014 and is currently involved with educational events, obtaining speakers for the events, and registration with the Ottawa Section.

4 Angela McNeil, RTT graduated from Fanshawe College. She was on the Board of Directors from , in her second year her role was Treasurer. She has been on the Audit & Budget Team, Risk Management, Risk Identification and Analysis teams. She was Ottawa Section Chair from SPECIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT CERTIFICATE Special Acknowledge Certificate is awarded to a Member or friend of the Association in recognition of long-term and dedication to the OAMRS. Caroline Souter, RTNM taught at the Michener Institute for 17 years. She has been on the Central Section Executive, including Secretary, since 2007 and is now Chair of the Central Section. She was co-chair of the AGC in 2009, and has given presentations at Section meetings and in-hospital. In 2000, she was education Committee Coordinator for the CAMRT AGC. She has also been an Invigilator for CAMRT and Sonography Canada (formally known as CARDUP). Section Recognition Award These awards are given to a Member, at the Section level, who has made a remarkable contribution and volunteer effort to their Section in the past year. 5 Provincial Volunteer Service Awards These awards are presented to Members that have committed their time as Volunteers for the Association for several years. The OAMRS has nominated 6 Members to receive these awards. The awards will be presented at several Provincial ceremonies until the end of June. Julie Mathewson, RTNM Carol Collier, RTR Umberto Pala, RTR Hema Merai, RTNM Elizabeth Minns, RTR Caroline Souter, RTNM Student Academic Achievement Awards These awards are presented to Student Members who have achieved the highest overall mark on their CAMRT and Ultrasound examinations in each Discipline. TB Hurst Student Academic Achievement Award Carson Lazier, RTR graduated from Cambrian College. He is currently working at Trenton Memorial Hospital. Roberta McCammond Student Academic Achievement Award Matthew Fraser, RTT graduated from the Michener Institute and is working at The Ottawa Hospital. Anne Topple Student Academic Achievement Award JoonYong Seo, RTNM graduated from the Michener Institute.

6 Mary Jon Lachance Student Academic Achievement Award Christopher Yu Cruz, RTNM, RTMR graduated from the Michener Institute. Danica Prusic Student Academic Achievement Award Pamela Beer, US graduated from the Michener Institute. She is working at London Health Sciences. Marina Panciuc, US graduated from the Michener Institute and is working at Sunnybrook Health Sciences. Denis Poulin Student Academic Achievement Award Hersha Dultra, US graduated from Mohawk-McMaster. She is working at Chinook Cardiology in Lethbridge, Alberta.
