Imagine struggling for each breath that you take something most people don t think twice about. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a chronic, progressive and life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. The simple acts of breathing and eating can be a challenge for a person with CF. The CF Foundation is the world s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation has a unique and successful approach to developing drugs for a rare disease and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau s Wise Giving Alliance, meeting all of its Standards for Charitable Accountability. We take great pride in being one of the most efficient and effective organizations of our kind, and are careful stewards of every dollar raised in support of our mission. Through our venture philanthropy model, we are able to invest in promising CF research and a robust pipeline of potential therapies that target the disease from every angle. This is a transformational time in CF history. In fact, our pursuit of innovative strategies that attack CF at the genetic level has already lead to two breakthrough treatments that address the underlying cause of this disease Kalydeco and Orkambi and could one day lead to a cure for all people with CF. Kalydeco and Orkambi are part of a continuum of progress in CF drug development that has led to tremendous gains in life expectancy for people with CF, which has doubled in the past 30 years. Our progress is clear and our successes are tangible, yet we continue to lose precious lives to this disease every day. There is still much work to do to assure Casey O Leary and ALL CF patients live the long, full and healthy life they deserve.

Lynn Rudolf, Co-Chair Important Note on Attendance at Foundation Events: To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact, as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To further help reduce the risk of crossinfection, the Foundation s attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to an indoor Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has unrestricted financial reserves of about 13 times its budgeted annual expenses, following a one-time royalty sale in These funds, along with the public s continuing support, are needed to help accelerate our efforts to pursue a lifelong cure for this fatal disease, develop lifesaving new therapies and help all people with CF live full, productive lives.
