regular bicycling costumes were in vogue around the campus when he was a student during O U's salad days Dr Wails is now director the Nashoba Associated Boards Health in Ayer, Massachusetts Mrs Wails is the former Carrie B Buttram, '19fa 1915 John T Harley, '15law, Tulsa attorney, has been appointed judge the Common Pleas Court in Tulsa by Gov Leon C Phillips Mr Harley has served as county attorney Tulsa County and assistant U S District Attorney at Muskogee During World War I, he was a lieutenant in the Field Artillery Mrs Harley is the former Mary Elizabeth Fonvielle, '24he 1917 Bennett Griffin, '176a, famed flier and aviation executive, was in Oklahoma City for a few days late in August, visiting friends and relatives Mr Griffin has been with the Civil Aeronautics Authority since 1933 He was engaged in experimental work in Washington before his appointment as director the C AA Standardization Center at Houston, Texas, which trains pilots for the Ferry Command Mr Griffin joined the ranks great experimental pilots in 1932, when he and Jimmy Mattern attempted an aroundthe-world flight and were forced down in western Russia Senator Ernest W McFarland, '176a, Arizona, was in Oklahoma for several days during August, visiting relatives and friends in Oklahoma City, Shawnee, Earlsboro and Seminole Senator Mc- Farland, who was reared in Earlsboro, is a native Oklahoma, despite the fact that he represents another state His home is in Florence, Arizona 1918 L B Holland, '18eng, who has been stationed in Chicago with the Office the Petroleum Co-ordinator as engineer and materials man, has been transferred to Washington for some special work Ruth Johnson, '17-18, has been appointed a member the Oklahoma State Board Embalmers Miss Johnson, who is a sister Walter Johnson, head the state Public Safety Department, is operator a funeral establishment in Pawhuska 1921 Caroline Seitz, '2lzool, administrator the cafeteria in the Ponca City High School, took a special refresher course in hotel administration at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, last summer, and visited friends along the way Phil Kramer, '21law, has resigned as member the Tulsa County excise board to accept a position in the legal department the Shell Oil Company, Centralia, Illinois Wayde H McCallister, '216a, '38m ed, has been appointed principal Harding Junior High School, Oklahoma City He was principal Webster Junior High School there for the last six years 1922 Miss Lyndal Swford, '226a, has been appointed acting librarian at Western Illinois State Teachers College at Macomb She has been in the library at Macomb since 1939, having formerly served as librarian at Central State Teachers College, Edmond Leo C Murray, '22bs, is teaching history and directing the band and orchestra at El Reno High School 1923 Lloyd Van Deventer, '23, has been elected superintendent schools at Tipton For the last eight years, he was superintendent at Wellington 1924 G S Sanders, '19-'24, president Southwestern Institute Technology, Weatherford, is the only college president in Oklahoma and one the few in the United States to hold a private pilot's license His interest in aviation has spread through the whole college Southwestern, through his influence, has contracted with the Army to train aviation mechanics, and the Civilian Pilot Training program there has sent many graduates into the Army as instructors and combat pilots Harlan Grimes, '23-'24, and his brother, Russell Grimes, '2-'24, both Houston, and his have started a wildcat well on an 8,-acre lease spread near Grapeland, Texas, in Houston County The latter was formerly a geologist with the Shell Oil Company WAGGONER-JACKSON : Miss Lenora Waggoner, formerly Frederick, was married to Milton J Jackson, '24ba, Los Angeles, on August 2 in Hollywood Mrs Jackson, an employee the Jefferson Life Insurance Company for the last several years, has worked in branch fices in Oklahoma City, Denver and Los Angeles Mr Jackson, a member Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, is the west coast mortgage loan inspector for the same life insurance company The couple are living near Hollywood William Jones, '25law, has resigned as county judge Pittsburg County to go into private law practice with a firm which has fices in Hartshorne Mortar Board Officer LOUISE HOHL GREVE, '32BA Mrs Paul Greve (Louise Hohl, '32ba), Tulsa, has been appointed director Section 7 Mortar Board, women's national honor society, including colleges and universities in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, Texas and Colorado While attending the University, Mrs Greve was president one year Associated Women Students, winner a Dads' Day award in 1931, member Phi Beta Kappa honor society and Delta Gamma sorority, and winner a Letzeiser medal After graduation, she taught Latin and American literature for four years in Sand Springs High School She and Mr Greve, an attorney for the Mid-Continent Petroleum Corporation, have a two-year-old daughter, Margaret Ann and Oklahoma City Mr Jones formerly practiced in Shawnee and Tulsa Odeal Locke, '24ba, '4ma, former Norman High School teacher, has been appointed to a teaching position in Holdenville High School 1926 Mrs Erncstc Brunozzi (Helen Watson, '266a) has returned from Hawaii to accept a teaching position in Hartshorne She resigned at Hartshorne several years ago to make her home at Wailuku, on the island Maui Mrs John C Conrad (Mellie Driskell, '26he) is teaching vocational home economics in the school at Wyandotte Mrs Charles F Giard (Isabel DeBarr, '24-'26), Norman, died August 19 in Oklahoma City, following an extended illness Survivors include her husband, Charles F Giard, pressor music at the University, and her parents, Mr and Mrs Edwin DeBarr, Norman Robert W Ingram, '26ba, is sports editor the El Paso Herald-Post in Texas McBRIDE-STOOPS : Miss Edith L McBride, '24- '26, and Ralph C Stoops, both Ponca City, were married in Tulsa August 8 Mrs Stoops has Hemmendinger, assistant pressor physics at the University, is on leave for work in the same laboratory 1927 Frances Vincent, '27ba, Norman, died September 3 in Oklahoma City, after a week's illness She had been a teacher in the Oklahoma City school system for a number years She was a member the American Association University Women, the Eastern Star, and the Presbyterian Church Survivors include her mother, Mrs Tom Vincent, Norman, and a brother and sister Ina Cavener, '27ba, '28ma, Sapulpa, has accepted a position as librarian and English teacher for the seventh, eighth and ninth grades in the University School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin CUPPS-PAYA : Miss Lucretia Cupps, '26-'27, was married on August 9 to Robert E Paya, in Enid Before her marriage, Mrs Paya was employed by the Champlin services non-partisan, non-political, disinterested advisers in industrial labor disputes Mr Tomkins is director educational extension at Oklahoma A and M College Ford Eleanor Barry, '286a, '39ma, Ardmore, has accepted a position teaching social science in the high school at Liberal, Kansas BUCKER-HAMMONS : Announcement has been made the wedding on January 9 in Temple, Texas, Miss Hermine Bucker, '26-'28, Tulsa, to Guy Hammons, Abilene, Texas Mr and Mrs Hammons are temporarily at home in Tulsa HURLEY-BUMPERS : Mrs Ellen Bryant Hurley, Ada, and' Uel Bumpers, '27-'28, formerly Ada, were married July 19 in the post chapel at Roswell, New Mexico Mrs Bumpers attended Southeastern State College at Durant, and for the last five years has owned and operated the East Central Beauty College is stationed at Scott Field, Illinois, where the couple are making their home 1929 Dr George Calvin Brous, '296a, is the new head the Oklahoma City University department chemistry After graduation from the University, he received his master science and doctor philosophy degrees from New York University, where he later taught Dr Brous also was on the faculty the chemistry department Hstra College, Hempstead, New York A Camp Bonds, '291aw, former county attorney Muskogee County, has been elected to the Muskogee school board Wanda Dalton-Taylor, '29fa, '42mfa, who teaches dramatics in the Woodward High School and Junior College, recently purchased a dress shop in Woodward Claude Dean, '296a, '36m ed, has been appointed principal Carey Grade School in Oklahoma City He was formerly in charge rehabilitation work in the city school system Everett F Drumright, '29bus, U S diplomat in China who was taken prisoner by the Japanese last spring, returned to the United States on the diplomatic exchange liner Gripsholm, which docked August 25 in Jersey City He was repatriated with other diplomats and newspapermen who returned on the Gripsholm Mr Drumright, stationed in China since 1932, has been in diplomatic service since graduating from the University Robert E Shelton, '296a, has joined the U S district attorney's staff at Muskogee after practicing law in Chickasha for the last 13 years Mrs Lee Witcher (Esther Grimes, '29ba, '36lib sci) is employed in the Carnegie Public Library, Oklahoma City She was formerly on the staff the Memphis Public Library and taught in the COOPER : Miss Jane Schowalter and John Marvin Cooper, Jr, '32-'33, both Oklahoma City, were married there on August 26 Mrs Cooper is a graduate Oklahoma City University and was a kindergarten teacher at Westwood School Both Mr and Mrs Cooper are prominent in Oklahoma City musical circles He is supervisor instrument repair at the Oklahoma City Air Depot Jerre Anderson, '33, is chief building inspector for the U S engineers at the Oklahoma City Air Depot, one the largest construction jobs ever done in Oklahoma Stella McKnight Flanery, '33fa, is teaching art at Cleveland School, Oklahoma City Ervin F Glasgow, '33eng, has returned to Oklahoma from Phillips, Texas, to become Oklahoma manager high-octane aviation gasoline manufacture for Phillips Petroleum Company He and Mrs Glasgow (Agues Kassik, '34), are at home in Oklahoma City Angus McDonald, '336a, '34ma, has purchase(] a farm in upstate New York, with the proceeds from his best-seller, "Old McDonald Had a Farm " In his book, Mr McDonald recounted his father's experiences wresting a living from the Oklahoma soil back in the early days Angus is now embarking on a similar venture himself, in a different setting William W Rodgers, '33law, has been sworn in as mayor Blackwell, succeeding Howard F Wilson, '18law, who resigned to enter the army He will hold fice until May l, 1943, when the next election will be held Mr Rodgers is a memher Phi Beta Kappa honorary society and Phi Delta Phi law fraternity Before moving to Blackwell, he practiced law in Oklahoma City and worked for a time as a reporter on the Daily Oklahoman and Oklahoma City Times C H (Chalky) Stogner, '33ba, former athletic coach at Norman High School, has been appointed football and basketball coach for Okmulgee High School His Norman football team last year won the Mid-State Conference championship Before accepting the new position at Okmulgee, Coach Stogner worked for a brief time as an executive at the Choutcau Powder Plant Impressed by the need for persons with telegraphic experience, vivacious Patsy Truscott, '33,
