1 Marylin Alexander Served since 2010 Marylin currently serves on the Lexington City Council as well as numerous other service entities. She has also served on the Lexington City School Board, FAIR (Fine Arts in Rockbridge), the YMCA, First Baptist Church as treasurer and trustee, NAACP and others. She previously served on the Marketing and Property Committees at Kendal at Lexington. Marylin manages Rockbridge Area Housing Corporation at Mountainview Terrace Apartments. She lives with her husband, Rick Alexander and has two adult children. Harlan has recently retired from his position as Director of the Shepherd Poverty Program and professor of religion at Washington & Lee. His specialty is ethics and society. Harlan s career also included being a minister in the Methodist church. He has been involved in MANY service organizations, including Campus Kitchens and RATS here in Lexington. Harlan lives with his wife, Debby, here in Lexington. They have strong ties to Kendal at Lexington, as Kalex resident Louise Pope is Debby s mother. Harlan Beckley Elected in 2014

2 Casey is a retired Brigadier General of the US Army. He is currently a professor of history and international relations at VMI. He has a doctorate in Diplomatic and Strategic History from University of Pennsylvania. Casey served in Vietnam and as a special assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe and the Army Aide to the President of the United States, Ronald Reagan. From , he was VMI s Dean of Faculty. His resume includes numerous teaching positions, publications, and lectures. He s the author of World War II in Europe: The Final Year (1998) and Defeating Japan: The Joint Chiefs of Staff and Strategy in the Pacific War (2012). Charles Brower (Casey) Served since 2012 He and his wife, Eileen, have lived in Lexington since He has two grown children and twin granddaughters, Mary Ford and Cate, who have him and Eileen exactly where they want them. A graduate of Hampden Sydney College, Frank is currently the Financial Advisor and Business Development person for Cornerstone Bank. Frank s previous service includes time on the Lexington City School Board and City Council, the United Way Board, as well as the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission. He is currently serving as an elder at Lexington Presbyterian Church, working for the March of Dimes, and serving on the board of directors of the YMCA. Frank Friedman Served since 2011 Frank lives in Lexington and is the father of three children.

3 Bob comes to us as the President Emeritus of Ohio University. He has a doctorate in music and has taught at six universities. Bob currently also serves on the vestry at R.E. Lee Episcopal Church and is president of the Rockbridge Area United Way. Bob lives in Rockbridge Baths with his wife, René. They have three daughters and five grandchildren. 4 Farris has served Kendal at Lexington since the very conception and was instrumental in its founding. He has previously served on Kendal s board of directors and was chair from A graduate of W&L, he also worked for the university for most of his career. He has given of his time and talents to many of our local agencies, and he continues to serve at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, RE Lee Episcopal Church, Rockbridge Area Hospice, and at Washington & Lee. Farris also serves on the Kendal Charitable Funds board at Kendal Corporation. Farris Hotchkiss Served since 2013 and Farris and his wife live in Lexington. They have three children and three grandchildren.

5 Norm was born in Evanston, Illinois, and, after 3 years in the US Navy, earned a degree in Electrical Engineering at Northwestern University in After over 36 years with the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY, he retired from their steam-turbine business as Manager of Generator Engineering. Norm and his wife, Lolly, have 3 daughters, 4 granddaughters, and 4 great grandchildren, most of whom live in various parts of Virginia. After retirement they shared the next 15 years alternately between Florida and New York, and then came to Kendal at Lexington in 2000 when the doors first opened. Norm Jones Served since 2007 Norm is currently completing 7 years on the Kendal Board of Directors, is a past President of the Kendal Residents Association, is serving on several Association committees, and has served on various previous boards in both Scotia and Florida.

6 Pam is head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at W&L. Before coming to Washington and Lee in 2001, she had been a newspaper reporter and editor for 25 years. She has a master s in journalism and in business administration. Pam is a member of Lexington Investors, past president of the local United Way, and an enthusiastic tennis player. She and her husband, George Graves, live in Lexington. Pam Luecke Served since 2008

7 Hardin is the retired managing partner of his law firm, Tydings and Rosenberg LLP, in Baltimore, MD. He has a bachelors and a law degree from W&L. He served on the W&L Board of Trustees from He has chaired the Kendal board since In addition to his extensive service to Kendal, Hardin serves on the Session of the Lexington Presbyterian Church and the advisory board for the W&L Alumni College. He has audited scores of classes at W&L during the past 12 years. Hardin Marion Served since 2007 Dawn Peck Served since 2012 Hardin and his wife, Heather, have lived in Lexington for 12 years. They have four children and six grandchildren. Dawn joined the Kalex Board of Directors at the September, 2012, meeting. Dawn is a retired developmental pediatrician; received her medical degree from George Washington University Medical School; advanced training at West Virginia University and the University of Virginia. Her current work includes leading contemplative prayer retreats, helping to facilitate training for clergy state-wide in spiritual formation, and leading a monthly contemplative prayer group. Training/certification for this work is through the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, D.C. Dawn has volunteered with the Rockbridge Area Youth Task Force, YMCA, Lexington City Youth Council, and with at-risk children. Dawn lives in Lexington with her husband, Tom. They have four children and three grandchildren.

8 Joan received her bachelor of science in nursing from Boston University. She has been nursing and teaching nursing in various medical settings around the Lexington area since moving here in Joan has also used her medical training in a variety of community service activities, and she belongs to many professional organizations. Joan s latest project was the revitalization of Jewish life at W&L. Almost singlehandedly, Joan coordinated the construction of the Hillel House. Joan Robins Served since 2011 Joan lives with her husband, Malcolm Cothran, a retired physician, has two daughters and two stepdaughters, one grandchild and five step-grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, hiking and yoga.

9 A resident of Kendal, Trix hails from Baltimore. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and Cooperstown Graduate Programs (SUNY). Trix was employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 38 years and had a distinguished career assisting in many facets of the historic area. Beatrix Rumford (Trix) Served since 2013 Since moving to Kendal at Lexington in 2009, Trix has served on the Residents Council, the Executive Director Search Committee, and the Philanthropy Committee. Using her professional background, she was instrumental in establishing the resident art gallery and continues to assist with its changing exhibits. Kim is a graduate of the American College of Switzerland in Lucerne. She has held employment positions including office management, project development, and budget coordinating. Kim s volunteer activities include Collegiate School, Habitat for Humanity, Ukrops Monument Avenue 10K, the United Way, Yellow Brick Road School, Lisa s House, Rockbridge Area League of Women Voters, and the Lexington Downtown Development Association. Kimberley Ruscio (Kim) Served since 2008 Kim lives with her husband, Ken, at the Lee House at W&L. They have one son.

10 Bill was born in Philadelphia, and is a graduate of Washington & Lee. He spent his career as an investment advisor and retired in He has been active in various positions with the W&L Alumni Association, and, rumor has it that you will often find him on a golf course! Bill and his wife, Karen, live on Sycamore Lane. He is the father of four daughters and has four grandchildren. William Russell (Bill) Elected in 2014

11 Carol is a CPA and currently serves as the CFO at the George C. Marshall Foundation. Carol has had a fascinating career including time as a Foreign Service Office, a professor in Viet Nam, an associate dean at St. Lawrence University, a financial advisor in Lexington, and CFO of the Rockbridge County Public Schools. Carol s contributions to the community are too numerous to list, but she currently serves on the Rockbridge Area Hospice board of directors, the Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club, and the Rockbridge County Schools Foundation. Carol Wheeler Served since 2013 Carol and her husband have lived in Lexington for 30 years. The Wheelers have two grown sons, one who lives in the Middle East and one in Staunton. They also two grandchildren one granddaughter and one newborn.

12 Sally Wiant Served since 2009 Sally holds a master s degree from the University of North Texas and a law degree from W&L. For many years she was the Director of the Law Library at W&L and taught in the area of copyrights, trademarks, patents, and admiralty, and she supervised student judicial clerks. Recently, she has been teaching torts and first year writing and in the new W&L third year practice program in intellectual property. Sally is the mother of one child, and she enjoys singing, cooking, and reading mysteries.

13 Linda is a Missouri native, attended Central Missouri University and graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Secondary Education (English major). She spent 35 years in Detroit, raising two children and working as a consultant for human resources with a focus on employee benefits. The last several years of her working career were spent in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Her daughter Jennifer and family live in suburban Detroit. Son John and his family live in Philadelphia. Linda & her husband Alec live in Rockbridge County on a small farm, with a large garden & a small herd of cattle. She currently serves as the chair of the Board of Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity. She is also an active member of Collierstown Presbyterian Church and enjoys her work on the Board of Kendal at Lexington. Previous service includes the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church USA, Stonewall Jackson House, and the Rockbridge Library Board Foundation and Rockbridge Grown. Linda Wilder Served since 2011 Linda is also an active member of an area investment club and a garden club. She is a weaver with an interest in fiber arts. In the spare moments left, she loves to entertain and spend as much time as possible with a good book.
