10 Invitation to the round table Korea Your Business Partner Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, South Korea is one of the four Tiger countries: About fifty years ago South Korea was an isolated agricultural country on the same level with poor African or Asian states. Since the 1960s the country has developed at a rapid rate into one of the most important national economies worldwide taking global leadership in several technology sectors. On its journey through Germany the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy would like to find new co-operation partners for Korea. The group of participants consists of a small, intimate group with representatives from producing German companies, from the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy and various representatives from different areas. The aim of the event is to give you an insight into the economic and investment policies of the South Korean government. Furthermore you receive valuable information about country strategies and the Korean market. Benefit from mutual knowledge exchange and from the opportunity to make direct contacts and initiate business deals to Korean representatives and German business partners. 13 Press Release Active interest in South Korea South Korea is known worldwide not only as a land of technology and the location of leading international companies, but also as a tiger state with dynamic economic growth and as the gate to the markets in China and East Asia. The cooperation with Korean companies is much sought after by partners all over the globe. Many German businesses already look back at a long standing, successful history of cooperation with South Korea. Therefore it was hardly surprising that high ranking representatives from German companies, mainly from the fields of mechanical engineering, new materials and renewable energy, arrived. The opening speech from Rainer Reißaus, Head of Head of Unit for foreign economics of the IHK Dresden, was followed by a sincere welcome address of the Korean delegation. Among the 30 high-profile hosts were not only representatives of the South Korean Government and free economic zones, but also representatives from renowned companies such as SNE Research and Samil PWC. Next to detailed introductions to the provinces and individual companies, Mr Park of the Deutsche Bank presented FX Regulations in Korea. Dr. Sven Grundmann lectured about successful investment in Korea, pointing as an outstanding example to his employer: Robert Bosch GmbH. As a finale, intensive individual discussions between Korean and German participants, which were extremely well appreciated, took place during a luncheon. We are very happy about the great success of the event, we thank all guests for their participation and wish only the best for their future and their cooperation with South Korea. 13
