Recently though the growth dynamics have weakened, and it is unclear whether this is a temporary result of overstocked supply chains in various incumbent industries, or whether it is a larger, more structural correction. This year s conference in Chicago will examine this and other relevant commercial challenges and opportunities that the American stainless steel industry will face in the rest of 2013 and beyond. Steel Plant 16th of September 2013 Established in 1879 as a small forging facility to make tooling used for reclaiming brick from buildings destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of Now operating out of a recently completed plant on the South-side of Chicago that has greatly expanded production capacity and product capability. Tour will view 90 ton, 90 MVA, water-cooled Electric Arc Furnace that is supplemented with a Ladle Metallurgy Furnace and a Vacuum Argon Degassing system with Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization capability. Forging capability has been increased with the addition of a new 8,000 ton hydraulic, open-die forging press. Heat treating and machining departments are included in the tour.
