Candidate for Chair Laurie Fox State University of New York at Geneseo (SUNY), NY, USA BS, SUNY Geneseo, 1990, Management Science and Management Information Systems. Assistant Director and Manager of Educational Technology, SUNY Geneseo, NY, 2015 Present; Assistant Director and Manager of Support Services, SUNY Geneseo, NY, ; Network Analyst, SUNY Geneseo, NY, Technology Leadership in Higher Education; Professional Development & Mentoring; Educational Technology; Project & Service Management; Personal Productivity & Time Management. Executive Board - Information Director, SIGUCCS, 2014 Present; Member & Chair, SIGUCCS Marketing Committee, 2012 Present; Conference Chair, SIGUCCS 2016 Conference; Program Co-Chair, SIGUCCS 2013 Conference. Member & Previous Vice Chair, NYCHES, 2012 Present; Member, Educause, 1997 Present; ELI 2016 Annual Meeting Program Committee, Educause, I am excited for the opportunity to continue as part of the SIGUCCS Executive Committee as Chair. I currently hold the position of Information Director, with responsibilities that include our website, social media presence, and marketing committee. Strengths that I bring to the Board include my strong, dynamic leadership style, an understanding of conference planning and logistics, and a commitment to growing our professional community and conference attendance. My involvement with SIGUCCS began in 2006, when I presented at the Edmonton conference. My conference leadership roles include conference chair (2016) and program co-chair (2013). I have also volunteered with numerous conference committees as first-timers coordinator, social networking coordinator, mobile app administrator, reader, and session chair.
Outside of the conference, you can find me keeping in touch with my SIGUCCS colleagues online through Slack, our list, and social networking channels. My goals include: 1. Elevating awareness of the SIGUCCS community and growing conference attendance through focused marketing efforts. 2. Increasing the visibility and transparency of board activities and decisions. 3. Developing collaborations with other communities, including related ACM SIGs and other professional organizations. I will be honored to work with each of you on SIGUCCS great future.
Candidate for Chair Melissa Bauer Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, OH, USA BA, Baldwin Wallace University, 1986, Business Management. Director of IT Engagement, Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, OH, 2015 Present; Manager of User Services, Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, OH, ; Assistant Manager of User Services, Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, OH, Project Management; Leadership; Technology Planning; Event Planning; Budget Planning. Board Vice Chair, SIGUCCS, ; Board Treasurer, SIGUCCS, ; 2010 Conference Chair, SIGUCCS, 2010; 2008 Conference Treasurer, SIGUCCS, Since attending my first SIGUCCS conference in 2002, I have actively volunteered at each one. I have had many leadership roles including Conference Treasurer in 2007 and 2008 and Conference Chair in I have served on two Executive Committees, in as Treasurer and currently as the Conference Liaison/Vice Chair. In this role, I provide leadership for the conference committees. My SIGUCCS contributions combined with my experience in other professional organizations, my background in IT leadership and my current position as the Director of IT Engagement, prepared me to lead SIGUCCS forward as new challenges emerge. Increased and more effective marketing to increase membership would be an important emphasis of my term. We offer a niche unlike most other IT organizations. I believe we can build a stronger network of peer support by addressing the needs of young professionals as they begin their journey in technology by offering professional development and networking opportunities with seasoned professionals. I am committed to this organization and look forward to continuing my contributions for the 6 years this position requires (chair and past chair). Thank you for your consideration in this opportunity to share my talents and skills.
Christopher King North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA B.A., NC State University, 2001, English Literature. Assistant Director, Technology Support Services, Office of Information Technology, NC State University, Raleigh, NC, 2007 Present; Help Desk Manager, Information Technology Division, NC State University, Raleigh, NC, ; Help Desk Supervisor, Computing Center, NC State University, Raleigh, NC, Strategic Planning; Service Management; Talent Development; Coaching and Mentoring. Program Co-Chair, 2016 SIGUCCS Annual Conference, ; Social Media Chair, 2015 SIGUCCS Annual Conference, ; ACM SIGUCCS Mentor, 2013 Present. VP of Communications, HDI, RTP Chapter, My introduction to SIGUCCS was probably similar to most -- coworkers were involved in the SIG, and had been for quite some time (including our director at the time, a SIGUCCS Hall of Famer), and dragged me to a conference (in my case, Fall 2004 in Baltimore). At that conference, I first discovered that my little corner of higher education IT wasn t as secluded (or as unique) as I had thought, and the potential to connect with other like minds was too good to pass up. I also saw the benefit (and responsibility) to relay my experiences to others, and so I went to my next SIGUCCS conference as a presenter, and I have been involved ever since. My main objective in serving on the Executive Board is to bring back that opportunity for growth that has seemed to disappear of late. Our pool of old timers has, well, gotten old, and we do not have the luxury of relying on them for recruitment. I want to continue to serve this SIG, and I feel that seeing to its continued growth as a member of the Board is how I can serve it best.
Kristen Dietiker Menlo College, Atherton, CA, USA MLIS, University of Washington, 2009, Library and Information Science. Chief Information Officer, Menlo College, Atherton, CA, 2015 Present; Assistant Director, IT, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, 2015; Department Computing Manager, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, Process Improvement; Client Services; IT Security; Infrastructure Services; Strategic Planning. Program Co-Chair, SIGUCCS, 2017; Publicity Chair, SIGUCCS, 2016; Registration Chair, SIGUCCS, ; Management Symposium Track Chair, SIGUCCS, Member, SIGUCCS, 2008 Present; Member, ACM, 2008 Present; Member, ISC2, 2008 Present. Awards: Jane N. Ryland Fellowship, EDUCAUSE, I attended my first SIGUCCS conference in 2008, where I also gave my first conference presentation. During the intervening years, I ve continued to present at SIGUCCS conferences and symposia most years. I ve held a variety of volunteer roles for those conferences, including Reader, Track Chair, Registration Chair, Publicity Chair, and currently Program Co-Chair. In addition, I've participated in the mentoring program and I ve written articles for our member newsletter. As my involvement in SIGUCCS deepened, I found a strong community of dedicated and whip-smart colleagues who have become valued friends.
My involvement in SIGUCCS over the past nine years has reenergized me as a professional. I am continually inspired by the smart and dedicated professionals I meet in SIGUCCS, and I m eager to work toward building a professional community that supports each other, attracts new members, and provides top notch programming that helps you meet your career goals. I would be honored to serve you on the Executive Committee.
Terry Wolff USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work MBA, University of Southern California, 1974, Business Decision Systems. Chief Technology Officer, USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, Los Angeles, CA, 2012 Present; Director of Information Technologies, USC School of Social Work, Los Angeles, CA, ; Director of Information Technologies, Pomona College, Claremont, CA, Human/Computer Interface; Training; Computer-Based Instructional Systems. Management Symposium Co-Program Chair, SIGUCCS, 2012; Conference Co-Chair, SIGUCCS, 2008; Conference Registrar/Conference Treasurer - Numerous times, SIGUCCS, ; Board - Secretary/Treasurer, SIGUCCS, Vice-President/Treasurer, Association for the Development of Computer-Based Instructional System, ; SIG Council, Association for the Development of Computer-Based Instructional System, Awards: Penny Crane Distinguished Service Award, 2013; SIGUCCS Hall of Fame, I have had the privilege of being Conference Chair, Symposium Co-Program Chair, as well as Conference Treasurer and Conference Registrar several times, along with serving on the SIGUCCS Board in the mid-90 s. Much has changed over the years, and much has stayed the same. These aspects of our profession need to be examined and taken into account in the context of our conference planning and with the development of other activities that will encourage participation in the conference by younger technology support professionals, and will bring in participation from more colleges and universities from around the country and the world. More can be done with social
media to connect members and bring in those involved in education computing services. Options need to be investigated and pursued. Additionally, the conference format needs to be carefully analyzed. We have returned to an earlier format, one that years ago spawned what became the Management Symposium, which was merged back into the User Services conference in 2012, and now into a shortened conference. Does the Fall remain the best time of year for our conference? There are many questions that need to be addressed and answered as SIGUCCS moves forward.
Lisa Brown University of Rochester, NY, USA EdD., University of Rochester, 2016, Higher Education Leadership. Assistant Director, University Information Technology, University of Rochester, NY, 2008 Present; Manager, Educational Technology Center, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, ; ResNet Manager, University of Rochester, NY, Communication Awards Chair, SIGUCCS, 2014 Present; Conference Chair, SIGUCCS, 2013; Webmaster, SIGUCCS, 2010; Program Co-Chair, SIGUCCS, Committee Chair, Boy Scout Troop 7, 2014 Present; Chair, NYCHES ACM SIGUCCS, ; Coordinator, NYCHES, I began attending SIGUCCS early in my higher education IT career. It has been my pleasure to be an active member of SIGUCCS for twenty years, serving as a member of numerous conference committees, as conference chair, and recently as Communications Awards chair. SIGUCCS has provided me with a number of personal and professional growth opportunities over the course of my career and I want to help others benefit from similar opportunities. I am looking to become a member of the board and help guide the SIGUCCS organization into the future by looking for ways to enhance the current conference and provide occasion for members to connect throughout the year. I believe that people and connections are at the heart of this organization. We all face the same issues at our respective institutions and this organization is a mechanism for IT professionals in higher education to work together to solve common issues. As an organization, we need to look for ways to increase membership, encourage networking, and share our successes.
Alexa Spigelmyer Penn State University, State College, PA, USA Associates, South Hills School of Business and Technology, 2010, Computer Information Systems. IT Support Specialist, Penn State University, State College, PA, 2010 Present. IT Support/Helpdesk; Hardware, both End User and Enterprise; Systems Management; Systems Design; Systems Administration. It is an honor being nominated for the Executive Committee of SIGUCCS. Since first joining SIGUCCS back in 2012, I have had the privilege of presenting as well as serving on the conference committee consecutively for the past three years in varying roles. My time with SIGUCCS has been fulfilling, enjoyable, and extremely beneficial to my work. SIGUCCS represents what I feel is a truly singular approach to our ever-changing field. It is empowering, supportive, diverse, and most of all, it helps us build connections with people all across the world. Year after year I've seen first-hand how dedicated and talented the people who organize and support it are. In that regard, I wish to continue to add my part to this wonderful conference. I bring a strong background in technology and due to the progressive nature of SIGUCCS, I am able to add an exuberance and energy to its world. I would like to be an even more-involved member of this exciting group, as I truly believe in its mission and the people who built it.

I will contribute my extensive experience and familiarity with the Resnet, Inc. Student Technology Conference where I served in similar roles as a conference volunteer, presenter and member of the Resnet Inc. Board of Directors and President. I believe SIGUCCS provides recognized ways for professional growth and development. That growth and development takes many forms: interpersonal, technical and job related. SIGUCCS puts these growth and development opportunities into one package. I want to be a part of shaping that package.

I have benefitted immensely from the collective knowledge, creative spirit, and collaborative energy of this group. The people of SIGUCCS have inspired and challenged me, and I am prepared to take my contributions to the next level as part of the SIGUCCS executive committee. We support each other throughout our sometimes heroic, sometimes hysterical, professional endeavors. Supporting the connections between the talented and passionate people that make up
our membership is key to helping this community to thrive. I believe I can help create and nurture these connections, both around the conference activities and throughout the year. When I was asked to consider running, I was told that my mindfulness, calm demeanor, and ability to look outside the box would make me an excellent candidate. I further believe that my optimism and belief in people will help shape the direction of this powerful community in a positive way. Not satisfied with the status quo, I will challenge norms and assumptions, while supporting our existing effective strategies.
