4 PAGE 4 The Azoan JULY 2002 From the desk of the editor... As I sat in front of my computer, trying to think of what to type, it wasn t difficult to come up with I something to write about. Being editor was an eye-opening experience. It brought me closer to AZO. The words of fraternalism and brotherly love were no longer just words to me. I actually felt the words renewed in me when I started and I still feel it now. I can remember I had this inexplicable passion when I first joined Iota. It happened again when I joined the New York Alumni after graduation. That feeling came over me again when I became N.Y. Alumni Directorum. As I look back, I noticed this feeling fades as I took a back seat in AZO. I don t blame anyone but myself for losing this enthusiasm. To maintain this verve, one must constantly be the one. The one to be part of, the one to start something new, the one to be well just to be AZO. I just wish that everyone, at one point in time, have this feeling flourish inside so one can appreciate the words too. I would like to thank our Supreme Directorum, Steven Brooks, for giving me the task of Editor. Thanks Steve, for opening my eyes and heart again. Thanks to Frater Paul Holly (and his wife, Jeanne-Marie) for their help for this years AZOAN. I would be remiss if I did not thank the one person, who supported me through trying times, licked and stamped my envelopes, and picked me up in more ways than one can imagine. I would like to thank you, my dearest Rosalie, for being by my side through all these years. It is you that keeps my love for you forever in my heart. And I would like to thank AZO s fraternal families for being part of my life and generously filling my memories of AZO with nothing but remarkable life experiences. Fraternally yours John W. Chin AZOAN 2002 Editor Oath of Maimonides Thy eternal providence has appointed me to watch over the life and health of my fellow human beings. May the love for my art actuate me at all times: may neither avarice mor miserliness, nor thirst for glory, or for a great reputation engage my mind; for the enemies of truth and philanthropy could easily deceive me and make me forgetful of my lofty aim of doing good to my patients. May I never see in the patient anything but a fellow creature in pain. Grant me the strength, time and opportunity always to correct what I have acquired, always to extend its domain; for knowledge is immense and the human spirit can extend infinitely to enrich itself daily with new requirements. Today we can discover our errors of yesterday and tomorrow we may obtain a new light on what we think ourselves sure of today. I have been appointed to watch over the life and death of my fellow human beings. Here I am ready for my vocation and now I turn unto my calling. A credo that proposes who we are, what our goals should be and how we are to conduct our professional and personal lives.

6 PAGE 6 The Azoan JULY 2002 AZO Honors and Presents Donation to the FDNY On June 3rd, Agnes and I traveled to Engine Company 219 of the New York Fire Department who lost seven men in the World Trade Center terrorist attack, one of whom Agnes personally knew. As Supreme Directorum, I chose the Dean Street Heroes Fund as the beneficiaries of our charity. I was honored to present the commanding officer and all of the firemen present with our AZO donation. They will determine how to use this money to help the families of the seven brave men who perished on that tragic day. The Firemen of Company 219 are now the caretakers for seven families where they have each taken the role of father, friend, and hero to each of the wives and children who were left behind. We were applauded for our efforts and thanked for our kindness and generosity following the events of September 11th. The firefighters couldn t help but boast of the overwhelming response from the public. Visibly seen were cards, posters, trinkets and other memorabilia that both individuals and groups have sent. They in turn presented us with a framed Thank You and photo that reads: You have been a beacon of light for all of us throughout these dark days. After the presentation, Agnes and I were invited to join the firefighters for lunch, where we found a very close knit family, much like that of AZO. Agnes and I would like to thank all of the Fraters, chapters, and the Auxiliary for their contributions to this worthy cause. It made us feel proud to be members of AZO. Donations can still be made by sending a check, made payable to the Dean Street Heroes Fund. Fraternally, Agnes & Steve Brooks

7 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 7 The Creed of Alpha Zeta Omega The Faithful Few When the meeting s called to order And you look around the room You re sure to see some faces From out of the shadow loom. They are always at the meeting And they ll stay until it s through The ones that I would mention Are the always faithful few. ALPHA ZETA OMEGA is a Pharmaceutical Fraternity composed of Pharmacists and Undergraduates in Pharmacy, selected on the basis of CHARACTER, FELLOWSHIP, and SCHOLARSHIP. The objectives of the Fraternity are to: promote the profession of Pharmacy; develop high standards of Scholarship; inculcate a spirit of Fellowship among its members; bring together a body of pharmacists, who, by the diligent maintenance of ethical ideals and faithful service, have proven a credit to their chosen profession; honor achievement in others; commend all worthy deeds; and build within our Fraternity a triangle composed of three supporting sides which are... PEACE FRIENDSHIP BROTHERLY LOVE They fill the many offices And are always on the spot No matter what the weather Though it may be awful hot. It may be dark and raining but they are tried and true, The ones that you rely on Are the always faithful few. There are lots of worthy members Who will come when in the mood When everything s convenient They can do a little good. They re a factor in the meeting And are necessary, too. But the ones who never fail us Are the always faithful few. If it were not for these faithful few Whose shoulder at the wheel Keeps the organization moving Without a halt or roll. What would be the fate of meetings When we claim so much to do? They surely would be failures If we lacked the faithful few. Ephraim G. Sless

11 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 11 The fraternal year will be a year that everyone will remember for generations to come. With the attacks of 9/11 on this country by terrorists, we have come together like no other generation since World War II. The country is united on a common goal, to eliminate terrorism and prejudices. Alpha Zeta Omega was created because of the same prejudices and anti-semitism that existed many years ago. With that thought in mind, we have to be prepared to think about what went through the minds of our founding fathers. We have to welcome all that are interested in our organization with open arms, no matter what religion they believe in, what country they come from, what gender they are, or what tone of skin they might have. We are all one people in the face of God, created equally to live on this planet, and if these people who become pharmacists wish to call themselves Fraters, let s welcome them. Let this year be known as the YEAR TO BE THANKFUL FOR. Look around you and see what you are thankful for. Be thankful for good health, for a career in an established profession, whether at the end or just beginning, for family, for good friends, for fraternalism and for life itself. These are just a few, how many more can you add to the list? At this time, I would like to give my utmost thanks to all my officers and committee chairmen for all their support, guidance, and hard work. If not for their efforts, this year would have been like all years past. I would also like to give my thanks and love to Agnes for understanding all the time that I had to devote to fraternal affairs and travel. As you know, they say behind every great man is an even better woman. She is. During the summer and fall of 2001, I tried to think of ways to help the fraternity raise funds other than from solicitations for ads in the AZOAN. I had the idea of a raffle and proposed it to the Supreme Officers, where it was met with much enthusiasm. The idea was brought to fruition at the winter regional where almost all chapters received raffle books. I have been told that it seems like we may be successful, in that we covered the prizes and had enough left over to cover most of the cost of this AZOAN. Not bad for the first time. Hopefully in the future we can raise more, but it takes going out and selling tickets. Just think, if each Frater would sell one book worth $100, we probably wouldn t have to sell more for a couple of years. It has been my pleasure to be able to attend many chapters across the country this past year. I was able to attend 3 Epsilon events, 2 smokers and an initiation, and can safely report that they are very much alive and have everything going in the right direction. In February, I had the privilege to travel to the University of Toledo and visit with Sigma Chapter with Jay Pollack, whose fraternal knowledge would baffle the best of them. Sigma s Bowl-A-Thon was a huge success with all the bowling, pizza and beer you can consume. I enjoyed myself, especially since I was able to bowl 15 games in 2 hours. The next day Sigma showed us Toledo hospitality by Report of Supreme Directorum inviting us to lunch and then taking us out to Canada for dinner and gambling. In March, I had the unfortunate task of doing a Memorial Service for Chapter at the University of Connecticut. Joining me on this trip were Fraters Brian Pinto and Steve Papadou from Epsilon. Last year lost 2 Fraters to drunk drivers. Although it was due to these unfortunate circumstances, I was able to meet many Fraters who have been out of contact with Supreme for so long and hope that they will start becoming more active in the future. Next, Jay and I traveled to Queens, where we met with students from St. John s University and a few Epsilon Undergrads. We are now in the process of reactivating a chapter that has been dormant for about 28 years. Good luck Eta-Upsilon and welcome to AZO and Supreme. At both Kappa and Eta Chapters, I had the distinguished honor of presenting highly prestigious awards, the 75-year pin to Frater Max Ansell in Baltimore, and the Effie Sless Man-of-the-Year Award to Frater Harry Plotnick in Cincinnati. Within my own chapter, I was able to present two lifetime achievement awards to Fraters Samuel Perry and Herbert Wasserman, two 25-year pins to Fraters Soel Molero and Michael Ferri, and most importantly, the Order of the Double Star to Frater Lou Flacks, PSD. Before I end this report, I would like to take a moment to thank someone who has spent countless hours proof reading the AZOAN. From grammatical mistakes, to spelling, to fonts, and just making sense, he took many hours, working right up to the last final proof. I would like to thank my son, Ben. Without his expertise in the English language, this AZOAN might have looked weak in stature. His corrections are seen here as you read this issue. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Ben. I would like to thank you all for a year filled with fraternalism, love, friendships, and triumphs. It was a year I will remember for the rest of my life. I wish all the AZO family, both Fraters and Auxiliary, all the best for a happy and healthy year ahead, and may god bless you all. Fraternally, Steven Brooks Supreme Directorum

12 PAGE 12 The Azoan July 2002 Report of National Auxiliary President As the AZO year comes to an end, I can't help but reflect on the activities that I have been privileged to be a part of as the National Auxiliary President. It was my honor to be installed in sun-soaked Aruba at the terrific convention planned by Gloria and Lou Flacks. Their energy knows no bounds in planning these grand conventions, making it all so perfect for those who attend. September brought us all terrible sorrow and fear of the future as the world was terrorized. It hit close to home, as I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, across the street from a firehouse. After reading through hundreds of names in the newspaper, I realized I had a connection with a fallen firefighter who left behind a wife and 10 children. Steve choose his charity to help benefit the fire fighters of the Dean St. Firehouse who lost many of their men on that tragic day. The response was overwhelming from the undergrads, Fraters, and Auxiliary chapters. A large monetary donation was made in June at the Firehouse where Steve and I were warmly welcomed and saw the brotherhood that the firefighters share. We were given a framed photo and thank you, which we will bring to the convention. I visited several chapters during my term, which included New York, Epsilon, Kappa, Eta, and Philadelphia Alumni. Each of them always warmly welcomed us and made Steve and I feel at home. During these visits I had the pleasure of meeting both current officers and Auxiliary members of each chapter. It was nice to put a face with the names of people whom I have only heard about, and listen to their AZO stories. The biggest honor came when I was able to meet several past National Auxiliary Presidents including Bertha Charkins, 1970, Reva Goldfedder, 1958, and Rose Hellman, both 1951 and The regional in the land of Disney was magical for AZO. Only weeks before the convention the outlook was skeptical; we feared that the entire convention would be canceled. We were afraid to fly, to live, and to laugh. But AZO came through, our family came together and our numbers grew. In Agnes Brooks with Past National Auxilary Presidents: Annette Weinstein, Rose Hillman, Bertha Chaskins and Lois Seidenman fact, we had the largest Regional that AZO has seen in many years. The Flacks team pulled off another spectacular event. Throughout the year I have received sincere notes from several members expressing concern for the fraternity. What AZO is experiencing is common among all organizations. We need to remain committed and stay positive, for it is only with this optimism that we can continue upward and grow ever stronger. Like the bouquet of flowers used at instillation, the National Officers and I have harmonized with each other. There were some sunny days and there were some cloudy days, but with lots of water, deep roots, and some TLC, we bloomed and grew, forming a radiant bouquet of flowers that each compliment the other. A special 'Thank You' to each of my Officers and appointed chairpersons for the input you contributed to help make this a successful year. It is with the highest respect for this office that I bid farewell. May we continue in Peace, Friendship, and Brotherly Love, Agnes N. Brooks National Auxiliary President Supreme Sub-Directorum As Sub-Directorum, one of the biggest honors for me has been to serve as Chairman of The Award s Committee. This year the Committee picked one of my oldest and best friends, Woody Weinstein, PSD, to receive The Meritorious Award. Thank you AZO for this opportunity. I would also like to thank the Fraters of AZO for the opportunity to serve you once more. It is twenty years since I was installed as Supreme Directorum at the Convention hosted by Theta Chapter in Cleveland. Some things never change and some things change forever. AZO is much different today than it was twenty years ago. And at the same time, it is exactly the same. Our Undergraduate Chapters are much larger and much stronger today. Our students are as enthusiastic as ever, but seem to take part in Supreme at a much higher level than in the past. And this is great! Our Alumni and Mixed Chapters are smaller. We are getting older and with age, unfortunately, we are dying off. Some of our strongest Chapters of the past are dwindling. We need you, the same strong and enthusiastic Undergraduate Fraters, to invigorate our Alumni Chapters and Supreme when you graduate. This will be the focus of the opportunity that AZO has given me again. Retention of young Fraters will be the focus of the coming year. I would like to thank the AZO Family for allowing me the honor to try again, to get it right as they say was incredible for AZO and for me. I know that will be better. Fraternally, Mike Seidenman, PSD Sub-Supreme Directorum

13 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 13 Supreme Excheque Report It has been an interesting year as your Supreme Excheque. I have a better understanding of the various aspects in which the fraternity is involved because of the exchange of money. Many behind the scenes activities take place in order for the smooth operation of the fraternity. Some of the things accomplished this year include acquiring a debit card for the checking account, and with the help of Frater Lou Flacks, acquiring a Visa card for the fraternity. These cards are available to cover various Supreme officers expenses, thus reducing the need for an individual to pay for fraternity generated expenses out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. This year we have also initiated a raffle to generate additional revenue. While the sale of raffle tickets have been slower than anticipated, we still have a little time before all monies must be submitted. For the first time, membership (activity) cards were computerized and resulted in a more professional and uniformed looking appearance. Most membership cards were distributed to chapters at the winter regional meeting in Florida. This resulted in postage savings. AZO Direct members received their cards in the mail as names were forwarded to me from the AZO Direct Chair. I recommended at the winter regional meeting that chapter activity fees and taxes be paid by January 1 of each year. This recommendation was made because many chapters did not submit their Supreme fees in time to be included in the Excheque report presented at the winter regional meeting. Thus, the reports did not contain an accurate financial status of the fraternity. By requiring all fees to be paid by January 1, the Excheque report will be current. The recommendation passed and will take effect for the fraternal year (January 1, 2003). All chapters must submit their Supreme fees by January 1, I would to thank Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks, and the Supreme Officers for their vote of confidence in electing me to the position of Excheque. I am looking to continued involvement in AZO in future years. Fraternally, Paul R. Holly Supreme Excheque Supreme Signare Report It is hard to believe that 8 years have gone by since I accepted this position on an interim basis. I have enjoyed the past years but this will be my last year as Supreme Signare. Over the years I have been able to put most of the fraternities affairs on computer disc. This past fall I sent a disc to all chapter officers containing the Constitution, Fraternity Operations Manual, Ritual Handbook, Fraternity Government, various forms, questionnaires, fraternity letterhead, etc. This will save the fraternity money in not having to reprint these forms and publications and mailing them to the chapters. As of May 1, 2002 we have inducted 41 new Fraters. The following chapters have sent me reports and information so far this year: Beta, Epsilon, Kappa, Milwaukee, New York Alumni,, Sigma and Tau. At the convention this Summer in Toronto I will ask the fraternity to re-examine the criteria for awarding Directorum Cups. I am looking forward to seeing all of you in Toronto. I am sure Lou and Gloria are planning another fabulous convention. Good luck to the graduating seniors and I hope you will continue with AZO after graduation. Fraternally, Alan Abrams, PSD Supreme Signare Trade Relations Report The office of trade relations is please to report for the fraternal year ; the committee has raised $22,000. I would like to thank all the members of this committee for their hard work and effort. 14 PAGE 14 The Azoan July 2002 Report of Associate Signare I would like to thank everyone in the Fraternity for their moral and emotional support during these past six months. With 9/11 and and the loss of my mother, Barbara and I were hit with a double whammy and the outreach provided by AZO was very much appreciated. I would like to thank Seth Cohen for stepping up to the plate for me with the AZO newsletter article; he did a great job on such short notice. I would like to report that I have received meeting minutes from Beta,, Epsilon, NY Alumni and Sigma on a timely basis. I didn t respond at the the time so I don t want anyone to think their efforts were wasted. Barbara took some great photos of the Aruba convention and she forwarded them to Morty for everyone s benefit. Continuing on a happier note, Barbara and I are getting married on June 8th, 2002 in Dayton, MD. We are having a small intimate ceremony in a country setting with a beautiful garden and trees all around. We will spend our honeymoon in where else but Aruba. When we see each other next in Toronto we will be Mr. and Mrs. We will have some pictures and anecdotes to tell for sure. Peace, Friendship and Brotherly Love, Jorge Ocasio Supreme Associate Signare Ambassador At Large Report Like our Supreme Directorum, I will do anything that I can to help bridge the gap between your Chapter to Supreme. Just call me now. Fraternally, Mike Seidenman, PSD Ambassador At Large Director of Mailing Report The following have been completed: Renewed the Non-Profit bulk mailing permit; updated the supreme mailing list; mailed the Supreme Government to all chapters and dues paying members; mailed two Supreme newsletters; mailed both regional and convention flyers; and mailed the 2002 Azoan to the fraternity at large. Respectfully submitted, Louis Flacks, PSD Director of Mailing Direct Member AZO Medic Report AZO is prime for a comeback, but it must be done as a group effort. I need help in recovering lost and inactive fraters. I ask anyone, especially the Directorums of each chapter, that you send me the names of any frater who have recently become inactive or haven t been heard from in years. I will attempt to contact these fraters to join AZO Direct. In return, they are entitled to receive Supreme newsletters, the Azoan, and attend Supreme meetings at the conventions. If you have any information, it would be greatly appreciated if you could or mail it to me through the post office. My address is on the website under Latebreaking news. This can be very difficult if it becomes a single effort, but together I bet we can do wonders. Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon. Respectfully Submitted, Lenny Salsa Ortega AZO Direct Chairman Historian Report My role as historian has been a rewarding experience. In the past year I have taken many photographs at the Aruba and Orlando conventions. I have also collected photographs from individual chapter events. All of these photos will be in the Memory Book I am currently creating. Some pictures will also be available on the web in the near future. I would like to sincerely thank Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks for my appointment. I look forward to seeing everyone in Toronto. Fraternally yours, Jill Dolinsky Historian Proposed Regional and National Convention Report The 2002 National convention will be held at the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville from July 10-14, The proposed 2003 Regional convention will be held Jan , 2003 at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Respectfully submitted, Lou Flacks, PSD 2002 Convention Chairman

15 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 15 Director of Electronic Communications It has been a truly great pleasure being able to serve the Fraternity this past year in my capacity as your web master. I fully intended to be able to update the web site while down here in Florida. Due to unforeseen happenings, the computers that were available to me either were down or were of the web-tv variety that did not enable me to install my web site management software. I will be back by April 20, 2002 and will begin updating shortly thereafter. This article was written and sent by to Frater Chin from the public library here in Delray Beach, Florida on March 9, 2002 in order to make a deadline for publication. Hopefully next year I will have a laptop at my disposal and I will be able to follow through with my position as web master in my usual manner. In the meantime, please continue to send me any and all information on the happenings in your chapter, news about yourself and your fellow fraters and continue to use the web site to keep abreast of the latest happenings in the Fraternity. 16 PAGE 16 The Azoan July 2002 Supreme Undergraduate Recipient An annual award presented to an Undergraduate Frater in recognition of his/her achievements in scholarship, leadership, extracurricular affairs and service to the fraternity. FRATER ROBERT J. AMEND RECIPIENT OF THE 2002 UNDERGRADUATE AWARD Robert was born and raised on the west side of Connecticut, where he grew up with three sisters (2 older, 1 younger) and his parents. After 18 nurturing years, he chose to attend Rutgers College of Pharmacy in the autumn of After the Big Bro/Big Sis Annual Picnic early in the semester, Rob was invited to stop by the house on 48 Ray St. He accepted the offer and spent the evening playing games with the brothers. Throughout the rest of semester, he returned to 48 Ray, where he was always greeted by smiling faces and a welcoming cheer. The 1997 spring semester brought a new AZO rush, which produced a pledge class of 11, including Rob. The class was lead into the fraternity by frater Douglas Ortiz, pledge master extraordinaire, who weaved them through the perils of pledging into the enlightenment of brotherhood. During this first year, Rob also became involved with the Academy of Students of Pharmacy (ASP) and the Pharmacy Governing Council (PGC), the latter being led by multiple AZO fraters. He was able to take on the role of Co-Chairman of Public Relations for ASP, and attended PGC meetings regularly. Holding no positions within his pledge class, Rob was quick to accept the position of rush co-chairman from Frater Greg Malat, the pledge master appointed for fall semester 97. Frater Jessica Cheng and Rob lead the rush, filled with party passes and mail stuffing, which produced a pledge class of 12 quality brothers. In the spring of 98, Rob experienced his first semester on pledge committee, helping frater James Kim to lead the pledge class into the fraternity. During this second year, Rob also held positions outside of the fraternity, acting as ASP Vice-President and Treasurer of the Class of Both brought additional responsibilities within the school of pharmacy and increased his interaction with faculty and fellow students. The school year brought many changes within the Epsilon chapter. Fraters elected to positions chose to drop them after a short time, with one such position being Directorum. This left them early in the fall semester with no leader, a role which was quickly filled by frater John Anciano, a frater with 3 semesters of fraternity experience, youth not normally associated with such a position. However, John did a great job, leading the fraternity through a successful semester boasting the first arrest-free pledge class in over a year, bringing some peace to the AZO/faculty conflicts that had plagued them. On pledge committee for his second semester, he assisted frater Kevin Manion in ushering in the new class. The spring semester 99 brought more changes, as John Anciano took on the role of pledge master and left the position of Directorum open for the second time that year. Rob was nominated and elected Directorum during this time of youth and inner conflict in Epsilon, and held the position until May. Needless to say, he was also young for this role, but he was able to lead the chapter through a successful semester with the cooperation of the brothers and the diligent assistance of Epsilon s excheque at the time, frater Leonardo Ortega. The semester rush produced no pledge class, leaving Epsilon to dedicate more time to volunteer work and fund-raising. Rob remembers the most significant accomplishment of the semester was initiated after reflection upon the last few rushes, which had been producing pledge classes of diminishing numbers. Frequent noise violations at 48 Ray had not only limited rush, but had left Epsilon with a great financial burden and seemingly one choice: move. Through cooperation and some convincing, 12 fraters signed the lease agreement to rent the house at 22 Lafayette St. They moved in June 1st and began the difficult task of transforming the dilapidated residence into their fraternity house. This third year provided Rob with the opportunity to lead within the pharmacy school once again. He was elected president of his class as well as vice-president external of PGC. Both roles held much responsibility and introduced him to a new level of leadership. Concurrently holding the position of Directorum made for a very busy, yet gratifying year. In November, his leadership in the pharmacy school was recognized as he was inducted into the pharmacy leadership society, Phi Lambda Sigma. Fall semester 99 found Epsilon in a new house with many new challenges. Working together, overcoming conflicts, they were able to sort out problems such as limited parking and room assignment. The fraternity was lead by Frater Leonardo Ortega and a pledge class of 12 guided by Frater Mehul Patel. Rob had the privilege of being a member of the pledge committee once again. The prolific semester displaying diligent, non-faltering leadership made the spring semester and Rob s appointment as pledge master all the more enjoyable. After much preparation, Rob was ready to lead his pledge class into the Brotherhood. Rob taught his pledge class and his Brothers what he had learned from his years in the fraternity. He spoke from experience about brotherhood. He taught lessons in loyalty and service and humility and respect and love. A few months later, he held the hands of one of his pledges, leading the class into the brotherhood. Rob s spring semester 00 was also highlighted by his induction into Rho Chi Honor Society. The group recognized Rob and other members of his class for performing well in the various courses of the pharmacy curriculum. The following year, Rob s fifth year of school at Rutgers, his interest was renewed in student government after a year of holding only fraternity positions. He was elected president of his class, this time for a two-year term, which he is currently in the process of completing. He also joined the pharmascript yearbook staff, acting as assistant business manager. Late in the year, he was given the Excellence in Pharmacy Award by Mylan in recognition of his leadership and scholarship accomplishments. As Epsilon historian, Rob is now keeping historical perspective of the school year His college days and Alpha Zeta Omega will forever be inseparable, and he hopes the same for his remaining days as well.

17 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 17 Undergraduate Report It s hard to believe the fraternal year is drawing to a close. I have had so many wonderful experiences over the course of the year serving as your undergraduate representative and it is very sad for me to think my time spent in this office is coming to an end. I want to thank everyone so much for the opportunity to hold this position. I truly am honored that I was chosen by my fellow fraters to represent this office. Of course, it was difficult for me to fill Salsa s shoes (I only wear a size 8), however someone had to step forth and assume his role in the fraternity and I am grateful for being chosen for the task. Not only did I meet and talk with so many wonderful undergrads, but I was also given the chance to interact with the outstanding Supreme Council Members. We truly would not exist without their leadership and the chapters would have no guidance in carrying out the ways of the fraternity. We must learn from them so that we too can pass on the traditions of AZO to new fraters in order to preserve and maintain the ideals of peace, friendship, and Brotherly love. I think one of the most important roles of undergraduate representative is to maintain the lines of communication between chapters. It is vital to our survival and to maintaining connections with one other and with Supreme. I want to thank all the dedicated people who helped me achieve this goal. I could not have done my job efficiently without the knowledge and information you passed along to me. This job requires a huge group effort and in order to be successful, participation is needed by all. I m sure many of you grew tired of my annoying s and nagging, but I really do appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your replies. As I leave this position, I propose a challenge to my succeeding officer. This fraternity cannot go on without continually trying to improve and expand our lines of communication. With today s modern conveniences, like , it should be easier than ever for fraters to network and converse on a regular basis. We need to utilize these resources to the best of our ability so all members are aware of the activities of AZO. It is essential that we develop and encourage smaller chapters, so they feel included and in touch with the workings of Supreme. Without this connection they may eventually die out, as many others have done in the past. Encourage members to attend conventions so they meet other brothers from fellow chapters and form the everlasting bonds of friendship so familiar to many of us. It is also important we expand and attract new fraters to ensure the survival of the fraternity. Hopefully, with the creation of the new chapter, Eta Upsilon in New York, we will recruit new and promising fraters who will carry out the legacy of Alpha Zeta Omega. It is my hope that I will always have AZO, but this cannot happen unless we all stay connected and dedicated to its success. Lastly, on a sadder note, I ask that we remember the tragic passing away of our fellow fraters, Nhat Pham and Emily Jordan, this past year. They will be forever part of the AZO family. There is no excuse for drinking and driving, for as we have seen, the consequences can be very devastating. All undergraduate chapters should take this issue very seriously so we can prevent further tragedies from occurring. Again, thank you all for your support and providing me with this unique opportunity. I will continue to offer my services to AZO so that together we can ensure the survival of this exceptional organization. Peace, Friendship, and Brotherly Love Audrey L. Peters Supreme Undergraduate Representative Supreme Deputy Report Under the leadership of Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks, I have had the pleasure to serve as Deputy this year. As part of the function of Deputy, I have visited the following chapters: Beta, Sigma, and Epsilon. With the help of Brian Pinto, we visited St. Johns University to work to rekindle a chapter at St. Johns University School of Pharmacy in New York City. This year I feel that communication between the officers and members has improved due to our web page and the use of s even though we had few newsletters. This ability to have instant communication is much more valuable than to wait for sometimes stale news. There have been inquiries from fraters showing an interest in forming new Alumni Chapters. I hope that we will make an effort to assist these fraters, and retain AZOmedic for those fraters living in areas where no Chapter can be formed. Maybe, next year, we will welcome a new Alumni Chapter in the Lone Star State. Fraternally submitted, Jay L. Pollock, PSD Supreme Deputy

The hot weather was perfect for swimming, sunning, playing beach volleyball, snorkeling, parasailing, tubing, or banana boat riding. The convention began on Wednesday evening with a poolside cocktail reception, including delicious rum runners, followed by a Memorial Service. We then headed indoors for the Meritorious Award Dinner honoring Frater Herman Langer. While some Fraters congregated in the hospitality room, others took advantage of the slot machine contest in the casino, or ventured into the heart of Aruba to experience its local night life and dance clubs. As per tradition, after being inducted, several Fraters threw the new Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks into the pool, however, a few of them ended up falling in as well. 19 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 19 Mid Year Regional Convention Report From January 10-13, 2002, the Mid-Year Regional Convention was held in Orlando, Florida. At the beautiful Coronado Springs Resort is a Mexican themed Disney hotel. Although the nights were chilly, the days were sunny and warm, making each day enjoyable for all those who attended. We kicked off the Regional on Thursday evening with a cocktail party followed by a delicious dinner and the presentation of the Supreme Undergraduate Award to Robert J. Amend of Epsilon Chapter. Later that night, a majority of the undergraduates headed off to Pleasure Island for a fun night of dancing with Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks and PSD Bruce Strell. Friday was free of meetings so everyone was able to take advantage of our location. Most Fraters ventured off to the Disney park of their choice. New York Alumni was even so generous as to give all of the undergraduates a free ticket! After meetings in the morning on Saturday, everyone headed off to lunch, which was followed by an informative Continuing Education presentation by Dr. Jeff Levy. The afternoon was available to shop, enjoy the sights, or sit by the pool. After loading into busses later that evening, we all traveled to Pioneer Hall for the Hoop-De-Doo Musical Review where we were entertained by the comically talented singers and dancers on stage as we ate our chicken and wings in buckets and tin cans. A few AZO special moments occurred here: a Sweet 16 kiss by the male actors was given to Christina Brooks, daughter of the Supreme Directorum, and Marv and Ellie Dorskin danced around the tables for their anniversary. And no one can forget both Adam Levy and Frater Colleen Kristensen from Epsilon being invited on stage for an embarrassing, yet highly entertaining performance. After the show, several undergrads headed back to Pleasure Island for our final night of dancing. On Sunday morning we all said our goodbyes, went our separate ways, and left the enchanting land of Disney World. 27 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE Meritorious Award Recipient The fraternity s oldest individual honor given for long and distinguished service Woodrow M. Weinstein, PSD, Zeta Frater Woodrow Martin Weinstein was born in New York on February 15, 1940 and entered AZO in Zeta in March of He graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in Pharmacy in He earned an honorable discharge from the United States Army on January 21, Later that summer, at a Convention in Cincinnati, he met Annette, and she became his wife a year later. The Weinstein s lived in Yonkers, NY for a few years, then moved to Cincinnati in 1965, where Frater Weinstein passed his Ohio licensure examination in Pharmacy. Though active in Zeta and in New York Alumni, it was in Eta of Cincinnati that Woody s love of AZO flowered into truly outstanding activity. He served four years as Associate Signare; he served as Eta s Directorum for three terms , , and finally He has been an important and significant part of the chapter cochairing the regionals in 1972 and He ran the 1981 convention and was chief fund-raiser for the 1984 Convention. He was the Man of the Year Recipient and was presented the Effie Sless Award in June, Woodrow Weinstein launched his national career as Azoan Editor in 1970, beginning a record of holding ten offices in the fourteen intervening years. He served four years as Associate Signare and was a member of the Supreme Board of Directors for several more. He was elected Supreme 2nd Sub-Directorum in 1982, and became 1st Sub-Directorum in 1983 and finally achieved the highest office of Supreme Directorum in Woody has been a member of NARD, APhA, the Hamilton County (Ohio) Pharmaceutical Association and other professional groups. He was active in the School for the Creative and Performing Arts when his children attended that school many years ago. This is a Cincinnati Public Alternative School, training young people in the creative arts. He now belongs to the Ohav Shalom Synagogue. He and his partner own and operate Sharonville Pharmacy, Elmwood Institutional Pharmacy, Inc., and Elmwood Place Pharmacy, Inc. They have owned their businesses since Woody and Annette have three great children: Harvey, Robin, and Steven. Their blessings are the four grandsons: Jackson, Saul, Ezra and Jesse. Woodrow M. Weinstein has a wealth of experience, along with the wide-scoped vision that only life in different areas can bring, a solid background in all facets of organizational life (both AZO and elsewhere). But most of all, he possesses a deep and abiding affection for our old-time Fraternalism and brotherly love. This Meritorious Award is long overdue for Woody, who loves AZO as much as any Frater in the Fraternity. LJS

30 PAGE 30 The Azoan JULY 2002 New York Alumni Steve Brooks, our National AZO Directorum, is showing us how to properly hold a plate during one of our dinner parties. I started the year by thanking the chapter for electing me and my fellow officers and I announced the appointment of the following fraters: Deputy Lou Flacks Chaplain Herb Wasserman Associate Chaplain Eli Gorelik Historian Gerry Zive Supreme Council Member Jeff Levy This has been a hard year for AZO, New York, and the nation. After the attack on September 11, we were saddened and our lives were changed. Even as we mourned the loss of so many, we had to begin to get on with our lives. Participation in AZO with old and new friends helped us to do that since there is continuity in life and AZO. As we followed in the footsteps of such distinguished fraters as: Bernie Horvitz, Gerry Cornblatt, Jerry Boonshoft, Bob Byck, Bill Goodman, Sam Lederman, Aaron Masia and Ed Keisman, we dedicated this year to continue what they started in NY. We had some interesting events starting with the installation of officers dinner at the Parkside, the Mama Mia theatre party, the Winter Weekend at the Raleigh Hotel, and the joint meeting with Epsilon in Newark. We were fortunate to add two new fraters. Fr. John Palmieri was inducted as a full member and Fr. Andrew Puglisi was inducted as an honorary member. In May, we scheduled separate activities for men and women - the ladies met at Saks Fifth Avenue and the men met at the Roxy Deli. The June meeting was held at the Dolfin Restaurant in New York City. Elections were held and there were some close races this year. On a more somber note, we lost a number of family members: Jorge Ocasio s mother, Marilyn Koven s mother, Sheila Zive s father, and Marty Ingber s mother. Our AZO family had some scares this year - Karyl Keisman had emergency surgery with complications, but we were relieved to learn of her improvement and recuperation. Chapter Reports We all wished her a rafiah. Also, Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks has made an excellent recovery from his recent illness. We also had some joyous occasions Lou and Gloria Flacks and Paul and Linda Kaufman became grandparents again. In May, Ken and Marian Pasetsky became grandparents for the first time. In June, The Order of the Double Star was presented to Lou Flacks at the Westchester - Rockland Pharmacists Society. In addition, Jorge Ocasio and Barbara Caroll got married. We also got a chance to see Sam and Rose Perey at our April meeting. They were visiting from their home in Mexico. It was an honor for me to present Life Membership in the chapter to Fr. Sam and to our chaplain, Fr. Herb Wasserman. Still to come this year - the National Convention in Toronto. Lou and Gloria Flacks have planned another great one! As the fraternal year comes to a close, I d like to thank all the fraters and auxiliary who participated in chapter activities. Our fraters looked forward to this year s programs with great anticipation. October s meeting featured a No Surprise Mystery Night with dinner and theater at the First and Last Tavern for pizza followed by a trip to the Bushnell Theater for a performance of Guys & Dolls starring Maurice Hines. December found us at the Bella Notte Restaurant for a fine meal topped off by a discussion of financial matters by frater Stan Labinger. The annual weekend at the Raleigh in February afforded some of our fraters this opportunity for a mid-winter break. Willie s Steak House in Manchester was the venue for our April meeting and a grand time was had by all. Due to popular demand, we had another evening of dinner theater in June featuring a performance of Elton John s Aida. Our final banquet of the year was again held at the Indian Hill Country Club with capped off a most enjoyable fraternal year. Our opening function was a joint installation dinner with the Eta auxiliary, which was held at one of the local famous rib restaurants. Both Eta Directorum Joe Stein, and Auxiliary President of Eta, Eudy Landman have both done super jobs this year. The monthly fraternity meetings have been held at PJ Restaurant with good turnouts. We have held 4 all city seminars with pretty good attendance (between ) pharmacist and some from a few further counties. Our closing function held at a wonderful french restaurant had (55) fraternity and auxiliary members, along with Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks, and his lovely wife Agnes, National Auxiliary President in attendance. Representing the University of Cincinnati, School of Pharmacy was Associate Dean Robert E. Lee, and his wife Jane. A great time was had by all as we honored Frater Harry Plotnick as our Man of the Year. Harry now practices law, but is always ready and able to give a seminar on Pharmacy laws. Making sure we keep ourselves up to date. This year our chapter will once again cheer our PSD Frater Mike Seidenman, as he once gain takes the reigns of Supreme Directorum for the second time, and Lois Seidenman as she tackles the National Auxiliary a National Auxiliary President for her 3rd time. The jobs can t be in better hands. We also look forward as supreme honors, Frater Woody Weinstein as this years Meritorious Award recipient. We re happy that some (5) couples from Eta can be in attendance. Hope to see many of you in Toronto. Fraternally, Woody Weinstein Eta Chapter Directorum Philadelphia Alumni Our chapter is unfortunately growing smaller each year, We have meetings about 6 times a year at a restaurant and/or a fraters home. Our friendship and brotherhood have never been higher. Our hope is that our new Beta Fraters will join the Alumni and help us grow, again. There is the possibility of re-starting a chapter at Temple University School of Pharmacy (Gamma Chapter) now that to get a degree in pharmacy requires 6 years in school. We will be working on this with the incoming class in September. We are proud that Herman Langer received the Meritorious Award in Aruba. Shel Berson and I were also recipients. We are also well represented at the national conventions. This year 4 members of our chapter and their wives will be attending the convention in Toronto in July which is an excellent representation considering the size of our chapter. On a personal note, from May 30th to June 4th, my whole family will meet in Toronto at my grand-daughter s home to celebrate my 95th birthday. My daughter from San Francisco, my daughter and husband from Milwaukee and my grandson and his family from Massachusetts will all be there. And in July, I will be in Toronto again for the AZO Convention. Looking forward to seeing all the fraters. Peace, Friendship & Brotherly Love, Louis Kaplan Directorum Beta I would like to first thank my fellow fraters in AZO for one of Beta's most productive years. Firstly, we kicked off the year with two rush parties. The first, our annual blue whale rush, included a new edition of the Blue Whale T-shirts. Our second rush was cleverly named, called the Playboy Mansion Rush in which one our brothers, Rich Packard, dressed as Hugh Hefner and our female brothers played the role of the playboy bunnies. In addition to the numerous other get together, our year was filled with many other social gatherings and good times which were enjoyed by all. Second, USP initiated a new program at the school entitled The Greek Five Star program, which pitted the Greek groups against each other in a friendly competitive spirit. Of course, Beta stood up to the challenge by participating in many community and school functions such as, the Greek move in, block clean ups, tree planting, and many other educational experiences. Our total membership is now 22, with the addition of our 5 new brothers, all of whom pledged in the spring of On April , AZO Beta celebrated it s year with it s annual spring formal, which took place at the Cottage Green caterers in Northeast Philadelphia. The affair was a delightful occasion, and many thanks go out to First Sub Directorum Margee Parikh for organizing such a wonderful night. However, with every year comes the good-byes of 3 brothers to graduation, Ken Micko, Matt Lenhard, and Becky Rucci, all of whom have put in their fair share of fraternal service. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my officers for their assistance and unyielding support during this year, namely Chris Wisniewksi, Lenny Fox, Rachele Damato, Dave Herr, and Noreen Mahoney for their time and fraternal dedication. In closing, I would like to say that AZO has given me some of the best times of my life, and I hope to see this remarkable experience continue well into the future... 33 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 33 Kappa Kappa Executive Board, Left to right: Dennis Klein, Stanley Karimol, Barry Meyer, Harry Bass, Robert Gersten, Henry Leikach (Directorum), Freddie Banks, Walter Abel, Barry Bloom and Paul Holly Kappa Chapter of AZO continued the successful monthly breakfast continuing education seminars. Frater Barry Bloom is dedicated to providing outstanding speakers for these meetings and we appreciate his hard work. The breakfast meetings continue to be successful as attendance averages over 80 fraters and guests each month. Kappa was pleased to have Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks and Auxiliary President Agnes Brooks attend the February meeting. Frater Brooks presented Frater Max Ansell of Kappa Chapter, a pin for his 75 years of membership in AZO. It is believed that this is the first 75 year pin ever given. Earlier in the year, Kappa Chapter presented a plaque to Frater Ansell commemorating this milestone accomplishment. Frater Dennis Klein has again provided the leadership to make our annual Fritz Berman Seminar one of the most successful events year after year. This years topic included research on cholesterol, presented by Frater Dave Rothman, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, selecting low cholesterol foods at the grocery store, presented by Constance Pergerson, L.D., R.D., University of Maryland Extension Service, and making low cholesterol choices when dining out, presented by Executive Chef and Restaurant Owner, Henry Pertman. The annual installation banquet was held on June 2, Over 80 fraters, guests, undergraduates and honorees, gathered at Courtney s Restaurant in Cockeysville for this event. The featured speaker, thanks to Frater Norman Levin, was Dr. Peter Beilenson, Commissioner of Health for Baltimore City. Dr. Beilenson is a recognized in public health issues affecting major U.S. cities and adjacent suburbs. This is the third year in selecting the American Cancer Society s Relay for Life as our annual charitable organization. The third annual David Banks Memorial Award was presented to Adams Solola, a University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Class of 2003 student. The David Banks Memorial Award, initiated by the David Banks Family in honor of Past Directorum David Banks, awards up to $ a year to an AZO student member who has achieved academic excellence as determined by the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and the Kappa Chapter. Kappa Chapter matches on a yearly basis, the family s contribution to this award. This $ stipend is to be used to assist the student with necessary educational expenses while in pharmacy school. Kappa Chapter is very busy making preliminary plans to host the AZO 2003 Summer Convention in Baltimore. Frater Dennis Klein has been appointed chairman of this event. The Executive Board of Kappa Chapter and other fraters will assist Frater Klein in planning for this convention in July, On a sad note, Kappa Chapter has lost Frater Elwin Alpern. Frater Alpern was a long time member of AZO Kappa Chapter and a true friend of Pharmacy. He also had served as President of the Maryland Pharmacists Association. It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve as Kappa Chapter Directorum this past year. I wish to thank the Executive Board and members for their support. Peace, Friendship and Brotherly Love, Walter Abel Directorum, Kappa Chapter Mrs. Shelly Banks presents the third annual David Banks Memorial Fund check to Adams Solola, Class of 2003, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, with Walter Abel, Directorum. Kappa Undergraduate Chapter The Undergraduate Kappa chapter at the University of Maryland started the year off with its rush events, which included a BBQ and an ice cream social. The BBQ and ice cream social were sponsored by Giant pharmacy and Safeway Pharmacy Inc. Several forums were also held, one presented by Mr. Murhl Flowers, Director of Pharmacy, Safeway Inc. He talked about the future of community pharmacy. The other forum focused on the school s dual PharmD/MBA program. Fraters also participated in community service projects with the neighboring Hope Lodge where meals were prepared for cancer patients and their families. More fraters have been able to represent the Undergraduate Kappa chapter this year with frater Sarah Nguyen attending the annual Winter Convention in Orlando and fraters Adams Solola and Jonathan Walton-Roberts attending the National Convention in Toronto this summer. T-shirts were also designed this year to help spread the name of AZO. Due to conflicts, induction of new members has not taken place yet, but is planned to on September 15. Many plans have been put into next year s agenda to add more social events to help bond Undergraduate Kappa and bring in more members. Fraternally, Sarah Nguye Secretary

34 PAGE 34 The Azoan JULY 2002 Sigma Sigma had a very active and successful fraternal year. With the addition of 34 new members to our chapter, we continue to grow and expand our AZO family. We participated in many activities over the year including various pledge events, volunteering in the community, fundraising, intramural, and holding a variety of social functions. Pledging proved to be the highlight of the first semester. There were many fun-filled fraternal activities held in which pledges and actives interacted in order to get to know one another. The year kicked off with the annual Green Carpet Party where we initiated the new pledges. Other events included UT s Homecoming, the pumpkin carving contest, Kappa Psi Halloween party, Scavenger hunt, and Big/Little party. The activation ceremony on December 7th was the reward for all the hard work the new members had put into learning the ways of AZO. Sigma was very involved in volunteering and helping out in the community. Our volunteer chair, Kara Jones, did an exceptional job finding and organizing these activities for us. Twice a month, several fraters served meals to local people in the community by delivering food for Meals on Wheels. In November, we cooked two dinners for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. At Christmas, we held a raffle to raise money to support the local Toys-4-Tots and bought over $ worth of gifts to donate. In February, the Fraternity made Valentine cards and sweets and visited a local nursing home to pass them out. We also held a canned food drive that month and delivered over 400 items to the Cherry Street Mission. Selling daffodils in March to benefit the American Cancer Society was another charitable program we volunteered to work. Many members were involved with the Kiss a Pig Walk in May where we raised money and walked to show support for patients with diabetes. These are just some examples to demonstrate how involved Sigma was with the surrounding community this school year. Those fraters with a competitive edge and a thirst for competition ventured into the world of AZO intramural sports. Our basketball team was phenomenal and went undefeated the whole season, only to lose in a devastating defeat in the tournament semi-finals. It was still a fantastic effort by the team for we have never gotten that far before! Volleyball goes without saying. It was definitely challenging for our team, but we had a lot of fun! Oh well, there s always next year. One of our big social functions for this last semester was Bowl-a-thon. It was a huge success and a great time had by all. Sigma was even lucky enough to have Steve and Jay attend for the weekend. We got to see the Medicine man in action and he definitely put all our bowling to shame! The next night we smuggled them out of the country for an evening of gambling and bar hopping in Windsor, Canada. Our end of the year Deadman s party was the other major function we hosted. The theme was Hit me with your best shot and everyone showed up sporting their best 80 s gear. We recognized the graduating fraters and initiated the new officers. Kara Jones was awarded the Blue Whale award for her service and dedication to AZO. One could say Sigma had a very busy and prosperous year, but all these activities would not be possible without the combined effort of all fraters. I want to thank everyone in my chapter for all the hard work they did this year. The officers couldn t have done it without all of you. Congratulations to the new officers and good luck next year. I know it will be great because AZO just keeps getting bigger and better! Peace, Friendship & Brotherly Love, Audrey L. Peters Sigma Directorum What a nice reflection on AZO: Jay Pollock and the Sigma girls! Miami Alumni Miami Alumni Chapter has been relatively quiet compared to previous years. However we did have combined meetings at various restaurants, a country club, a lunch/theater outing, and ending this fraternal year with a cruise/lunch. 35 JULY 2002 The Azoan PAGE 35 Epsilon AZO. We also congratulate Brian Pinto on winning the Si Sless Award and Robert Amend for winning the Supreme Undergrad Award. We look forward to seeing everyone in Toronto and then in January in Vegas. Thank you, Brian Pinto Undergraduate Directorum The Epsilon Chapter at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University has enjoyed one of its most prosperous years in recent history. We have become much more involved with Supreme as seen by our 26 undergrads in Orlando and possible 25 at the upcoming convention in Toronto. We had a very successful rush and pledge period under the direction of Frater Bill McCormick. As a result of his efforts we inducted 21 new fraters first semester. Second semester under the direction of Frater Stephen Imperato we were proud to welcome 6 new fraters increasing our undergrad chapter to 70 people. Epsilon has found its way to stay involved within the community. After 9/11, we donated blood and $1000 to the efforts by the Red Cross. We had several fraters participate in the March of Dimes Walk America in April and also donated money to a school wide campaign for kids with cancer for Rutgers annual Dance Marathon. We held a blood drive in February and sponsored an info session by Novartis Oncology for students of the pharmacy school. But for as much time as we spend benefiting the profession of pharmacy we also know that to get through pharmacy school, you need to have some fun. And no one does it any better!!! We had our annual parents day in September, a very good showing of both undergrads and alumni at Homecoming, a fundraiser at Raceway Park, our graduate roast, our formal this past June, and of course numerous parties, namely our Hansel and Grundle party, Mario s Magic Mushroom Party and our famous Blue Whale. We also like to meet other fraters of AZO. We have exchanged trips with Beta and Tau on a couple of occasions, made a trip to for their memorial service, joined the NY Alumni for a luncheon at a Portuguese restaurant in Newark, and are in the process of restablishing the Eta Upsilon chapter at St. John s University in New York. We are very proud of the strides we have made this year and can only see more success coming out of Epsilon in the upcoming years. We have numerous leadership positions within the pharmacy school and look forward to continuing that success. We congratulate our graduating fraters: Robert Amend, Laura Babcock, Chris Gabel, Mehul Patel, Brian Pinto and Steven Serico. We wish them luck in their future careers and thank them for the time they ve put into Epsilon South Detroit Alumni Detroit AZO is active under the leadership of our Directorum Dave Rogoff. We meet almost weekly for breakfast at a local restaurant to have informed meetings and to discuss future activities. We are still involved with Pharmacy School Scholarship given to a deserving student. Also we are informed when there is a CD program and several of us attend especially if there is a free meal involved. At least every other month we combine with the Auxiliary to have a social gathering. These are well attended. A number of us will be at the Regional in Toronto. See you there. Fraternally, Sol Zogut Detroit Alumni (2nd Sub-Directorum)
