How do you adjust the camera angle on the tripod? o Knob handle Tripod: loosen the knobs, move the tripod head, tighten o Screw Handle Tripod: Turn the handles, move the tripod head, tighten 10. How does the bubble level help you adjust the tripod? It tells you when the camera is level. The bubble needs to be in the center. 11. What do you need to do to straighten the camera area at the end of class? With the camera: turn it off, close it up. With the tripod: Push it back against the wall under the hook that holds the wire With the wires Put all wires on correct hook 12. What are the two reasons you should never turn the LCD screen around? You cannot see your shot and the LCD panel might break 13. Where does the charger plug into on the camera Plug the charger into the back of the camera by the battery.

It is the larger one. power strip for all the audio equipment? On the table, behind the audio mixer. It has everything plugged into it How do you adjust the sound level of the mics, vcr, cd or mp3 player? By raising or lowering the volume sliders 4. What level should each be at? At the U level 5. Which volume sliders have to be up so you can hear anything connected? The two Main Mix volume sliders on the far right of the audio mixer 6.. How do you go to a different CD on the CD player? select the number the CD is in (left side) 7. How do you change the track of the cd on the cd player? Use the arrow keys on the right side of the audio mixer to move to different tracks 8. How do you turn the wired mics on In the studio? On/off switch In the control room? unmute, raise volume sliders 9. Where do the wired mics connect o in the studio? Into a wired mic jack o In the control room? Into the audio mixing board 10. You can tell which number each mic is by the number on the mic jack

4 11. What 2 changes do you have to make on the mixing board to use the wired mics? Push the volume sliders above the U, turn the trim knobs past the 12:00 position. 12. Where is the mute button? Above each volume slider 13. What should talent say when you do a mic check? Countdown from 10 in a normal voice. The mic should NOT be close to their mouth. What are you listening for? same volume level from each mic 14. Why don t we wrap the wires around the mics when putting them away? Too much tension will break the wire where it enters the microphone 15. Where does the sound for the audio come out of in the control room? The preview monitor What should the volume be set at on? 30, so what we record isn t too loud or too soft 16. If you can t hear sound in the control room, but nothing is broken, list the reasons why for each The microphones i. not on ii. plugged into a different mic jack Mixing board i. muted ii. main mix is not up Preview monitor not on Vcr recording vcr not on, or not on channel L When closing down all the audio equipment, what do you have to do with the Mics put back in drawer, mic stand away, mic jack wires on audio hook CDs out of cd player and away Mixing Board off, power strip off

How do change the way the text comes in or goes out? Effects in and out buttons

6 8. What are the 4 kinds of background can you put text over? Solid color, patterns, rainbows, video 9. If you want the text to play at the top of the screen, how do you move it? At the bottom? Use Mark start (and mark end), position key, then the arrow keys 10. If the text goes off the screen when you are typing, what should you do? There is too much on next line. You have to put some on the next line or make the font smaller 11. How do you move text from one page to the next without retyping it? Use mark start (and mark end) around the text you want to move, go to the page you want to move it to, and use the move button upper right on keyboard 12. How do you apply formatting (make everything look the same) to a group of pages in a project? Put mark start and mark end around everything you want to change, and change it 13. How do you add symbols? Blue accent key, they the blue symbol you want 14. List two ways to play the project. a. Play button b. Arrow keys 15. How do you release the character generator ( let go ) from the recording screen? Use the OK key enter button. That means your Character Generator page isn t playing, and isn t seen on the preview monitor. 16. How do you move from the first page of your project to the last? The last page to the first? CMD + up or down arrows 17. What three things do you turn off when you are done using the CG? 1. Turn off CG from behind (toggle switch), CG monitor the power strip behind the monitor.

You can choose to play the whole screen in a color, and you see background in some transitions 10. Which monitor should you be watching? The video switcher monitor why? It shows you all available shots and what is coming up. It s like driving and looking through the windshield. The preview monitor is like the rearview mirror. It only shows you where you have been. 11. Identify the 6 monitors the video switcher is concerned with & what each does. Video switcher monitor shows what you are doing, preview monitor for control room and the studio both show what you have chosen, Monitors showing cameras A, B and C; 12. Describe one of each kind of transition: Trailing transition: in the 400 s, swirling Edges: 300 s sharp or soft edges between shots Shapes: from 500 to the end, a variety of shapes, some using border color. Can also be used for PIP Basic: from 1 299, they don t fit into any category: checkboard, lines, pushes, etc 1. List 9 things you have to turn off to close down the video switcher area: 1. video switcher 4.Monitor Camera B 7. Preview monitor control room 2. video switcher monitor 5.Monitor Camera C 8. Preview monitor studio 3. monitor camera A 6. Top power strip 9. Bottom power strip

9 Vocabulary: tape log, cue, junk tape When you are finished learning the VCR, you should be able to do/tell about/answer the following: 1. By color, what does each VCR do in the control room? Silver one plays back Black one records 2. Which channel does the recording/broadcast vcr need to be on? L-1 3. Draw the buttons for play stop fast forward record rewind 4. Which remote do you use for each VCR? Silver remote for playback, black remote for recording 5. What two things do you see on the vcr display when the vcr is actually recording? Red dot Time moves in a positive direction 6. What do you say when you know you are recording? recording! 7. Why and how do you clear the counter each time before you record something? So the counter resets to zero and you know how long you taped so you can fill out the tape log- use the clear button 8. What does Cueing up a tape mean??? Rewinding or fast forwarding the tape, using the tape log to get to the point in the tape you want to be at 9. What two things do you use to cue the tape? The tape log and your eyes 10. What is a tape log? A tape log is like a table of contents for the tape 11. What three pieces of information do you need?

10 You need the date, what you recorded and how long you recorded for each time 12. Which vcr tapes does your class use? You can always use the junk tape for practice and then the tape that is marked with your period 13. How should you put the tape back into the tape case? With the label facing out, door of the tape facing in Why?? So you don t pull on the door of the tape and break it when you take it out of the case 14. What is a junk tape? A practice tape you don t need to use a tape log for 15. What three things do you have to put away and turn off when you shut down the VCR area? Take tapes out and put them away with the tape log if you were using it, turn off the VCR monitor and turn off both VCRS using the remotes only
