6 H ere s a new space station to go into orbit around the Earth! You can build it using pieces from your LEGO collection. Don t worry if the colors don t match use whatever colors you like! When you are done building, you can take it apart and build something else, or build space vehicles to visit your space station. It s up to you! BUILDER TIP When building something that is real, like a space station, a baseball stadium, or even a bird like on the next page, it s a good idea to look at any pictures you can find of the thing you want to create. This makes it easier for you to make a model, because you will have a picture of what it really looks like!

7 BUILDER TIP Even though this model is small, designer Mark Roe wanted to make it look like it was a really big space station. So he built a tiny space shuttle to go along with it. You know a space shuttle is very big in real life, so by making it so small here, Mark makes the space station look much bigger.

8 T his feathered friend looks all ready to fly! This is just one of many kinds of birds you can build with pieces from your LEGO collection. Remember, you don t have to use the same colors that are in this model you can use whatever colors you like! After you have built this bird, you can take the model apart and see what other things you can build. What will you make? Designer Mark Roe used lots of different colors in this model. Using pieces in many different colors makes your model more fun to look at. Some pieces work great for certain parts of a model, just because of how they look. See the piece used to make the bird s feet? What else do you think you could use that piece for in a model?
