2 Starting up If the computer isn t on and ready to record, you will need to follow these steps: Turn the computer on under the desk It should automatically login and Myriad should also start up without you having to click on anything. How the desk works Input Selector PGM the route of the channel. Light on means it s live. REC Must be red to record through that channel Trim this adjusts the level of input. If the levels are too low or high then you ll need to adjust this Pan this determines whether it comes from the left or right speakers. You shouldn t really need to touch this. PFL Pre-fader level. This is to hear what the channel will sound like without putting the fader up to go live

3 Monitor Select This determines what you are listening back to. If you select PGM then you will hear back what is going live or through the channels that have the PGM light on. If you choose REC then you will be able to hear back what you are recording.

4 Media Wall This is what the media wall looks like. Music Song Name Artist Hook Length of song and extro type Intro before lyrics start Hook a recognisable section of the song. Can be used to promote what is coming up in the show. Extro types - E = Sudden end no time to talk over - F = Fade song fades out over a short period of time - SF = Slow Fade song slowly fades out - S = Sustain lyrics are repeated over until the end of the song

5 Finding Carts When building your show, you will need to navigate between different media that is on the system. You will see the tabs (below) at the top of the screen. You can switch between each one simply by clicking on them. You can flick between pages by using theses arrows. allow you to see all of the audio for each section. This will Playing back a cart To play a cart you can double click on it or drag it into one of the playout cues at the bottom of the screen. To stop a cart, you can either click the pause button for a temporary stop, or the eject button to clear it from the playout.

6 Recording Audio There are a number of different things to consider before you start to record audio. Recording directly to a cart You can record audio directly into a cart very easily. First thing to do is to check the settings are correct. Is the record button enabled? (is it red) Is the PGM button off? Have you selected an empty cart to record in to? Are your levels ok? Switch to the correct monitor Is the record button enabled You need to check that the channel you are using to record is enabled for this. Mic 1 (generally what will be used) should have the red light on and the green light off. This means it won t interrupt any current broadcasts. Have you selected an empty cart to record in to? Ensure that you have chosen a cart on the correct page so you re not adding speech to the music catalogue. If it is empty, there should be no text in it. Are your levels ok? Test speaking into the mics first. To do this push the first two faders up on the desk. If the levels on the desk are not touching the orange lights when you are talking into the mics, then you will need to turn the trim dial. If they are in the red, adjust them to be in the green / orange.

7 If all of these are right, then you re good to go! To record into a cart, simply right click on the empty cart and choose record into this cart. Once you have finished recording your speech, click the flashing record button in the bottom right of the screen. You will be asked if you want to save your recording into the cart. Exporting Audio To export the recording that you have made from a cart, right click cart > export > and select the top option. Make sure you have a USB plugged into the computer to save it to. If you try playing your audio back it won t work unless you take it out of the studio and put it onto another computer so don t worry if you can t hear it once you have exported it.

8 Building a Show You can build your show by using the Pad (below) Click here to export your show into a cart. This will not include any live speech added during the playout Drag show elements here To remove an element, double click it This lets you drag and drop the elements of your show into an order to playout. Here you can add jingles, music and recorded audio. If you want to record a whole show using the Pad and you want to add places to speak, you must add in a series of pauses You can export this as a cart or audio file ready to add to the scheduled playout system.
