4 How to use this guitar chord book Thank you for purchasing this left handed chord book! We show you 96 chords with suggested finger settings in an alphabetical order. Below you can see an explanation on how to read the chord diagrams including a picture on how the fingers of the left hand are numbered. Probably you'll know this already but we thought, we better tell something old, than let you use this book with no instructions at all! Every finger of your hand has got it s own number. The index finger is, the middle finger is, the ring finger is and the little finger is. Keep this in mind! Because of the miracle, called the guitar, there are of course lots of ways to play a single chord (every note has multiple locations on the neck of the guitar). We ve chosen for every chord the less or more easiest way to play the chord on the first or 5 frets. It might be that an inversion of the illustrated chord works better in your specific case. In that case you can inverse the chord yourself Cm using the overview pages in the back of this book. Here you find the notes that every chord exists of. Use the neck diagram to find the notes on the neck and create your own best suitable chord! Playing guitar is personal and you need to develop a way that feels comfortable for you. So check if the suggested fingerings feel good for you and if the stated chord works in your case. We wish you lots of fun playing the guitar and exploring new amazing chords! The direct above the chord diagram tells you, you don t have to strike the string and the tells you to strike a string, but not to fret it with your finger; an open string. 41 Chord overview & Neck diagram We already gave you 96 Chord diagrams, but there is more to come. On the next pages we give you a bonus overview of about 5 chord names (about additional chords) with the notes they exist of. chord structure. Now we look up the notes in the neck diagram and find those positions we can easily play as a chord. Experiment with this concept as there are many possibilities. Below we came up with our Gadd9 chord! Gadd9 Use the neck diagram to find the best loca- tions of all notes your picked chord exists of. And form your own chord diagrams. You can eventually print the empty chord diagrams on the last page and write them down. To keep things understandable and structured we used some uncommon notations of notes in the pages to come. They are listed in the table below. The first five can be used both, the ten below are in the neck diagram always written as the last part of the equation.
