2 Billboard Cartoon Fashion Food Network Masquerade s Advertise your book to the world of SJV. Create a full-size billboard that communicates an idea from your book that is so compelling that others will read your chosen book this summer. Use your Mystery Kit to create your billboard. Scrooge McDuck played Ebenezer Scrooge in a remake of A Christmas Carol. Smurfette played Shakespeare s Juliet. Which cartoon characters could retell the story you read? Use your Mystery Kit to make the characters and paraphernalia you will need to present your challenge. Have you ever wanted to strut down a runway wearing fabulous fashions? Use your Mystery Kit to create fashions that your main characters would wear at Fashion Week in Paris, New York, or Tokyo. You will look absolutely smashing! Why? Because everybody loves food. Think about what your characters would eat. Would it be a formal event, a picnic, a food truck feast? Use your Mystery Kit to prepare the food and make utensils and serving ware you will need to present your challenge. Who is that behind the mask? You! Choose the most compelling characters from your book and use your Mystery Kit to make masks for everyone in your group to wear.

3 Movie Set Lights, cameras, action! Perhaps you and your group members don t really feel like being in the action. Use your Mystery Kit to build a movie set where more dramatic folks could enjoy the lime light. Movie Trailer Musical Puppet Show Imagine a world where... Create a movie trailer to promote a movie about your book. Use your Mystery Kit to create everything you need. Bonus Someone in your group is going to have to do the super dramatic voice track. Row, row, row, your boat gently down the stream. Or maybe, Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb. Pick a song and rewrite the lyrics to communicate an idea about your book. Use your Mystery Kit to make musical instruments, microphones, or costumes to use while presenting your challenge. Puppet theater is one of the oldest forms of dramatic presentation. Use your Mystery Kit to create puppets representing the key characters from your book. Bonus challenge Build a puppet stage as well.

4 Sports Think about the characters from your book. What sport might they play? Football, baseball, track, synchronized swimming? As your challenge, pick a sport and use your Mystery Kit to make the uniforms and athletic equipment they would need. Superhero If your main character were a superhero, who would s/he be? Invent a superhero that embodies the qualities of your main character and use your Mystery Kit to build his/her superhero costume and super gear. Supervillain The battle between good and evil wages on. Does your book have a bad guy bad enough to be a supervillain? Use your Mystery Kit to build his/her supervillain costume and supervillain gear. TV News Present a TV news report concerning an event from your book. Use your Mystery Kit to make the set, costumes, cameras and related equipment you will need to present your challenge. Videogame Videogames as art? Pac Man and Lara Croft would say, Yes! Rethink your book. How would it translate to a videogame format? Use your Mystery Kit to recreate your book in a videogame world.

5 Why Not Invent Your Own? None of these challenges work for you? Imagine that. Invent your own creative way to share your book in a way that is positive and appropriate to the school setting. Of course, use your Mystery Kit. We read (Title of book) We chose (Identify your challenge) Because (Reason you chose this challenge) We will (Identify your negotiators and what the jobs assigned to all others) Team Sheet Team Member Job
