1 THE PERFECT CUSTOMER

2 The Perfect Customer A perfect customer, or avatar, is a made up character that represents your ideal customer. This might be an exercise you re going to want to ignore, avoid or skip. DON T! This is the most important exercise you can do for your business to identify exactly who you are serving. If this exercise is done correctly, it can help you generate hundreds and thousands of dollars for your business (and AWESOME customers). This guide will help you get specific with your marketing, so the more detailed you can get, the better. Let s dive in! Think about your perfect customer. What are they struggling with? How old are they? How do they spend their free time? Where do they live? Start thinking about all of their demographic and psychological traits. Get into their interests, goals, and problems that your product can address. Start with a name

3 Brain Dump. Get as specific as you can identifying the following for your Perfect Customer. Gender Age Marital Status Children? Family Goals Location Income Occupation How many years? Where does he/she spend most time on social media? (Twitter, Fb, Linkedin, Pinterest, Instagram?)

4 Facebook pages he/she follows How does he/she get the news? Favorite Magazines Favorite Apps Favorite Blogs lists he/she subscribes to: Favorite Author Favorite Youtube Channel Favorite Artist/Music Favorite Work Out Favorite TV Network/Series

5 Favorite Concert/Festival/Conference/Retreats/Workshops Role Model Transportation Living arrangement Biggest stressor Biggest fear Belief System Religious Views Political Views How they spend their free time

6 How much they travel Where they travel to Dream Vacation Favorite Restaurant Favorite weekend activity Personal Goals

7 All of this makes up your Perfect Customer. Get so descriptive that you can imagine this person in real life, having a conversation with you. Get to know this person inside and out so you can fully understand his/her wants and needs. Now, step into the mindset of your customer and finish this exercise. You re going to write out a story as if you were them. Start to learn how to think the way they think. Get somewhere quiet and remove distractions in the room (turn off tv, music, etc). Take a journey inside the mindset of your Perfect Customer (This may sound crazy - it s not. Go with it. You need to learn how your ideal customer is thinking to better serve them). Free write the answers to these questions in the form of journaling You re no longer you. You re your perfect customer. Think about these questions and how your Perfect Customer would answer them. Let s Dive In!

8 What s the biggest stressor in your life right now? What do you worry about most? What s your biggest fear? What s the biggest problem you have in your life? What s the worst thing that could happen to you if this problem persists? How would you feel if this happened to you? How would your boss react? your friends? family?

9 What could happen to you if you failed? to your career? to your family? to your finances? What would happen if your problem is solved? What do you want more than anything else? What solution would you pay almost anything for? How did you come to discover this solution? (referral, facebook?) How did you feel when you were researching it? What questions did you have have before you bought?

10 What objections and hesitations did you have before purchasing? What outcomes did you have after purchasing this product? Great work! You may find your perfect customer varies from product to product, or is the same throughout everything your business does, but it important to know your target market on this sort of level to sell effectively and attract customers. You now have material that will help you connect authentically with your customers to help attract the RIGHT people for your product. Keep this information in mind when you re writing or speaking about any type of promotional material for your product.
