THE STORY OF TRACY BEAKER SERIES 2 EPISODE 6 DOGGIE Based on the book by JACQUELINE WILSON Shhh! What? Listen! He s been pestering me for weeks... Ah Darn flea bag. He got right upstairs yesterday... Go on! Getoutofit! Don t. He s lovely. Go on. Why do they always gravitate around me? I hate dogs. Fang. Lovely Fang. Careful! He might bite...go on, get out of it. And good riddance! I ll see to her... He looks just like Rocket. 1

Who s Rocket? My dog. I had him since he was a puppy. He ran away the night my foster parents went to Australia. Well, he probably knew they were going and didn t want to end up in some scuzzy dog home.....so he set off into the big wide world to have his own adventures.. But when you re bigger, you can get another dog. I m big now. That s what the teacher said at my new school.. So I can get a dog... Well, I don t know. Who d look after it? We will. I m not sure... Please. Well, it s not that I don t want to...it s just we ll have to ask for stupid permission.. You don t need permission. You re Tracy Beaker! Said I could get them for you didn t I? 2

BOUNCER: He got them from a skip. An old lady died. They were clearing out her house... Urgh. Some of her hair might be on it. Gross. What do you think bro? Louise? Babe-a-lishous or what? But it would be great for Dolly. She s only seven. Didn t you have a pet when you were seven? We ve the goldfish... That the best you can do? Pathetic with a capital p! Look. Tracy, I ll be honest with you... Why is it when adults say I ll be honest with you they re always trying to get you round to their way of thinking? Let me finish. Who would look after it?......who would groom it? Clean up after it? Take it for walks three times a day in all weathers?... Me and Dolly. It d be the best loved dog in the world.. Sorry Tracy. But how would you feel if you were seven and the one thing you loved more than anything else in the world was taken away from you so that your horrid foster family could go on their Australian adventure? Awful, but as much as I d like it, we can t. It s just the rules. 3

How about a rabbit? Sad! We re not allowed? Did I say that? Adele, what time do you make it? Half nine. You out today? Yeah, my dad s coming to pick me up at eleven... There s a free lipgloss on this if you want it? Hi Justine? Nice dress... Thanks. Want a chocolate button? Oh yeah! What s this, what s this.come on. What s this, what s this? Gotcha! Hey Justine. You and Louise fancy watching a film with us tonight? 4

What is it? Just name it. Don t mind me... So? Yes or no? Well, depends on what time I get back... So that s a yes? Looks like you ve got yourself an admirer there... It s my dad. STEVE: It s great to see you, love - you look pretty. STEVE: I hope you don t mind, but there s someone here that wants to join us for the day? STEVE: This is Carrie.. Oh no. I forgot. I ve got a school project and It needs to be in tomorrow and I haven t started yet. Sorry... Got to finish it.. See you... Fang, lovely Fang. Thanks Tracy. What are we going to do now these have run out? Raid the kitchen. 5

Where s he going to sleep? Here.. What if he needs a pee? We took Rocket out three times a day. How we going to get Fang down to the garden without Duke seeing? No problem. We just have to be organised. I saw you come in? Thought your dad was taking you to lunch? He, he had to go somewhere... Here s your magazine back.. Thanks. Never mind - sounds like you ve got a hot date tonight? Yeah, right, like he fancies me? He fancies you. And, if you re very, very nice to me, you can borrow some make-up? Tracy? Quick, In the basket! Come on, it s lunch. Tracy? Tracy? Tracy? Nathan! Kids.. You got anything for the wash...? 6

No. Not today. You fib Tracy. There s a whole pile there... Uh yes. That s right. I have a whole pile of washing. But you can t have it... Tracy. Nathan, the last time you did it it came back three sizes too small.. Cam had to buy me a whole new wardrobe even though she s poor. I promised her, I d do it all by hand... Yeah, well it it s complicated that machine... Yes I know... What..what you doing. Come on. What you waiting for? Come on, it s lunch. Tell you what, I ll stick one of these up on the notice board in the hall. VIKRAM: Ah, don t worry. They usually come back when they re hungry. Is that his name? Yeah Fang. Yeah, well, I ll give you a call if we hear anything. VIKRAM: Thanks. 7

Louise, Lol, Justine! Come on, lunch. Louise, can you take.hang on. uh wait. wait It s that dog again? What dog? That s it! This is war! LOUISE : Oh, ah, er..that s so gross. What s going on? Don t move, Don t move oh no... Oh no, it s disgusting and it s everywhere Oh my shoes, oh oh..gross. Freeze! Quick. Was it a scruffy, mutty type of dog? Yes it was a scruffy, mutty type of doggie! Fang. Fang. Here. Come on. There s a good boy. Look, if Duke catches him, he ll make him into a pie... 8

Ah don t worry. You ve got us now... We won t let that horrid Duke get hold of you.. Come to Dukie. Distract him! Come to Dukie... Oh Dolly? Are you all right? Dolly! Dolly, look, are you sure you don t know where this dog is? Well, I ve given Vikram a ring and I ve asked him to come round and if it is his dog, there s a 10 reward... He s someone s pet? But you have to have him... All right, but I can t promise he ll get much walking.. Be a good boy Fang. Whose dog is he? He s one of the dogs for the um dog walking for the elderly uh community thing I m doing for school. 9

But you can t do it Oooh. Pulled a muscle... oooh. Got to rest it. See ya.. Hey..but I thought you said... Tracy, he s someone s pet. Ah. We did see him, didn t we Dolly? Down by the canal......getting a boat to the West Indies.. Tracy? Hi Hi Can I ask you something personal..? It s a bit..you know... You re a really good mate you know that? Um and because you re a really good mate, I thought I could ask you.do you think Louise would go out with me? 10

I have to take him back... OK, but look if the old lady ever finds he s too much I ll have him. You ll have him? Too right. He s great. Really funny and no trouble.. Really funny? Yeah. It s the way he looks at you. You know? That cheeky lopsided grin of his... He s not grinning, he s baring his teeth... No. You wouldn t do that. You re never naughty are you? Not like me, eh? Is that why you couldn t keep me? I wasn t funny enough? I was too naughty, too much trouble? No. Tracy. It wasn t like that... Do you fancy Lol? Er. No! He s asked me if you d go out with him? Me? I said I d ask you. So should I say yes? No way. He s far too immature. Hey. What s up? Nothing. Everything. My dad and me were supposed to go out today but he brought his new girlfriend and, an you know... 11

His girlfriend? That is so not cool. Tell you what. Lets go upstairs and I ll give you a make over, yeah? Use my new tongs? Urgh. dead lady hair? Come on FANG: Woof! VIKRAM: Fang. Where ve you been? Where ve you been? VIKRAM: The reward.. Result! How s about we put that towards getting you a pet of your own? I really like rabbits..? A rabbit. Yeah, a rabbit. I had a rabbit at the Gilmore s. It really long ears and massive feet...much better than a dog! You see? There s the boring way of doing things, and the Tracy Beaker way of doing things! 12
