The Art of Group Coaching Transcripts, Part 1

~ 2 ~ The Art of Group Coaching Transcripts I m recording, everybody. I would like to start out with a little connection with all of us coming together. If everyone could just put down any pens and papers. Come fully present. Maybe take a big, deep breath. As you exhale, just let go of any distractions or any cares or concerns that you may have. Just allow yourself to really focus in here and open up to the learning that you re about to receive. As you re opening up to the learning, I d like you to call to mind and think about a word or a phrase that describes your intention for this group coaching course. It could be a word. It could be a phrase. Just something that describes your intention for this course. What I d like to do is, I d like to call out the names of each person here. When I call out your name, you have a couple of options. You can let us know your intention or you can pass if you like. It s always really good to speak your intention out loud. If you re not ready to speak it today or you don t want to, that s perfectly fine. Just think about what you re intention is for this course the next four weeks that we re together. Think of a word or a phrase. Nancy, what s your intention? JP: It s not a word. It s going to be a few words. To learn everything I possibly can to have an awesome coaching group starting next month. Alright! That s a mouthful. Alright. Everything I possibly can. That is. To have an awesome coaching group next month. Awesome coaching group. In September. I m sorry, it s starting in September. In September. Alright. I got that. I got that written down. Great. Thank you, Nancy. You re welcome. Thank you. JP? What about you? What s your intention? To see how I can use the group coaching as an option of a book I ve written.

~ 3 ~ JP: JP: JP: JP: Beverly: Beverly: Oh. Excellent. And do you want to tell us the name of the book because I m curious? Yes. I m a psychic. I m an intuitive and a mystic. I ve written a book called Beyond the Void, a Healer s Journey. It s yet to be published, but it s completed. I just have to do a few tweakings. Beyond the Void, a Hero s Journey. A Healer s Journey. A Healer s Journey. Okay. See, that s why I repeat things. So I can get the right. I m no hero. I am a healer. Thank you, JP. That s beautiful. To learn how to use group coaching with the book that you ve written, Beyond the Void, a Healer s Journey. Thank you. You re welcome. Beverly, what about you? What s your intention? It s three-fold, actually. I m glad that this doesn t have to just be a word. I want to experience you coaching because I have really never had that experience. I ve read as much as I can about it as well so I can start here as part of my coaching sessions. I m planning to start a group coaching program mid-september or October. Alright. So to experience group coaching, to learn about it, and to start a group mid-september, October. Yeah. Excellent. Thank you for all of those words. <laughter> Beverly: You re welcome. I always love it when people expand the definitions here. Nicki, what about you? What s your intention for this class? I thought of the word deepen. I think I would like to deepen my skill in doing group coaching and perhaps like I think JP said, figure out a way to offer a group coaching around my e-book, The Joy Factor. That s my intention. The Joy Factor. That is a great book. I ve read it myself.

~ 4 ~ Oh, thank you. Thank you, Nicki. I hear somebody pounding in the background, so if you think that might be you, the six button will mute your phone. Thank you. <laughter> Barbara: I love it. The six will unmute also, if you need to share. Barbara, what about you? Karen, it s interesting. When you say a single word, the word that came straight into my mind was whole. To be whole. I m wondering if maybe this isn t part of a missing puzzle for me or part of my services missing, certainly the group coaching. I also get the feeling that to be part of this group, everyone from all over the world. How absolutely fantastic to be able to talk to all these amazing people about the intention to create group coaching. I think maybe my intention is a little bit two-fold. Certainly to help me to become whole in my services, but to become part of this group as well. Barbara: Ann: Ann: Doris: Doris: Fai: Thank you. Thank you, Barbara. That s a beautiful word whole. W_H_O_L_E. Thank you for your part in this puzzle and in this world and in this group. Thank you. Ann, what about you? What s your intention? Manifest. Manifest. That s a big, strong word. That s your word, huh? That s my word. Thank you. I got it in big, bold letters across this page. Thank you, Ann. Doris, what about you? What s your intention? My intention is that I intend to actually do group coaching a teleclass or seminar. I would really like to learn from you as to how I go about conducting a (unintelligible 7:10) actual group coaching. Great. Thank you, Doris. We re in the middle of conducting a semi-group coaching right now. Thank you. Thanks a lot. Fai, what about you? What s your intention? First, I really enjoy learning in a group the way you offer it. I probably can t get enough of this.

~ 5 ~ Fai: Joann: Joann: Me neither. Thank you. Second, I also have an intention of starting group coaching eventually. I feel like I want to learn as much as I can. Great. Thank you. Joann, what s your intention? Let s see. I know I want to feel the experience, get that experience. I m glad to hear that a lot of other people have that intention. From reading your s and your notes before this, Karen, I got a sense that we were really going to feel the experience of group coaching. I think what I want to do with that is try to get a sense of how I can recapture that when I begin group coaching from the point of view of a feeling, not just the structure. Great. Joann, we will go through some of that. Great. The feeling. I love it. Thank you. Kim, what about you? What s your intention for this class? She muted. She s sending me a little message. She s with Nicki. Okay, let s go back. Nicki Am I muted? More awareness. Kim wants to learn more awareness and deeper learning. Deepening, yeah. Deepening just like you, Nicki. Oh good. Is there anyone else that has joined us? Who is that? This is Jane. Jane! Hello, Jane. How are you? Technically challenged and fine. Well, welcome. You ve overcome that technical challenge. Jane, I don t know if you ve heard, but I asked the question Yes, I got it. Great. My intention is to be present and apply what s here for me.

~ 6 ~ Okay. Great. Be present and apply what s here for me. I like that. It seems like it almost sums up what everyone else has said. I m really glad you made it here with us. This morning, your time, right Jane? Yes. Excellent. Alright. This little activity right now that I ve taken everyone through, asking for your intention, is actually what could happen easily on the very first group coaching session. Doris, when you re talking about conducting the actual group coaching, I m going to conduct our sessions somewhat like a group coaching session, although we will be learning. There will be more content here as we go along, but I want to kind of give you the feel of what it s like. The very beginning of group coaching, the very first thing in the six steps of group coaching by the way, I m going to go through some logistics here with the group. The first thing we did, though, here in the beginning was this connection where I asked everyone to come present and I asked a question. I asked each of you to give me a word or a phrase. This was the intention. In any group that you would be facilitating, you could bring the group together. They might be coming together for a specific theme. You could ask them what their intention was or you could also ask a word or a phrase that they re feeling right then. Just a simple question. The reason I said that I was going to mention everyone s name and they could pass if they wanted was because I really wanted everyone s voice in the circle here. Even if someone said, I want to pass, that s okay, too. I want to give everyone a chance, at least in the beginning, of participating and saying something. Any way that you d like to do it, you could just ask people whoever wants to speak or call on them as I did. The one thing that I would ask, if you do call on people, let people know that they can pass if they want. That creates a safety in the group. I m going to talk a little bit about the model of group coaching. Then I m going to go into logistics and step two. We re a little bit out of it, but the very first step in the model is the connection. That s what we just did. That s step one. You can see that there s an e-book on the site that will take you through these steps also. Step two is group agreement. We re going to get ready to go right into the group agreements. We re going to set up our group agreements today for the way we re going to be together in our class. This would be similar to what you could set up as group agreements when you run your own group. The next thing we ll be going into is group agreements. After that, the third step is the content. In a coaching group, there s very little content. It s mostly about questions. We really want our participants to bring the content. We want them to bring their questions

~ 7 ~ around whatever topic that we decide to have the group about. For instance, I m running a group right now of coaches who are doing business development. I will ask them questions about their own business development and take them through some processes and allow them to bring the content and bring mostly the questions that they have and have them share with each other. In terms of content, I really want to do a lot of questioning and jumping off points. The fourth step in group coaching is the actual coaching. That s checking in with the participants. Today I will check in with you on the topic that will lead us into our next class. The fifth step is action. From the coaching, from what we hear with each other in the group, some requests will come through. Maybe some inquiries. Inquiries are basically just questions that people can hold in their mind until the next group. Either requests or inquiries. Something that s going to bring them into action in the next week or before the next coaching session. The sixth step in the group is the inspiration. That s the leave. We call that the leave sometimes. What happens in the sixth step is selfacknowledgment or acknowledgment of learning. Some of the coaches on this class have taken classes at ICA. If you have, you might know that we do ask at the end of the class, What have you learned? What are you taking away?" This is a similar kind of idea. Yet, the self-acknowledgment is, I think, even more of a deep question at the end of a group. What would you like to acknowledge yourself for in this group? Either of those, depending on the group, whichever one is easier to answer. We usually ask for that. That s basically a very rough draft of the six-step model. These are the steps that we re going to be going through in each class and that you could go through in each of your group meetings that make it really easy. I want to just mention that this is our first class. We re going to set the foundation here. This would be like the first group where you would be setting the foundation. Next week our class will be around your questions about a coaching group. I ll set that up for you. It ll be kind of like one of the middle coaching group sessions. Our third class is going to be around organizing and marketing your group. I switched the order of these two today. The third and fourth because I looked at them and it just seemed like it would be better to switch. We ll talk about organizing and marketing your group. I know some of you have some questions about how we encourage people to participate in group coaching. The last class will be a completion class. How would we complete our group? What would we do in that kind of a group class?

~ 8 ~ Let me stop here and ask are there any questions about what I ve just said or about what we re going into? I have a quick one. This is Nicki. Is step four comments and coaching? Five, self-acknowledgment? Actually, step three is content. Step four is coaching. Thank you. And five? Step five is action where we have the requests. Six is the selfacknowledgment. By the way, Nicki, I made up this really cute handout. I really like it for the Tucson coaches. I ve posted it to our webpage. There s a little outline of these six steps. Okay. I ll go get it. I m going to kind of use your segue to move into the group agreements. Was that the one question, Nicki? Yes. Okay, great. You ve perfectly led me to the next step. Great, because I was sort of floating off. Oh, no, no, no. In the group agreements, the next part of our model, we re going to talk about the logistics and how we re going to be together as a group. A couple of things that are true about this group is that if you need to mute, you have the six button on your phone. Unmuting is the six also. I wanted to mention here s another logistic. We ve had requests for this group coaching class as an info-product. There are people who really can t make the classes, can t make the calls. We are recording these calls. We re going to post them to the webpage so that you can listen to the calls if you miss one. You can download them as mp3 podcasts so you can have them forever if you want. I also want to mention to you that if you have something that you would rather not have on a recording if it shows up on a recording in a month or two or something on an info-product just send an to support@karencappello.com and we ll edit it out. I really want to be able to make this information available to other coaches. The easiest way to do that is to record this teleseminar. Having said that, if this were a regular coaching group and not a class about coaching, I would only record for the benefit of the people in the group to really keep that safe space for them. This course has content. I feel that would be safe. Truly, if anyone has anything they want edited out, just send an to Kim at support@karencappello.com and we ll take care of that.

~ 9 ~ The next part of logistics is that you have access to a webpage. There was an that you should have received today. Let me ask is there anyone who did not receive an today? Beverly: Beverly: I don t think I did. Beverly? Okay. I ll make a note to check on that, Beverly. Okay, thanks. In that I reference a webpage, KarenCappello.com/gc2.html. That s the number two. On that page there is an e-book on group coaching. There is an outline sheet with the six steps of a coaching group. There are two free audios. These were two free calls that I gave. They re great calls. The content is really good. There s lots of noise in the background, but they re good calls. Those are free on that webpage for you. Each week, Kim is going to be uploading recordings of this particular call onto that page. If you get on that page and bookmark it, each week if you want to re-listen or you want to download those mp3 s and keep them on your computer, you can easily do that. Also, we ll be sending up the number for the replay phone line. Each week you can also listen to this on the phone. That will be sent in an . Next week, the replay line will be the same. This particular call will be recorded over with our call next week. Are there any other logistics or any other questions at this point before we go into our Standards of Presence? What was next week? That s the part I missed. I got the third and fourth week. What are we going to be covering next week? Next week is any questions that you have about group coaching. That ll be the content. If you don t have any questions, I have a lot to say. <laughter> I have a whole group of frequently asked questions. I would really love it if you have any questions. At the end of our call today I ll set that up so you can either me or you can bring those questions to our call next week. Great. Thank you. Thanks for that clarification. What we ve done is that we ve already gone through step one, the connection, and step two, part of our group agreement, which is the group logistics. There s a second part of the group agreement. Actually, that second part of the group agreement will be our content for tonight s group. That is the

~ 10 ~ Standards of Presence. The Standards of Presence are a group of intentions that we make and agreements that we make with ourselves and with each other about how we re going to be together as a group. One of the reasons I love the Standards of Presence is that they create a very safe environment where people can really be together and be transformed and empowered. On the very first group session, what we do is spend some time we re going to do that tonight in going over these Standards of Presence and finding out if everyone agrees to them or if they would like to amend any of these agreements. Those of you who did either download your e-book or are at that webpage, these Standards of Presence are found on pages eighteen through twentyone of the e-book. I ll just give everybody a moment if you can get there. If you can t, it s perfectly fine. We re going to go through them and read them out loud. In the very first group, it s so important to come to agreement with these or some set of agreements so that everyone can go deeper and really feel safe as a group. As we go through these Standards of Presence, you might be thinking to yourself, If I were to use these for my group, would I use all of these? Would I use some of these? Would I use something different than these? Would I add something to this? Just think about making it your own if you like. You re more than welcome. These come from the Foundation for Inspired Learning through Coach for Life. You may definitely use them as they are. You can also adapt them. If you d like, if you can use the very same bottom copyright and just say adapted from the Standards of Presence, that will be just fine. Does anybody have the Standards of Presence open on their computer or in front of them? Female: Female: Ann: Ann: Ann: Yes. Yes. I d like to ask if anyone would be willing to read the first paragraph of the Standards of Presence, the approach. I can manifest that. Thank you. Look at you! You re already manifesting! Just the first paragraph. Just the first paragraph. Alright. The approach, co-creating a safe environment. All groups that come together for the purpose of learning, creating, communicating, living or celebrating are served when the creation and maintenance of a safe space is established. A truly safe group environment provides the basis for powerful transformation, empowering exploration, inspired

~ 11 ~ collaboration and vibrant living. The use of the Standards of Presence will be clearly articulated and easy to understand as a set of guidelines to provide a proven container of safety in any group. Thank you, Ann. I do hear some background noise. If you think that might be you, if you could press six, that would be helpful. Thank you. Who would like to read the second part, the Underlying Principle Acceptance, those two paragraphs? I will. Thank you, Nicki. The Underlying Principle Acceptance. The primary underlying principle of the Standards of Presence is acceptance. Know that everyone is doing their best to learn, grow, respect and follow these Standards. Selfacceptance is particularly beneficial to experience a safe, empowering environment to learn, create, communicate and celebrate. Thank you, Nicki. You re welcome. I m going to read the next part, the practice. The practice is to say, It is my intention to Each person in the group agrees to practice these Standards to the best of their ability. The co-creation of this group s safe space begins with number one. What I d like to do now is go through each of these Standards of Presence. I m going to ask if anyone would be willing to read them. Whomever reads them, after they read it, if there are any amendments or any changes that anyone wants to make to the Standards, if there are some changes, we ll talk about those. If there are no changes, we ll get agreement from the group. When I m in person, I do ask people to raise their hands for agreement because there s something about physically doing something in the body that makes it really important. I can ask us to raise our hands on the phone and we can. I can t see those yet. I haven t learned that. What is that called? Remote viewing technique? Anyway, what we ll do is, I ll just ask if there are any amendments or changes. Then I ll ask if everyone agrees. If you agree, you can just say yes and we ll hear all the yes s on the line. Who would like to read the very first Standard? I will if no one else wants to. Go ahead, Nicki. Okay. It is my intention to maintain confidentiality. What I see and hear that is personal or specific to another within the group will stay here. When sharing the essence of someone else s story without the names and

~ 12 ~ specific details, I agree to share in an honoring manner that celebrates the original person s magnificence. Thank you. Are there any amendments or changes to maintaining confidentiality? If you re in agreement with this, please say yes. <collective yes> Doris: Doris: Okay, thank you. Any no s? Okay, thank you. What about the second one? Who would like to read Adapt a Stand for Innocence? I ll read. Okay, Doris, please go ahead. Adapt a Stand for Innocence. I have a beginner s mind. I release evaluating or comparing once I m learning. I allow myself to try on (inaudible 30:31). This is really important, what Doris has just read. Really, it s a lot about the learning that we have talked about earlier in the call. It s about allowing ourselves to be open to (inaudible 30:51). Are there any amendments or changes anyone wants to make to this agreement? If you agree to adapting a stand for innocence, please say yes. <collective yes> Joann: Joann: Female: Any no s? How about number three? Who would like to read number three? I ll go ahead. Okay, thanks Joann. It is my intention to practice a positive focus. I focus on the ninety-eight percent or more that is working. What I focus on expands. I will fill my tank with the power of positivity. What I see in others, I strengthen in myself. Thank you, Joann. This is really important as we re together as a group to really focus on what s working. We know that expands, especially in ourselves. As we focus on what s working in others, we will strengthen what we perceive those things in ourselves. This is really important. Let me ask are there any amendments or changes to three? It s beautiful the way it is. I d hate to change it. Oh, thank you. It is, isn t it? If you agree with this, say yes. <collective yes>

~ 13 ~ Female: JP: JP: Any no s? Okay. Karen, do you ever have people that amend these? Excuse me? Do you ever have people who want to amend these? Yes, we do. Okay. In fact, JP, here s what happened in this very one, number three. We had somebody in the class say, You know what, I don t think I have ninetyeight percent that s working, but I would be willing to say eight percent is working. We said, Great. Would everybody agree to focus on the eighty percent or more that s working? Everybody said, Yes, we agree. What I did was we all made a note on our Standards of Presence so that the next time we came back together as a group like next week when we come back together, I read through the Standards. Probably just the top bullet points and remind everybody of the agreement. If there s a change or if somebody made an amendment, I will say, I intend to practice a positive focus. I focus on the eighty percent or more that s working. It s just a really nice way of allowing people to have exactly what they want. If there are people who won t agree to the Standards or to the spirit of the Standards, they probably don t belong in the group. That s a different conversation. Sometimes there are people, like the next one, connect at a deep level. I really like connecting at a heart level. I might say, Can we change that to a heart level? Does that make sense, JP? JP: Yes. I m so glad you asked that question. That s part of what I wanted to talk about tonight. You re perfect. Who would be willing to read number four? How about I ll read. In the interest of time, I ll read through them. <collective yes> I intend to connect at a deep level. I practice opening my heart to the essence of what is being conveyed. I practice opening my creative and life-affirming mind. I get out of my limiting and judgmental mind. I release the need to evaluate and judge, at least for now in the moment. I am anchored in my body as I connect with others. Are there any amendments or changes? Everyone willing to agree, say yes. I m just going to ask if everyone s willing to agree, say yes. If you do not agree, you can say no at that time and we ll talk.

~ 14 ~ <collective yes> Number five: I intend to claim my experience as my own. I focus on the parts that are magnificent, particularly in myself and particularly when learning or exploring new areas. I speak in I statements so I can claim my own experience. I release telling others what they should do, feel or believe, how they should act, et cetera. Are there any changes or amendments to this Standard? If you agree, say yes. Great. I agree to listen deeply and with honor. I am one hundred percent engaged and focus my positive attention on the presenter or person sharing. I refrain from side talk, cross talk or interrupting when someone is sharing. I refrain from formulating my response until the person sharing is complete. I refrain from making repetitive comments or drawing attention to myself. I respect and look again with new eyes. I release anticipating what that person is going to share. I see it as an opportunity to be fascinated by another. I look for the gifts being shared, their vulnerability, authenticity, brilliance, et cetera. I allow the person sharing to indicate that he or she is complete. <collective yes> That s a pretty long one. Any amendments or changes to that Standard? Everyone who agrees please say yes. Thank you. I intend to give only authentic and positive acknowledgment and support. I am authentic while giving only positive feedback. I keep it simple and speak to the essence of what I experienced. I maintain eye contact and/or heart contact in the case of a teleclass with the person to whom I m giving support while remaining fully present in my body. I allow this session to stand on its own. I release comparing this session to past sessions. I notice when I want to give unsolicited advice, criticism, counseling or consulting and then release it without sharing it. Are there any amendments or changes to this one? The very last one reminded me of something about storytelling. It may be here somewhere else. There s this unsolicited storytelling that I would add to this also as an additional point. People get really triggered by something that happened with them. It s very useful to know that this is my story, it s not theirs and just let it go. Okay. So releasing unsolicited advice, criticism, counseling, consulting or storytelling. Can we add that one in? Is everyone willing to add that word in? <collective agreement> Thank you, Jane. It s always great when we make these our own.

~ 15 ~ Yes. As amended, is everyone willing to agree to number seven? <collective yes> Okay, thank you. Number eight: I intend to fully receive acknowledgment and support. I am open to receiving acknowledgment as the gift it is and let it sink in. If you think number seven was hard I m just kidding. I maintain eye and/or heart contact with the person acknowledging me while remaining fully present in my own body. I respond with a simple thank you and I refrain from cross talk or comments back to the person acknowledging me. Any amendments or changes to number eight? Does everyone agree to number eight? <collective yes> Thank you. Number nine. We call this love potion number nine. I intend to practice self-care and self-responsibility and allow others to do the same. I maintain a safe space for myself. I take care of and honor the wisdom of my body, heart, mind and source of inspiration, allowing them to guide me. When something feels like a judgment or advice, I can simply ask that it be reframed. When I have a judgment, I say thank you for sharing to that voice within me and I choose a more resourceful thought and focus. I empower others by allowing them to take care of themselves. I just want to mention something about number nine. If in the course of our group somebody might say something to somebody else like, Well, I think you should XYZ. Okay? If they said that to me and it felt like a judgment or some kind of advice, I would say to them, Would you mind asking me that in the form of a question? Or, Would you mind speaking about that in another way in your own experience? That s what we mean by reframing that. I think somebody s got maybe a microphone on a computer, maybe. My favorite quote is, Don t should on me and I won t should on you. I love it. Don t should on me. Okay. Number nine. Don t should on me and I won t should on you. You ve bottom-lined the whole thing, Nancy. You took all those words and made one sentence. I like it. Would everyone be willing to practice number nine, including don t should on me and I won t should on you? <collective agreement> Okay. I ve got to write that down. That s so cute. Good. Thank you. Number ten is that I intend to be fully present. I maintain these agreements in and out of the learning space. I m honoring. I m here on time to start and after all breaks, I m here. I stay for the entire course. I

~ 16 ~ stay here. I wear my nametag in a visible place. In a teleclass, I state my name when speaking. I m known. I m free from the effects of mindaltering substances. I m conscious. I value my intuition and use my multiple intelligences to guide me. I m fully present. Any changes or amendments to number ten? Could have a glass of champagne before the class. No, I m just kidding. I noticed that you changed the wording. You said, I use my multiple intelligences. Do you want to make that change? That s really a typo in here. That s a change. Thank you, Jane. That s a typo because the other one has it in there. What about everyone say yes to this in agreement as amended? <collective yes> Thank you. I want to say, we took a bit of time with these Standards of Presence tonight. We probably will not take that much time ever again. This really sets a foundation, though, for the way we are together. This creates a lot of safety in the group. It creates a lot of safety for the facilitator. If people are agreeing to these every group meeting we have, we remind the group of the Standards of Presence. People have agreed to them and they re reminded so they will have that positive focus and they won t be saying to each other, You should do this. It really brings to mind, I feel, such an honoring and respect for each other. This will help you as a facilitator in going through this. Let me ask are there any questions about the Standards of Presence and about how we went through it? Anything in your minds on that? Do you suggest that we this out, a copy of this, or have people go to our website and download it prior to the first meeting? I do. I do. Actually, I should have done that before we started. You could have done that. Thank you, Nancy. I m shoulding on myself. You are. Really, let me say that in a different way. That would be a great idea. That would have been my if I wasn t so scattered this weekend. That would have been your preference.

~ 17 ~ That would have been my preference, thank you. That s a good idea. You can actually just cut and paste it right from this e-book. I can send you a copy. Would everyone like a copy of this in Word? <collective agreements> JP: Or we could change it. Whatever we re most comfortable with. Okay, good. I ll send a copy in Word in the post-class . Do you ever have them sign the document? You know, I don t, JP, but that s a good idea. Especially if we were in person. That might be really great for everybody to see each other signing. I like that. If you have a teleclass, you could also have them sign it and it back to you. Maybe the last page or something. We agree to the above or have something stated with a line for their signature. Yeah, that s a great idea. Then it would be coming from their address so you know that it s from them. It s more the accountability. Yeah, that s a great idea, JP and Nancy, expanding on that. However you feel comfortable, I would say, is the best way to really give this. I m conscious of our time. Really, in the very first group coaching session, going through the Standards of Presence, this took almost twenty-five minutes. Somewhere around twenty, twenty-two minutes. It s really important to set this foundation. This would take, in the very beginning, more time. In group coaching, if you wanted to do maybe an hour and a half session instead of an hour and have some introductions of participants other than their intention, you could add more time to that. Bringing all this together, I want to make sure we go with the flow here. We ve gone through the connection and the Standards of Presence and the group logistics. I did say the Standards of Presence were going to be our content and our coaching. Some of you were able to check in on these and ask questions and expand these today. That s taking care of the heart. Now we re going to move into the mind of our coaching group and of our class. In the mind of the class, what I d like to do is my request to you is between now and next week, read through what s on the webpage. In that group coaching book there are some frequently asked questions. There s some really good content in that e-book. You may have some questions that aren t answered there. You may want some of those answers explained auditorally. Some people are much better in hearing things.

~ 18 ~ They prefer that rather than reading. Go through and if it s something in the book, if it s something out of the book, any question that you have about group coaching, things that you ve brought in, bring that to class next week. That is going to be our content and our coaching. You might be stuck around something with group coaching. You might say, I m not sure I can do this. It can be anything you want to ask about. It can be personal, it can be universal. It can be what my experience of groups are, what I ve heard, what I ve learned. Anything you want to know. That will be our content next week. That s the action I m requesting of you. What I d like to do now is that I d like everybody there s one other little piece that I d like to do. I think in the interest of time I m going to have everybody write this down. I would ask that you this to me. I have your intentions. Think about as we ve talked tonight, as we ve gone through the Standards, as you ve heard some things about group coaching, some other peoples intentions, think about what you would like to receive from this group coaching class. It could be the same as your intention. It could be something different. Sitting here three weeks today at the end of our last class, what do you want to be able to say that you have received? Just think about that and write something down. Again, it could be a word, a phrase, a paragraph. What would you like to have received at that point? It could be the same as your intention, too. If you could, if you want to continue writing, if you d like to that to me, I would love to have that in my file. If you re not an er and you don t want to it, you know that s perfectly fine. We have the or not in our groups all the time. Any request can always say or not. If you d like to send it to me, I will keep holding your intentions because I have those written down and also what you d like to receive. I noticed you wanted them sent to you. I have something coming up about that this is a group, a non-partisan group. I d like to share what I have to say with others. I d like to share anything that anyone else would like to share with the group. I don t know if you might be a funnel for this going out before the next session. Perhaps everyone can receive a copy of intentions that everyone would like to share with us so we ve got them flowing through it. That s a great idea, Jane. Let me put it this way. If you send me your intention within the next forty-eight hours, I ll correlate them and I ll send them in an . How s that? <collective agreement> Female: I ve got a bunch of requests from this group tonight. I love it. What did you expect from coaches?

~ 19 ~ I know. It s so true. I love it. I m so excited about your expansion of this group and about your asking for what you want. It thrills me to no end. I really want you to know that. That was really our part here in the requests and inquiries. What I d like to do next is we know what the next part is, don t we? Selfacknowledgment and acknowledgment of the learning. I d really love it if each person would share. You can share, again, a word or a phrase or as much as you want. We ve got a few minutes. I can stay a couple of minutes extra if we need to. What have you learned today or tonight or what would you like to acknowledge yourself? Would it help I think I m just going to call out the names in the interest of time. How s that? I m going to start with you, Nicki. What would you like to acknowledge yourself for? Barbara: Ann: For allowing my heart to just melt. I feel like whenever we do the Standards of Presence, it s just very spiritual. Like I went to church, too. Thank you, Nicki. You re welcome. Thank you. How about Barbara? Karen, I think being one hundred percent present to what s going on. I ve got, obviously it s my daytime. It s my morning. I m getting into all of my work. To be able to just put all of that aside and be here listening to what s going on and to be fully present to it. I thank you for that. The Standards of Presence, I think, are a really powerful force. Thank you, Barbara. I know there s noise in the background. If you could press six that would be really helpful. Ann, what about you? I always kind of look at the practical and I m feeling very good about the tools that I have for this. It increases my confidence level. I m loving the toolkit that I see coming together to do this. Although I do have a lovely spiritual side, being a coach for Life graduates. That too. I love the tools that are coming together. Thank you, Ann. Doris? Doris: Hi. I think walking through the Standards of Presence and reading the e- book is really very encouraging. It really helps me as a beginner in group coaching. (Inaudible 54:37) giving me a jump-start here. Thank you. Fai: Thank you. Fai, how about you? I would like to acknowledge myself for taking another step in the process of becoming a great coach. Both personal and group coach.

~ 20 ~ Fai: Joann: JP: Beverly: Beverly: Kim: Yahoo! Yes. Thank you. For taking that next step. Joann from Montreal. It s very similar to the last person who spoke. I want to acknowledge myself for plugging into yet another learning situation that inspires me. Thank you, Joann. What about Nancy? What about you? I d like to acknowledge myself for really embracing the Standards of Presence. It s so beautiful and so spiritual. I m really going to spend some time with it. Thank you. Thank you, Nancy. JP? I d like to acknowledge myself for asking for clarification when I needed it and for offering and suggesting in the form of a question to help the group. Yay! Thank you, JP. I love that, too. Beverly? I would like to acknowledge myself for being here today with a beginner s mind and realizing that I can do this. This isn t as (inaudible 56:15) as I thought it was. Yay! Thank you. Thank you, Beverly. Jane? I would like to acknowledge myself for doing what it took to be here and then gently being here. That s me. Thank you, Jane. Congratulations. I m glad you made it. Kim, did you have anything you wanted to acknowledge yourself for? For being willing to expand. You might be wondering why I m reading the instant message from Kim when we re recording. Kim s recording so she wants to make sure her voice isn t louder than the rest on the tape. That s it. I want to say thank you to everyone. I want to acknowledge all of you. I feel such a great energy in this group. I m really excited to share more and more about group coaching. I just can t wait to see all these groups being formed. I want to acknowledge myself for putting out that little drop in the pond for each of you that s going to be a ripple into the world

~ 21 ~ <Thank you s> to help everyone expand and be better people because of all the groups that are going to be going on out there. Yay! We ll meet next week. In the meantime, I ve got a few requests that I will definitely follow through on. I look forward to being together again. Thanks, everybody. Have a great week.
