Mom & Daughter Discussion Questions The following questions are intended to draw you and your daughter closer together, to help you learn to be a student of her heart. Please allow for open and honest conversation without getting defensive or upset. The goal is to build trust between you and your daughter. In order for you to be student of her heart, she needs to be able to trust you with it. This means hearing some things you may not want to hear. For example, something you say might hurt her feelings or she may not understand your reasoning for a decision. This is the time to dig deep and work through things before they become bigger issues. Before you dive into these discussion questions, be in prayer for you both to be in unity, for a soft heart for both of you, ask for eyes of understanding - so that you can see deeper than what might be being said. Pray that you and your daughter will be drawn closer together and closer to God. Print the following cards out onto cardstock for durability. There are questions for both of you to ask each other, questions for mom to ask daughter and questions for daughter to ask mom as well as 6 blank templates for your own questions. Cut them out and store on a binder ring or with a binder clip. Plan a special time to start these discussion questions. For example, plan to go out to a nice restaurant for appies or a dessert. Pack a picnic lunch and go to the park or the beach. Go on a hike - not too rigorous since you ll want to talk while you hike. Go to a coffee shop or ice cream parlour. Hop into the car and take a short ride to a different city. Most of all...have a great time! In Grace, Aimee
What has God been teaching you lately? What steps can we take to ensure we stay close as mom & daughter, emotionally and spiritually? What is your biggest dream right now? For both mom & daughter What are 3 goals that we can work towards this year that will bless our relationship? What is your favorite verse or book of the Bible right now? Why? When do you feel most loved and appreciated?
How is our relationship different than that of other moms and daughters? Do we handle conflict well? If not, what can we do to help our relationship in this area? Where would you like to visit, if you could go anywhere? For both mom & daughter What major goal would you like to meet this year? *Additional question for mom to ask: How can I help you acheive that goal? What is one of the nicest things someone has done for you? What is the hardest thing about being a mom/teen for you right now?
In what ways can I serve you and love you better? Who in our church family do you consider to be a model of Godly womanhood? Why? Is there anything that is hindering our closeness right now? For mom to ask daughter Please note: feel free to substitute church family for another setting. How can I help you grow spiritually? Why is it important to you that your dad and I have a Christ-centered marriage? Do you think we have one? Why? Why not? What are some fun things we can do together as mom & daughter? As a family?
What has been on your heart lately? Do you have any questions or anything you ve been wondering about in regards to intimacy? If you could do anything you wanted right now, what would that be? For mom to ask daughter What makes you cry? What burdens your heart? What makes you sad? What sorts of things are important to you? What makes you angry or afraid? Why?
What is your favorite childhood memory? What are 7 qualities you love about me? What are 5 important values you want me to embrace above all others? For daughter to ask mom How have I shown myself faithful? What is the most difficult thing you ve had to overcome? What have been the happiest times of your life?
For your own questions
