1 Pittsburg - Camp County Public Library library.or How to Use Freading on your Kindle Fire 1) In order to download ebooks from Freading.com onto your Kindle Fire you will need to have an Adobe 10. If you do not have an Adobe 10 you will need to create one at this point. Go to You can do this from your Kindle or from a computer. 2) Now click 'Don't have an 107' The reason you need an Adobe 10 is to authorize your device to receive books from Freading. It is basically a way for Freading to make sure you are not copying the books and selling them. 2 4) In order to download the Freading app onto your Kindle you have to change the settings to allow for installation of applications from unknown sources. Depending on what kind of Kindle Fire you have you can get to settings in different ways. If you have the old Kindle Fire, go to settings by tapping the cog in the top right hand corner. If you have a newer Kindle Fire, go to settings by swiping your finger starting at the top ofthe screen and moving downward. Then tap 'More.' 5) Tap 'Device.' 2

3 6) Tap 'On' to allow installation of unknown applications. 7) Now go to slideme.org on your web browser to download the Freading app. You cannot download it from Amazon as Amazon does not carry the Freading app. DO NOT create an account with Slide Me. There is no need to do this. Search for Freading in the application search. 4 8) Tap on Freading. DO NOT click the Download books button or sign up for a free trial. First tap Freading. Applications.'......". "I HATE Annuities. 5 10) To finish installing the app swipe your finger from the top of the screen downwards to see your available downloads. Then tap on the notification. 11) Tap 'Install' at the bottom of the screen. 5

6 12) Now tap 'Open'. 13) You are now in the Freading app. Tap the three horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu. 6

7 14) Tap 'Account'. 15) Enter the Adobe ID and password you created earlier to activate your device for use with Freading. Then tap 'Activate'. 7

8 16) Your device is now activated. This is the only time you will ever have to do this step unless you deactivate your device. Tap the back arrow at the bottom of your screen to go back to the Freading app's homepage. 17) Tap the three horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu. Then tap 'Store'. 8

11 22) Browse the selection of books. Every week you are allotted 10 tokens to use and each book costs a certain number of tokens to checkout. 12 24) After you tap download EPUB,the Freading app should automatically open up. Your book will finish downloading in seconds. Tap the book to begin reading. 25) This is what your book will look like after you tap it. Tap anywhere on the right side of the screen to turn the page. Happy reading! 12
