1 Become a Cuppa For CANSA Online Fundraising Activist: 1. Go to and click on the "Get Involved" button 2. When you are through to this web page: click on "Raise Funds Online" button

2 3. Choose the existing CANSA Online Fundraising Project that you wish to raise funds for. In this case scroll down until you see the sub-heading Cuppa For CANSA. There are 3 Cuppa online fundraising projects under this heading choose the one that applies to you: If you are raising funds as an Individual click on Host My Own Cuppa If you are raising funds as a Corporate click on Host a Corporate Cuppa If you are only raising funds online without hosting an actual Cuppa click on Host a Virtual Cuppa Click on the link to this project.

3 In this manual you will now see screenshots for the Host My Own Cuppa online fundraising project directly below. (If you choose one of the other two Cuppa online fundraising projects the name of the project will be different, e.g. Corporate or Virtual, but the steps you follow to create your project will be the same). 4. Once you have clicked on the URL / link to the online fundraising project of your choice, you will go through to this online fundraising project page s web page. All online fundraising projects are hosted on the GivenGain Website. Top right of the web page you will see a grey button "Create your fundraising page" just beneath the Cuppa Logo - click on it. Scroll down for the next step

The next web page will confirm your intentions to create a fundraising page for this specific CANSA Online Fundraising Project - MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON THE DESIRED ONLINE FUNDRAISING PROJECT before proceeding. You will see the last sentence says "If you don't have a Facebook account, you can sign up for an Activist account right here." - Click on "right here" to proceed. 6. Fill in the form on the web page & when you are done click on "create an account" button at the bottom of the page.

5 7. You are now through to your personal Activist Profile on GivenGain where you can create as many online fundraising pages / projects as you like. 8. Check your Inbox for a link that GivenGain will you - click on this link in order to make your Activist Profile public. You are now ready to create your first Fundraising Activist Page. NB: If you don t click on the verification link GivenGain sends you, the public won t be able to see your fundraising page

6 9. Go to the white "Settings" button top right of your screen and click on it - you will now be through to your "Profile Info" page. 10. Fill in the relevant fields on your "Profile Info" Page and click on the "update" button: Your social media and website icons, as well as your "Bio" description, will appear underneath your profile pic and be clickable. Keep your "Bio" down to 10 words max & describe why you are passionate to raise funds for this project.

7 11. When you click the "update" button you will be taken to your updated "Activist Profile" page. 12. Return to your "Profile Info Page" by clicking on "Settings" button top right of your screen. See menu top left of the page (grey buttons) and click on "Picture" to upload your profile pic.

8 13. On the following web page click on "choose pic" to upload your profile pic from your documents. Ensure that the pic is the same height and width (square) - also a max of 4 MB and min height and width of 300 pixels, otherwise it will not appear centred on your Activist Page. Once you have selected pic lick on the "upload" button. 14. Crop your pic if you wish and then click "crop and save" button.

You will now be taken to your updated "Activist Page" where you should be able to see your name top left of page and at the top right of page, you should see your profile pic and beneath this, your links to website and social media icons. 16. Create your first project: Click on "projects" the menu on the left of your page OR Go to bottom where you are prompted to create your first project and click "create now" button.

10 In this manual you will now see screenshots from a CANSA Active - Run fundraising page directly below. Your web page will reflect the Cuppa project option you selected e.g. Host My Own Cuppa. THIS IS IMMATERIAL. The steps to finalising your fundraising page remain the same regardless which project you have selected. 17. You will be taken through to a page where you need to fill in fields naming and describing your fundraiser: Set Goals (target amount to raise) and Date (when do you want fundraiser to end); Describe your project (give a heading, description and personalise the "thank you" message). Click "create project" button. TIP: When setting date for online fundraising project to expire, bear in mind that Cuppa season begins 1 st June and ends 31 st October (You can however, host a Cuppa and raise funds online at any time of the year). This is just helpful to know if you wish to qualify for prizes for competitions that CANSA may run over the Cuppa Season. Scroll down for next screenshot

12 18. You are now through to a web page, where you can see further instructions re how to improve your project - click on "go to project" button to view your project as the public will see it. NOTE: unless you did what was required in Step 8, your activist page will not be visible to public. 19. You can edit your activist page - see bottom of the page "edit project". See the URL for your activist page in the URL bar at the top left of your screen in the URL bar - promote THIS URL / link to your potential online donors via and social media REGULARLY.

13 Tips to Promoting Your Online Fundraising Page: 1. Make Use of All Your Contacts & Ask Them To Pass On When you send out your appeal for donations towards your online fundraising page, make use of all your contacts and social networking contacts but don t stop there, ask these contacts to pass your request on to their contacts to broaden your potential donor base even use contacts within your community (your karate instructor he can share with his students, etc) 2. Be Direct If you are appealing for donations through Facebook, for example, don t just put your appeal in your Newsfeed, INBOX your friends! It is much easier to ignore something in the newsfeed than a personal message - if you are building up towards some kind of action e.g. an auction, create some hype by creating an event on Facebook and inviting your friends include the link to your fundraising page of course! 3. Make Your Appeal For Support Stand Out What is Your Story? Potential donors need to know they are supporting a worthy cause, but they also will be moved to action by your personal reasons for raising funds why has this cause touched you so deeply that you wish to raise funds for it? Are you doing this in memory of a loved one lost to cancer or in solidarity with someone who has cancer now? What is this organisation that you are raising funds for doing to improve matters? How will funds you raise help make a difference? 4. Promote Updates to Your Project A Few Times Per Week Posted a few new comments? Received a few new donations? Posted new links, pics or a video? Posted re your project s progress? Posted a Did You Know? fact? Use this as an opportunity to send out the URL to your project page again to all your contacts and ask them to pass it on 5. Your Comment Box on Your Project Should be Used as a Blog Update supporters regularly on how you are feeling or what you have been experiencing during this fundraising effort what motivates you, what do you need your supporters to do, thank people who have made donations or made inspiring comments, etc. Direct them to links on the Cuppa For CANSA Website at & the CANSA Website at so that they can learn more about CANSA s holistic care & support to those affected by cancer.

Make It Easy Make Your URL Available Include your URL to your fundraising page on everything online that is available to you e.g. as a footer in your s, on your social networks, etc. your project will then be just a click away from a potential donor! 7. Be Inspired - Have a look at a few online fundraising activists who got it right: Catherine White Cuppa For CANSA 2014 raised R8 530 online.
