Turn in these activities by the due date (Monday, September 11) to earn full credit. Each activity is a homework grade. List A Choose one. Explain how the author s word choices create tone in a scene of your choice in your story. Be sure to use details from the story to support your answer. List B Choose one. Create a glossary of important words from your story. Include a minimum of ten words that a reader would need to know to understand the story. Rewrite the ending of your story from a different character s perspective. Be sure to include dialogue and description that is based in the original story. Write a book review for your story. Use the fivestar rating system, and write a paragraph explaining your recommendation. Be careful! Don t include any spoilers! Explain the theme of your story. Theme is a message about life that the author wants readers to learn from the story. Be sure to include three details from your story to support your explanation. Design a new book cover for your story. Be sure to use color, be neat, and include important images, symbols, or characters from the story. Your finished product may be made by hand or on a computer. Digital covers must be printed. Write a character analysis that explains how one character from your story is revealed through his/her interactions with other characters in the story. Be sure to use three details from the story to support your answer. Make a book trailer for your story. Tips for Success on Summer Reading: Make a plan for how you will finish your activities by the due date. Consider long car rides and beach trips as prime reading hours.
