Study on Movie Script l We will study new vocabularies and expressions on this movie script. l There are three parts on this textbook. Ø Story (Movie Script) ² We divide movie scripts to fit into our ordinary lesson time, 25min. There are usually 15 to 20 sentences for a one day material. You will learn the whole movie script within a few months. ² During the lesson, you will read the story with your teachers like the usual RLC lesson. First, you will repeat after the teacher while looking at your copy. Second, you be will challenged to repeat after the teacher without looking at your book. ² This strengthens your listening and speaking skills as well as enriches your English vocabulary expressions. Ø New Words ² There are highlighted words in the story. These are important words and idioms ² During the lesson, you will try to explain the meaning of words and idioms. Also, you will make your own sentences by using new words and idioms. ² This enriches your explanation skills. Ø Discussion ² You will be asked few questions based on the script ² This also enriches your explanation skills. WiLLies English 1
Story (Movie Script) Day 15 Natasha: Lovely dress. It s very exotic. What a shame you couldn't bring your boyfriend, Bridget. What's his name? David? Darren? Daniel Cleaver. Oh. Is he a friend of yours, Mark? Absolutely not. I hope he's good enough for our little Bridget. I think I can say with total confidence absolutely not. Well, I'm sure he'd say the same about you, given your past behavior. Sorry? I think you know what I mean. Mark. Hmm. Looks like Auntie Shirley didn't get the message, either. (Scene: After the trip, Bridget to Daniel's house) [Doorbell rings] [Door closes] Hi. I really, really wanted to see a friendly face. Oh, now, listen, I'll tell you what. I have an idea. Let me finish this, while you go home, have a long hot bath and I'll call round, and we'll have dinner later, OK? Is there someone here? Not that I'm aware of, unless that Bosnian family has moved in again. They re bastards. [Laughs] Oh. I'm sorry. Sorry, I'm going mad. WiLLies English 2
Listen, I am feeling really bad, actually. I should've been there today. No, I'm sorry. No, no, I'm sorry, but at least I got a hell of a lot of work done. Just give me one more hour, OK? Fine. That's fine. I will go home and de-bunny. Oh and you know last night when I said that I loved you? Mm-hmm. I didn't mean it. I was being ironic. Oh, God, yeah. I know. I know. All right. Thank you, Madam. Mmm. [Bridget dropped her bag and went upstairs] Bridge. Bridget. (Scene: Bridget opened the toilet door of Daniel s room) Lara: This is Lara from the New York office. Lara, this is Bridget. Hey, there. I thought you said she was thin. [Bridget sniffles] This is totally insane. Narrator: The male penetrates the female and leaves. Coitus is brief and perfunctory and the female... (Scene: The next day, in the office) WiLLies English 3
New Words Please explain the meaning of words and expressions below. And make your own sentence using new words. 1. exotic 2. What a shame 3. good enough 4. past behavior 5. with total confidence 6. call round 7. aware of 8. a hell lot of 9. didn t mean to 10. ironic WiLLies English 4
Discuss Please discuss the points below with your teacher. 1. Why do you think Mark said that Daniel isn t good for Bridget? 2. What s the real reason why Daniel s driving Bridget away? 3. What would be your reaction if you caught him/her cheating? WiLLies English 5
