10 Members residing in Catalonia or elsewhere in Spain, must address themselves to any notary. Members residing abroad have two options: Address themselves to the Spanish consulate located in the territory or country of origin, if there is one (e.g. Spanish Consulate in Turkey, Spanish Consulate in Portugal, Spanish Consulate in France, etc.), as the legislation being applied is Spanish Law and therefore the conditions for legitimisation are the same as those for notaries in Catalonia and the rest of Spain. For information on Spanish consulates located abroad, we attach a series of links to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC), where you will be able to find said information: Address themselves to any notary in the country of origin (e.g. Turkish notary, Portuguese notary, French notary, etc.). In this case, there is only one exception, if the country of origin forms part of the Hague Convention, it will also be necessary for the signed form legitimised by a notary, e.g. a French notary, to include an Apostille. This means that in order to recognise the judicial effectiveness of the legitimisation of a French notary in Spain, it will be necessary to go through the process known as Apostille.
