He left his house in the morning to go into the bush for the purpose of felling timber and not returning in the evening his wife went to look for him. He was found dead crushed between two heavy logs heels uppermost. Apparently he had endeavoured to roll them down the hill and had somehow slipped between them. An inquest was to be held to-day but we have not yet ascertained the result. The deceased arrived with her husband in the Lord William Bentinck in 1841 and has resided in Wellington and suburbs ever since. Her husband was killed at Belmont 20 years ago. Her funeral was largely attended. Mrs Francis who was 91 years of age leaves eight children 56 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
