2 Objectives for the Seminar Participants will know the definition, elements, forms and purposes of blogging Participants will determine effective blogging techniques for their business Participants will be empowered to use blogging as a way to improve their business marketing, advertising, and customer relations

3 First things first fill out the me and my magic page, then stop. wait for our cue for the next magical event, then go!

4 what do you know about blogging? tell a neighbor what you know, what you ve seen, what you ve tried and your favorite blogs to read. 1 minute each set, go!

5 Answer & Share What is blogging? What is video blogging? What are the different purposes of blogging? What types of things do people blog about? What annoying, obnoxious, ineffective, or pointless things have you seen on blogs? What are some really cool things you ve seen on blogs?

7 blogging= your brand s voice what s voice?

8 What could you imagine Fancy Rhino blogging about? shout it out, folks.

10 Quick List: Make a quick list of words you heard, feelings you felt, themes you saw, and images you noticed. What do you think this company values and works off of?

11 Group Break Out Read the blog entry. Discuss what you noticed about the entry AKA: What s working, what s not. How does it connect to the company s motto and services? Are we informed, persuaded, connected, or called to action through this blog entry? If so, which and how?

12 What we (hopefully) learned Top 5 Blog Check-Off: Do I have a catchy title? Do I use a strong and engaging voice? Is it short, effective and clear? Do I include images or complementary videos? Do I leave the reader with a question to ponder, an action to complete, or a strong feeling to experience?

13 Now make your connection Take the next 5-7 minutes to quietly reflect and fill out your Blogger s Creed. This is a critical step as it will help you take what you ve learned and apply it in real ways for your business.

16 Why does America love Taylor Swift? Because she talks to us. She is vulnerable, silly, engaging and isn t always trying to sell us her music just herself and her friends and her adorable cat. But let s watch the more professional Taylor with an intentional sales pitch that doesn t really come off as one

17 Why V-log? Because people don t read. Okay, a lot of people don t read. But really, you can V-Log to: Update & inform people on news & stuff Share your company s organic culture and exciting milestones Tell a story or give background information Give out surprises or announce contests To brand their company with a face

20 V-logging 101 Keep it short. 30 seconds-2 minutes tops! If you don t have experience editing, just go organic and treat the camera like you are talking to a friendly customer or else things get awkward with splicing and music and all the things I ve done wrong in my own attempts to vlog. Have someone watch it before you post it, preferably someone who hasn t edited it. Use a company YouTube account to post the videos and make sure you set it as Public so that your viewers can actually watch them. Include your logo or company name or some way to distinguish it s brand official.
