3 Days 1-6 First, review your vocabulary to make sure you know each sign. Take your time. You can do one day at a time without worrying about falling behind. The best way to review is to stand in front of a mirror and have the video close by. Be sure you're signing each sign correctly before you start to practice or else you'll have double the work fixing any signs you've been practicing incorrectly. Start practicing your sentences. Practicing your sentences will also help you to learn the signs even if you're struggling with remembering the signs. Do not forget your facial expressions! If you're asking a question you need to have facial expressions or no one will know you're asking a question. WH questions: furrow your eyebrows, squint your eyes, and lean forward. Y/N questions: raise your eyebrows and tilt your head forward. If it's NOT a question, think, "how could I add facial expressions to this sentence?" If it's a positive statement would nodding your head add to its meaning? Would shaking your head add to it? If you are signing "I want to go to work tomorrow," but your face is showing disgust or sarcasm, then you've changed the meaning of your sentence! If you think the sentence is sad, make it sad looking. If you think you ought to be confused, show it!
4 Day 1 Today you learned the ASL alphabet. Keep practicing! In a later lesson I'll give more pointers on fingerspelling.
