1 My work experience Booklet 2 My diary
2 Work experience diary You have now started your work experience placement and this booklet is to help you get the most out of it. Every day you can record: what I have done what I have learnt new skills I have gained. Recording your thoughts and feelings will make you feel more confident and you can see how you have stretched your comfort zones to work with new people in an environment that is new to you. Take the booklet with you on your placement so it is at hand to jot things down (when they have just happened). You can also update your booklet at home or use the CD Rom. Throughout the booklet, you will be asked to complete some tasks to find out more information about the company and the positions within the company. 2
3 Remember! Health and safety Your employer will provide you with an induction on your first day, which will cover aspects of your job and what you are expected to do. Every employer will expect you to: act responsibly follow health and safety rules and instructions be tidy at work not to endanger yourself to others eg using equipment without permission and messing around only using equipment or doing things you have been told to do or use. 3
4 My work experience diary Day 1 It s your first day good luck and remember: you can use this booklet daily to record your experiences if you need support to fill in your diary, ask your support assistant or parent/guardian for help take time to record your thoughts. What have I done today? 4
