2 Information to help you Introduction your contract, flexible benefits and screening Welcome! Congratulations on your success with joining HSBC! We d like to make your experience of joining us as easy and as straightforward as possible. To help make that happen, we ve put together this short candidate guide to cover the various activities that happen between now and your planned start date. The guide is here to help you understand where you are in the process and what to expect from HSBC teams, in this next phase of your application. It will also help you to prepare the final documents or details that we may need to ask from you, to keep things moving forward. 1. Receiving your contract We will shortly be sending you your contract of employment. You will receive an advising you when this is ready together along with access details if you have not already accessed this system. Please ensure that you read through your contract carefully. This contains details of the core terms of employment. You also need to read the HSBC Employee Handbook for more information you can find it within the Further Actions and Next Steps , under For your information Employee Handbook. Once you have read through the contract documentation, please print, sign and us a signed copy of your contract as soon as possible. You can also your acceptance if you cannot access a scanner. We need to receive your formal acceptance before your start date, so please send the signed contract back to us or acknowledge your acceptance via as soon as you can. 3 More about your benefits, screening and clearance My Choice offers you a wide variety of HSBC benefits to choose from, under these key areas of interest: Planning for my retirement Protecting me and my family Protecting my possessions Leisure & Lifestyle Charity Please note: there are some potential UK tax implications*, and some National Insurance* savings on certain benefits. * NB - these points are different for our colleagues resident in the Channel Island and Isle of Man: you can check your local situation with the HRDirect helpdesk once you have joined the Bank. Once you join HSBC, you can then enrol and select the right mix of benefits for you. When you start in your new role, you ll get your HSBC employee online access, with your user name and password. You will then be able to access the My Choice information and selection pages on the HSBC intranet. 2. Advance information about your flexible benefits My Choice As an HSBC employee, you will also be entitled to various benefits as part of your total reward package. My Choice is our flexible benefits scheme you can see the headlines on and we will also send you a short guide in advance of your start date, so you can consider the particular benefits on offer to you in more detail before you join. Please read through the guide carefully as it is important that you understand the terms and conditions of each benefit as you consider the options. You can select your benefits once you start in your new role. 3. Next, your background screening Before you can start in your new role with HSBC, we have to complete some background screening checks to verify your information and ensure that you are legally permitted to join HSBC. Of course, we already have some of your key details through your application, but in order to comply with Government and financial industry compliance, we will need to ask you for some further information - the details of which will depend on the role that you have been offered. Within the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, this process is undertaken by our trusted partner, HireRight, which is an expert provider of background screening services to HSBC. To complete this important clearance phase, you will receive an or telephone call from either HSBC or HireRight acting on our behalf. The caller will

4 identify themselves to you, and your information will be held in strict confidence, as you agreed to the terms within your application to us, throughout this screening process. Please help us to speed this screening process for you: - Your availability during this final stage of application: we want to complete this final application process for you as soon as possible, but if you are going on holiday or will be unavailable for some other reason before your planned start date, please let your HSBC Recruiter know. Be ready to: Respond as quickly as possible, so together we can work to avoid any potential delay to your planned start date. Rest assured that the information that the Bank or HireRight request is absolutely necessary, to complete your new hire record and ensure that you can undertake your role with us. By preparing the information and/or documents we ll need for screening. See below. Preparing for screening, staying in touch What you can prepare now to help speed this process: We will collect certified copies of your Passport and relevant proofs of current address before screening can commence. Once HireRight contact you, to avoid any delays in you joining HSBC, we require all new joiners to complete the on-line form within 48 hours of receipt of the from HireRight. The average turnaround time for completion of vetting checks is approximately 20 working days for routine screening. Please note that this may differ depending on specifics items in your screening history. - References: please ensure that you have complete, accurate and up-to-date information for each of your former employers, ready to send to us when requested. Check their name and address, and your employment dates, so that we can obtain the right reference without delay. This can be particularly important if you have worked overseas. - Right to work: If we ve not asked you for this already, we have to ask you to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man, so please ensure that you have all of your supporting documentation to hand, particularly if you are a national of a non -European Economic Area country. 5 Channel Islands and Isle of Man guidance: For further guidance on the required documentation needed to work within the Channel Islands or Isle of Man, please contact your HSBC Recruiter. - Proof of address: we need to see proof of your current address documents must be dated within the last 3 months. This usually requires copies of utility bill, bank statement or other specified official documentation that shows your home address (main residence). In addition to this we also require details of any previous addresses within the last 6 years - Check your personal details in the application: make sure that your details are correct and consistent - (All details first name, middle name, family name, on your application, in our candidate portal system and on your contract, should be consistent with your name as it appears on your passport,. Please also tell us if you have a preferred form of name, which you would use every day at work: for instance, if you prefer to be called Liz rather than Elizabeth, or Tom rather than Thomas. Additional Information: - Providing your Forfeiture Statement from your previous employer (if applicable): If you are entitled to a share or cash reward buyout, please arrange for your previous employer to provide you with your forfeiture statement, you should then pass this document onto your HSBC Recruiter. - Considering setting up a new bank account? If you are based in 8 Canada Square and are considering opening a new bank account, you can arrange to do so, within our HSBC Staff Branch on Level 25 (further details are provided within the Further Actions and Next Steps ) If your work location is based outside of 8 Canada Square, please visit your local branch or go online Any other queries or questions you may have?
