Please let us know if this is something you would be interested in. DVD We also include a DVD in this pack for you to show, so you can get a flavour of the support we provide at St Elizabeth Hospice and how you can be a part of growing our services. St Elizabeth Hospice Giving It might also interest you to know you can set up your own online fundraising page through our website St Elizabeth Hospice Giving. Once your page is set up you can upload photos, videos and share your page with friends, family and colleagues wherever they are in the world. Your supporters can make secure online donations in minutes and also Gift Aid their donation, boosting your fundraising total at no extra cost to them. St Elizabeth Hospice Giving is a free service for St Elizabeth Hospice supporters and all money generated through this site comes directly to us. For more information, visit Tribute Funds There are many different reasons why people choose to fundraise for us. Some are fundraising in-memory of a loved one. You may be interested to know that any money you raise can be donated through a St Elizabeth Tribute Fund set up in a loved one s name. Once your Tribute Fund is set up you can upload photos, videos, share thoughts and link your fund to online fundraising pages that you can set up on our St Elizabeth Hospice Giving site. 8 Companies & Businesses We are sure you have plenty of ideas of how you can support St Elizabeth Hospice, but here are some to get you started: Talks - an Ambassador can visit to explain the services St Elizabeth Hospice provides for local people and where your money will be spent. Pillars of the Community - become a member of our Pillars of the Community network - for more information visit our website. Accumulator Challenge - friendly challenge between local organisations. You get a 50 stake to start and then see how much you can raise. Charity of the Year - make St Elizabeth Hospice your chosen Charity of the Year and we can support you with ideas. Sponsor a Nurse campaign - sponsor one of our nurses for a year, month or a week. Seasons - why not sell mince pies at Christmas or have a cake bake day? Collection Boxes - have a collection box for your customers to put loose change in. Dress down days - ask everyone to come to work wearing something unusual or following a particular theme and make a 2 donation. Gifts in kind - instead of a monetary donation, why not donate your service or equipment free of charge? Payroll Giving - a tax efficient scheme that allows you to make regular donations to St Elizabeth Hospice straight from your salary. Lottery syndicates - form a St Elizabeth Hospice lottery syndicate with your work colleagues from just 1 per week each. Donation sacks and donation stations - If you want to encourage colleagues or your community to donate goods too, why not set up a Donation Station? A Donation Station is a designated area of your choice where bags filled with quality items can be dropped off. You can set one up anywhere, from a small office to your local supermarket. Recycling - fill up some of our recycling envelopes with used mobile phones and inkjet cartridges.
9 How to maximise your fundraising Maximise your supporters Ask everyone you know to come along and to help spread the word all your contacts and let them know what you re doing Add a caption to your signature. Invite anyone to attend, donate or help out on the day Send a Facebook message and like St Elizabeth Hospice s page Tweet your activity on Twitter Connect with us on LinkedIn Maximise your fundraising activities Charge for tickets/entry don t overprice but don t undersell your event either Hold a themed quiz, tombola or lucky dip at your event Organise themed games and activities for donated prizes add a bit of competition Gift Aid it Please encourage your sponsors who are tax payers to gift aid their donations Gift aid is a government scheme which allows us to claim an extra 25p for every pound sponsored. The good news is, the money comes from the government and not your sponsors we are simply reclaiming the tax already paid on donations How to donate Online By cheque made payable to St Elizabeth Hospice posted to 565 Foxhall Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 8LX Donation form a donation form can be downloaded from our website By credit/debit card call us on In person drop in to see us at St Elizabeth Hospice, 565 Foxhall Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 8LX, between 9am and 5pm. If I had a loudhailer I would tell everyone in Great Yarmouth how fantastic St Elizabeth Hospice is. The doctors and nurses are excellent and I am now in much less pain. Archie McCue: 57, of Great Yarmouth, inpatient at St Elizabeth Hospice, Ditchingham
10 Promoting your event Letting people know that your fundraising event is taking place is the first step to having a successful event. You can promote your event through: Posters, flyers, s, spreading the word through friends, neighbours, relatives and work colleagues, through other groups you are involved in or even your local pub, community centre, post office, local parish or village magazine. You could also use Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about what you are doing. We can supply you with A4 and A5 poster templates so you can let people know about your event. We can also put your event details on our website. When promoting your event remember the important facts who, what, where, when and why. Ask your employer to support your fundraising effort, ask them if they are willing to help publicise what you are doing. Ways they can help: Staff newsletter, staff social events, contact with business colleagues They may even give a corporate donation or match the amount you raise. Media coverage is also a great way of letting people know about your fundraising efforts. Local television, radio and newspapers are always looking for good stories on local issues and events. Unusual fundraising ideas or events, ambitious sponsorship plans and news of personal achievement and triumph are all stories that may interest the media. The best way to let local media know about your fundraising event or challenge is to send them a news release. If you are not comfortable writing a news release you can call the local media s news desk and ask to speak to a reporter. Remember to let the media know well in advance if you want them to cover it or announce that it is happening. After the event, you could contact them again with photographs and tell them about what you achieved. You could also write a letter to the letters page of your local newspaper thanking your supporters for all their help. Our request to you If you are planning to contact the local media about your event, please let us know before you do so. It is helpful to know who you plan to contact, for us to see a copy of any press release and to know your timescales. This helps us to ensure we can plan and evaluate our media communications. If you are producing any promotional material for your event, please ensure you have the material approved by your Hospice contact before its production. We request this so that we can ensure our branding guidelines are being met.

12 Safety & Legals If you are running a fundraising event, please take care and note that it is your responsibility to make sure your event is safe and complies with any relevant authority s rules and regulations. If you have any questions at all about legalities please call us on and we would be more than happy to advise you in more detail. A few essentials to consider: First Aid ensure you have adequate cover available for the scale of your event. If you are not sure check with your local council. Food contact your local council for food hygiene regulations at events. Alcohol check if the venue is licensed or contact your local council to find out more about getting a temporary licence. Collections if you plan to collect in the street, you will need a permit from your local council. Contact one of our fundraisers for more information. Licences check with your local authority whether or not you need to obtain any special licences e.g. public entertainment, collection or alcohol. Raffles & Lotteries check the latest information and advice at Risk assessment identify any hazards and evaluate any risks at your event that you ll need to consider. Insurance - all venues and providers of equipment should hold a certificate of public liability insurance, which should be available on request. Please note that you will not be covered under the St Elizabeth Hospice Public Liability Insurance policy. Booking venues we as the Hospice are not liable for any cancellation fees if your event is cancelled. Charity statement and logo all publicity materials should state Supporting St Elizabeth Hospice, Registered Charity Number We can also supply our logo for you to use. Handling Money always make sure two people are present when counting cash and moving money. Consider how you will collect your money and keep it safe before you bank it or hand it in to the fundraising office. Photo consent try to make sure you get permission from anyone that you take a picture of. You will need permission from parents before taking photos of children, preferably written. We can provide forms. Split fundraising If money raised from your fundraising is to be split between different charities, please make that clear on any publicity material or literature you produce. St Elizabeth Hospice has its own fundraising agreement to help you - to obtain one please call the fundraising team on or fundraising@stelizabethhospice.org.uk
