6 Make $500 per Month Writing Articles and Short Reports When you start researching different ways to make money on the Internet, you'll find all kinds of different systems. Some work, some don't. Some are easy enough for almost anyone to implement while others need all kinds of specialized technical skills to be successful. Of all those methods, one of the simplest and easiest to implement is writing. And by writing, I don't mean writing the next best-selling novel, or some kind of "textbook" teaching all about some complicated topic. The type of writing I m talking about is easy to learn and can be done in just a few hours a week if that's all the time you can budget for it. There are several ways to earn money by writing, which we're going to go through in this report. Let's get started Content Is King One of the biggest clichés in Internet marketing is the phrase "Content is king." Basically, this means that no matter what else you might be doing on the internet, you're going to need content to be successful. If you build a website, it has to have content on it. How effective is a blank site going to be, even if you can manage to get people to visit it? If you run ads to send visitors to an offer of some sort, you'll need content on the page they wind up on - even if it's just information about the product or service. 7 Basically, anything you read, watch or hear on the internet is a form of content. And regardless of what new technologies bring, the written word is still by far the most predominant type of content. Because of this, lots of webmasters are always on the lookout for good content that they don't have to create themselves. This fact plays an important role in making money by writing articles, a role we'll get to shortly. Before we get into a more detailed look at how this all works, let's just something out of the way: You don't have to be an award-winning author to make this work. In fact, you don't even need to be much of a writer at all. It doesn't matter if you remember anything about grammar rules, spelling or anything else that you learned in high school English classes - none of that stuff is critical to this strategy. This type of writing is more conversational in nature - grammar rules aren't going to matter. At all. See? That last "sentence" wouldn't pass muster in Mr. MacDonald's English 10 class, but I'm willing to bet that you didn't even think twice about it. And if you're not going to win any spelling bees, don't worry - computers are very good at spell-checking things these days ;-) With that out of the way, let's get into the nuts and bolts of putting this into action. 8 One of the ways to earn money writing content is to promote products or services from companies that will pay you a commission on any sales you refer their way. This is known as affiliate marketing. You can write articles and post them to various places online, and include those affiliate links either in the article itself or in a short bio or "resource box" at the end of the article. Anyone who reads the article will potentially click on those links, and if they buy something you earn a commission. The article should be something that is closely related to what you're promoting through your affiliate link: A review of the product itself Tips & tricks for using the product How to do something manually that the product will help automate You can even write a more general article on a topic that is related to the product, but this won't be as effective. Let's look at an example of how this might work Let's say you're promoting a web hosting service for which you're an affiliate. You could write an article comparing that service to several other popular alternatives, explaining why you've chosen this one over the others. Or you could write something like "5 Things to Look For When Choosing Your Web Host." Give the reader useful information that they could use to help identify good hosting companies, but include a link to the one that you recommend (and checks off all five things, of course). 9 A free blog on WordPress or Blogger Squidoo, Hubpages or another service that lets you create web pages of your own Most of these are completely free to use, so even if you have absolutely no money to spend on getting started, you can still use this strategy. Your Own Website Your own website is the only one that will cost you something. If you want to have your own domain name (yourdomain.com) where people can find your website, it will cost you about $10 per year to register the domain. Note: Our preferred registrar is Namecheap.com Once you have a domain, you can either host your site for free on a service like Blogger.com or WordPress.com (be warned that this version of WordPress, hosted by WordPress, tends to frown on marketers) or you can sign up for web hosting through a company like HostGator.com for as little as $4 per month, and then you could install WordPress on your own domain name without any problems. Once you have your own website set up, you can post all your articles there. Ideally, you would want to focus on a particular market or niche rather than post all kinds of different unrelated things, but that can work too if you do it from the perspective of stuff that you're personally interested in. The advantage of posting the articles to your own website is that you're building an asset that you control. You don't have to worry about another service changing their rules or shutting down completely and potentially wiping out all the work you've done. Facebook Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 11

10 Facebook has a huge potential audience - over 900 million users at the time of writing this report. They have an advertising service that could potentially reach all those people (or any subset of them) but that's going to cost money. When you're first starting out, you may not have money to spend and even if you do, you'll probably want to get some experience under your belt before going down that road. Fortunately, there are ways to use Facebook as a venue for your articles absolutely free. The first is Facebook Notes. You can post "notes" on Facebook, which essentially means an article. You write your article and post it through your Facebook account, including links to the product or service you're recommending. All your Facebook friends will see your note in their news feeds, and if they "like" it all of their friends will see that in their feeds. Because of the way things can spread on Facebook, you can reach people who you have never actually met yourself. 11 This lets you separate your personal posts from the things you post to the page - a good strategy if you're writing about something that you don't necessarily want going through your personal news feed. Once you've created a Facebook Page, you can post notes to the page instead of your personal profile. The process works the same way, this just keeps it separate. The only "catch" here is that when you set up a Facebook Page, your friends aren't automatically added to the page as fans - they have to "like" the page. When you set up your page, you can send an announcement to your friends list (or just certain people on it) inviting them to become fans. You can also promote it in other ways to get followers: Add a signature to your so every message has a link to your page at the end Create a signature on any forums you're active on, with a link to your page Mention it on Twitter, Google+ and any other networks that you're active in Free Blogs There are quite a few free blogging services that let you create your own blog for no cost. Two of the more popular ones are Blogger.com and Blog.com. Both of these services will let you create your own website without any hosting costs or anything else. You can either choose to use the default domain and literally pay nothing for the service, or register your own domain and configure it to point to your free blog. The totally free option will give you an address like yourfreeblog.blog.com or yourfreeblog.blogspot.com. Paying for your own domain will give you something like Both can work equally well, but from your visitors' perspective, it's more professional looking to have your own domain name. 12 Once you set up your free blog, you can post your articles there - as often as you like. The process is really not much different from the first option, your own website, you're just using a free service instead. Just keep in mind the warning we already mentioned - using a free service like this puts you at the mercy of another company. If they change the rules, decide to start charging money or just shut it down, you could lose all the work you've done. Note: Another popular free blog hosting service is WordPress.com. They offer a very good service but their terms of service don't allow you to put affiliate links in your posts. If you have a website of your own, you can use WordPress.com to link people back to your site, but not directly to an affiliate promotion. Squidoo/Hubpages/Etc. There is a whole bunch of websites where you can create your own pages, on virtually any topic you want (some of these sites do limit certain topics, mainly adult-oriented stuff). You can create one or more of these pages, and you can post articles, videos, polls and various other things. These are perfect places to post your articles, along with your affiliate links, because they're always looking for high-quality content and because the websites are so big and well-regarded by Google and the other search engines, you will often get visitors who are searching for the topic you're writing about from those sources. Squidoo.com is one of the most widely-used of these sites, with HubPages.com being another popular one. One of the reasons these two are more popular is because they tend to get more traffic from the search engines than most of the lesser-used alternatives. 13 - DevHub.com - Weebly.com - Tumblr.com - Posterous.com - Blogsome.com - tblog.com - Blog.ca - Blurty.com - Terapad.com - Thoughts.com Some of these sites are more blog-oriented, similar to Blog.com and Blogger. But others let you build a much more interactive page, with polls, voting modules, comments and other such things. Writing Short Reports Writing short reports is a slightly different strategy from writing articles, and they can be combined for even better results. A short report is typically 2,500 to 5,000 words where the average article might be anywhere from 400 to 1,000. So they're not a great deal more work, but they can give you more leverage - and ultimately generate more revenue. A report will cover a topic in more detail than an article would, and as such you can include multiple affiliate links throughout the report. They might all be for the same product or service, or they might be for related offers that complement one another. These reports can cover the same sort of topics as your articles but in more detail, for example: Reviewing a product or service (or comparing multiple alternatives) Teaching the reader how to do something Give a more general overview of a topic, with recommendations to more specific training throughout the report Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 15

14 These reports can be posted directly to the web, where people can read them much like your articles or you can give them away from your website or another page, letting people download them to their own computer. There are a number of "document sharing" websites that will let you post longer content like this: Scribd.com Doxtop.com Yudu.com Gazhoo.com Docs.com Issuu.com Uploading your report to these sites makes it available to the public both through the sites themselves and through Google and other search engine referrals. The second way of using these reports is actually the more powerful of the two - giving them away from your own website. You can either give the report away freely, by just having it linked from your website for people to download or you can give it away in exchange for the reader giving you the ability to contact them - name & , liking your Facebook page, following your Twitter account, etc. Why would you want them to give you their contact information? Because it gives you the ability to contact them over and over again, which lets you do many things: them or send them a Tweet or Facebook message whenever you post a new article somewhere Send them affiliate promotions directly, without even needing to write an article Use your articles as the content of the or other messages you send them Share other interesting information that you come across on other websites Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 16

15 The point is that you can build a relationship with those people. If you provide value in the things you send them, they will not only look forward to hearing from you, they'll trust you. Which means when you send them a promotion of some sort, they're much more likely to take you up on it. Note: You don't necessarily have to create a website of your own to use this strategy. You can set up pages on sites like Squidoo to "deliver" your report to your readers and then simply refer people there. Just remember what we talked about already - building a website of your own gives you the ability to control your own destiny. You're not at the mercy of another service that might change something or go away suddenly. Supercharging Your Articles & Reports Once you have a web page where people can read or download your free report, you can combine the article publishing strategy with the report strategy for even better results. When you write a new article and post it somewhere, instead of simply linking to an affiliate offer of some sort, you can link to the page where the reader can download your free report. Make it clear in the article that you are giving them a free report if they visit the link. Knowing they're going to get something for free is more likely to get a click than knowing they're going to a page where they can buy something. Because the report gives you more opportunities for including links, getting the report into your readers' hands will give you more opportunities to earn a commission. And if you're giving it away in exchange for their contact information, this will help build your audience - known in marketing circles as your "list" - even faster. 16 A second strategy for combining the article and report strategies is to do exactly that - combine them. Once you've written a number of articles, there's no reason you can't take several of them and combine them into a longer report that you can then give away. Even if you're posting all your articles on the same site, chances are any given reader won't have read them all. Combining them into a report will let those people read more of your content, which naturally has more links included in it as well. Advertising Revenue Affiliate promotions are not the only way you can make money by writing articles and reports. Another effective way to do so is through advertising revenue. In other words, you earn money from advertising that is placed on the pages where you post your articles. This really works best if you build your own website, since you can control the ads and choose exactly what you want to show. Plus, you don t have to share the ad revenue with anyone else you keep 100% of it. The largest advertising network by far is Google Adsense. You've likely seen Adsense ads on various websites that you visit. They work with websites as small as one or two pages, right up to huge corporations with tens of thousands of pages on their sites. 17 The way Adsense works is they display ads from the Google Adwords advertising network, on your website. These ads are what is known as "contextual" ads - they will show ads based on the content of your website so they will be relevant to people who are reading your site. You don't have to do anything to make sure your ads are going to be of interest to your visitors. You simply add the Google Adsense code to your site, and the ads will show based on the topic of any given page. These ads are known as "pay per click" ads. Whenever someone clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser s website, that advertiser pays Google a certain amount of money. This "click cost" can vary from a few cents to $20 or more, depending on a number of factors. If a visitor to your website clicks on one of those ads, you earn a percentage of what the advertiser pays Google. How this percentage is calculated is a well-kept secret, and will vary depending on all kinds of factors, but it can range anywhere from a few cents to $10 or more (again depending on the market and various other factors). 18 The way you can make money through Adsense by writing articles is to simply post them on your own website, where you will also display Google ads. When someone comes to your website to read your article, they'll see the ads and hopefully something will be interesting enough for them to click on it. And keep this in mind, they don't have to actually buy anything after they click. The advertiser pays for the click, not a commission on a sale, so it makes no difference to you what happens after they click that ad. The click itself is where you earn your money. What if you don't want to build your own website yet? You can still use this strategy, it just won't pay as well. Some websites that let you build your own pages, such as Squidoo.com, will pay you a percentage of what they earn in advertising revenue on your pages. For example, if you build a page on Squidoo, they will display ads on that page. If someone clicks on one of the ads, they earn money just like you would if you were displaying Adsense on your own website. Squidoo then credits you with a percentage of what they earn, paying it out when you reach a certain threshold. In this situation you're earning a percentage of a percentage, making it harder to reach that $500 per month goal, but it can be a good way to get started with zero cost. You can always build your own website once you're a little more comfortable with the whole process, and maybe after you've earned enough to cover the costs involved. As we've already mentioned, "content is king" and there are always webmasters looking for high-quality content for their sites. Doing freelance writing is a good way to get started online because it's something that doesn't require any kind of specialized knowledge, or even a website or page on a hosting service like Squidoo. All you need is the ability to connect with other website owners, and offer them your services. There are a number of ways you can do this: Freelancing websites like Elance.com and odesk.com Public forums that allow you to post ads, such as WarriorForum.com Private forums where you can post offers, such as Earn1KaDay.com Contacting website owners directly and offering your services The easiest method to use when you're getting started is probably marketing through forums. You want to target forums that other internet marketers and website owners would frequent. The two listed above - the Warrior Forum and Earn1KaDay - are two of the most productive. Keep in mind that you don't necessarily have to write about internet marketing topics, in fact many of those website owners will want content on other topics. You're not targeting these forums because of the topic, you're targeting them because that's where your potential customers hang out. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 21

20 When you join one or more of these forums, take part and be an active member. You'll be much more likely to find writing clients if they recognize your name and feel like they "know" you through your interactions on the forum. It's really no different than networking with people in the "real world." Build relationships first and the client connections will come. Every forum has its own rules about what you can post, so make sure you read the rules & regulations before you start promoting your services. Most forums will allow you to add a signature that gets added to the end of every post you make automatically. In that signature, you can link to a post on the forum or a page somewhere else that has all the details about your writing services or you can even just include a brief outline in the signature itself and ask people to send you a message for more details. The best way to get started with freelance writing is with an introductory special. Offer a limited number of projects at a price that's so good that people can't pass it up. You won't make a lot of money this way, but you'll be able to get some good references from those initial clients (assuming you do a good job, of course!) Once you start to build a reputation, you can charge more because people will know that you're worth it. You'll also be building a client list, which is the single most valuable asset you can have. If you've written for people in the past and they were happy with your work, they are your best source of future work. They may come to you when they need more writing, or you can contact them when you have space in your schedule. How Much Do You Charge? Prices for freelance writing can vary anywhere from one cent per word ($5 for a 500 word article) and up. Website owners can find people who will write extremely cheap content fairly easily, but in many cases those writers are not very good. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 22

21 Website owners who are serious about providing high-quality content on their websites are going to be willing to pay more for good writing. Positioning yourself as a quality provider rather than a cheap provider is essential to making decent money as a writer. Your initial "get to know me" offer could be at the low end of the scale, say one cent per word. Just be sure to let your potential buyers know two things: 1. The price is not indicative of the quality. You write high-quality content and are offering such a low price strictly to build your reputation. 2. The price will not be ongoing, even for the initial buyers. You might want to consider offering them a discount from your "regular" prices if they take a chance on you when you're unproven, but never agree to future work at the same introductory price. If you have expertise in a particular subject, that can be another way to justify higher prices. Some writers will specialize in topics that they are experts in themselves. This has two benefits. From the buyer's perspective, it means their writing is higher quality because they can write with authority on the topic. And from the writer's perspective, it means they don't have to spend as much time on research and learning the topic, which ultimately means they can take on more work in the same amount of time. Selling Private Label Rights Another way that you can make money writing for other people is to sell what's known as PLR, or Private Label Rights content. Private label rights means that the buyers have the right to use the content as if it were their own - they can "private label" it. They can use it as provided, rewrite it in their own words, use it as research material for other projects or virtually anything else they want to do. 22 If you take on a writing project for a website owner, you get to charge them once for it and that's it. They hired you to write the content, which is known as a workfor-hire, so they hold the rights to it - you can't sell it to anyone else, and you can t even use it yourself after they ve paid for it. With private label rights, on the other hand, you can sell the same articles or report to multiple people. Which means that you get paid multiple times for work you only had to do once. If you sell PLR content, you'll typically charge less for it than if you wrote it exclusively for someone. But because you can sell multiple copies, you can actually make more money with it. For example, let's say you write five 500 word articles. If you sell them to a single website owner exclusively, you might charge 5 cents per word, or $25 each - $125 in total. If you sell PLR to those same five articles instead, you might charge $10 for all five - less than half a cent per word. If you sold 13 copies of your PLR article pack you would already have made more than selling them for much more per word to a single client. Finding 13 people to buy this type of content package is not difficult. If you post an ad on forums or put it out to your followers on Twitter and Facebook, you would most likely find quite a few more than that, putting considerably more profit in your pocket than working with a single client. You could even consider selling the 5 articles for $5. You would need 25 buyers to earn the same $125 as you got from a single client, but at that low a price it's very possible, and that s all assuming that you could successfully charge $125 for the 5 articles from the single client in the first place. 23 The last method we're going to discuss for making money with articles and reports takes a little bit more knowledge and skill, but can be a great way to make that $500 per month goal. This method involves building and selling turnkey websites. A "turnkey" website is basically a website that is ready to launch. The content is written, the pages are all posted to the site and it's ready to be promoted. The "grunt" work is already done and the buyer just needs to start getting traffic. Many people enjoy setting up new websites but find the ongoing promotion boring. Or they might just not like to focus on a particular topic for too long, preferring to move from one topic to another to keep things interesting. If that sounds like you, building turnkey websites might be a good fit. The biggest part of the process is writing the content for the website, which is how it fits into the article and report strategy. It will depend on the topic and how much time you want to spend on each site, but you can typically build sites with 10 to 15 articles and sell them quite easily. As with writing for other people, you will need to build a reputation to get your prices in line with what these sites are really worth, but once you have some experience you can sell sites like this in the $150 to $200 range. At that price, you only need to sell 3 or 4 per month to reach our $500 goal. You can break it down to building one of these sites every week. If you do that, you'll be on the right path to reach that $500 goal. And all the same things apply here as with writing for other people: You'll build a client list to whom you can sell future sites Start at a lower price to get some testimonials, then gradually raise your price to where you're happy with the ROI on your time You can multiply your profits by selling private label rights to these sites - selling to multiple people at a lower price Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 25

24 Earning $500 a Month as a Web Writer Writing articles is a great way to start making money on the internet. It has a low cost-of-entry (it can be done for no cost, in fact) and it doesn't take a lot of technical skills. Plus, as you do more of it you'll start to learn how many other aspects of internet marketing work. If you're writing for other people, you'll often get a glimpse into how they run their business. And if you're posting your own content to various places, you'll see how those websites operate. 25 How to Make $500 per Month on Fiverr Fiverr.com is a website where sellers offer to do various tasks, called Gigs, for five dollars each. It makes it easy for buyers and sellers to connect and Fiverr handles all the payment processing, so both sides are protected against getting scammed. It's a great site for both buyers and sellers but in this report we're going to focus primarily on using it as a seller. We will look at a couple of advanced strategies that you can use as a buyer, but first let's look at some of the ways you can make $500 per month selling on Fiverr. 4 Gigs a Day If you break it down by the numbers, you'll need to sell 125 gigs per month to make $500. You see, Fiverr keeps $1 out of every $5 gig as their fee; so 125 gigs will net you $500. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 27

26 That might sound like a lot, but if you break it down it's only about 4 gigs per day. Now, if you're performing a service of some kind, that means you need to do it four times a day on average, every day for a month. This is one of the reasons that a lot of people think Fiverr is not worth the effort. It seems like a lot of work to bring in that $500 if you look at it like this. Fortunately, you don't necessarily have to put in all that time every day, week after week, to earn the money. The secret to making some decent money on Fiverr without burning yourself out in the process is to offer gigs that give you leverage. For example, you might sell a report that teaches people how to do something for $5. Once you've written the report in the first place, the only time you need to spend is responding to your buyers on Fiverr and sending them the report. If you sold 4 per day, you could literally handle this in 10 minutes or less once you create a system for it. Let's look at a few ideas for gigs that you could offer that will give you this type of leverage. Quick & Easy Product Creation We already mentioned selling a report on Fiverr. You could write a report that teaches how to do something that you know how to do and others want to learn. This might be something technical like installing and configuring WordPress, a list of the top resources for people in your market or any number of other things. But you're hardly limited to reports. You could also offer videos, audio, PLR articles and many other things that Fiverr users would be interested in. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 28

27 For example, let s say you know how to use Photoshop to create simple header graphics. This is something that a lot of marketers need to do, so you could write a report or record a video showing them step-by-step instructions for doing it. You could even create a back end for your gigs by creating multiple formats. Note: A "back end" in the marketing world is other related products that you can offer your buyers once they've bought something from you. You might have a report and a video and sell them through two different gigs. Each one could recommend the other to your buyers, so someone who buys the report hears about the video and vice versa. Doing this would double your sales from a certain percentage of the people who buy your gig. These products don't have to be flashy or take a lot of time to produce. People are spending $5, and as long as the information is good and the presentation is acceptable, they're going to be happy. But even if it takes you a few hours to create one of these products, you can keep selling it indefinitely once it's done. The ROI (return on investment) on the time it took you to create it will get better and better over time. "Stock" Photos Stock photos are pictures that you can use for your own purposes without having to pay royalties to the photographer. They can be used on websites, in books, on brochures or any number of other places. Most stock photos are quite expensive though, particularly for small businesses and entrepreneurs who don't have big budgets to work with. You could take pictures around where you live, or in places you visit, and sell them on Fiverr for other people to use, royalty free. 28 And you don't have to be a professional photographer to do this. As long as you can get your camera in focus and have the slightest ability to frame the subject of the photo nicely, people will be interested. Website Graphics There are always marketers and webmasters in need of graphics for their websites: Header images Product graphics (ecovers, CD cases, etc.) Buttons, bullets, etc. If you have some skills with Photoshop or other similar software, or even if you have software that automates the creation of these types of images, you can sell them on Fiverr. This is obviously going to depend on how much time it takes you to create an image, but if you're fast enough you can make a decent hourly wage this way. Resell Software Services There are various software applications that will automate certain functions that many webmasters are always looking for. SENuke or other link generation tools, keyword research and various other applications can be "resold" to buyers on Fiverr. For example, if you have a subscription to SENuke, you could sell a basic link building service on Fiverr. Because the software automates a lot of the work, you don t have to spend a lot of time to do the work manually. These types of gigs can also be a good way to create a sales funnel that lets you make more money off of each Fiverr buyer - but we'll discuss that in more detail shortly. 29 Offering these services via Fiverr can also help fund the cost of using these types of applications yourself. You might not be able to justify the cost of them for your own use, but if you can resell the services it can pay for some or even all of the software cost, which means you get to use it yourself at a discount or even for "free". Anything That Takes You X Minutes If you want to offer a job for which you have to actually do the work each time, the best way to analyze it is to break it down into dollars per hour. For example, if you want to make $20 per hour for the gigs you're offering, you would shoot for tasks that take you about 10 minutes to complete. At 10 minutes per job, you could theoretically do six per hour, but there's going to be a little bit of time required to respond to your buyers and so on, so you can probably average about 5 of these tasks per hour. Because you pocket $4 out of every $5 gig, five gigs per hour will net you $20. Just adjust this accordingly for what you want to earn per hour, and then determine what kind of tasks you can realistically accomplish in that time. And as it happens, five gigs per hour is pretty close to what you need to do in order to earn $500 per month just for working an hour per day. Getting Ideas From Fiverr Itself Another good source of ideas for gigs that you can sell is Fiverr itself. There are two ways you can use the site to research ideas. The first is Fiverr's "Request Gigs" section. Fiverr lets buyers request a gig, and then shows a list of the recent requests on the home page of the site. You can scan through this list to see if there are any gigs that you're both capable of and willing to do for $5. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 31

30 Just be warned that some of the requests are a little crazy. For example, one of the requests listed as I write this is "Make an iphone application for our website." I don't think there are going to be a lot of takers for this job at only $5. But you can find gig requests that are a little more realistic, so it's a good place to watch for ideas. And keep in mind that if one person is looking for the job, chances are there will be other people who might also need the same thing. This can be a good place to find ideas for ongoing gigs. The second way to use Fiverr for research is to look for gigs currently being offered by other sellers that you are knowledgeable about, particularly gigs for which you could create a report or training video. This goes back to the quick & dirty product creation idea, but if people are currently paying $5 per job on Fiverr, it's quite likely some of them would pay $5 for a report or video showing them how to do it themselves. If they need the same job done on an ongoing basis, this can be a good investment for them. Pay you $5 once to learn to do it themselves compared to paying $5 per job to other sellers. Again, the time you put into creating the product is a one-time investment. You can keep selling that product as long as the information is valid. Promoting Your Gigs A big part of earning a decent income from Fiverr is promoting your gigs effectively. If all you do is post them to Fiverr and wait for the orders to roll in, you're probably going to be disappointed. There are likely a lot of sellers offering similar things, and your gigs can get lost in the flow - especially when you're new and don't have a lot of reviews yet. 31 Rather than take a passive approach, you should actively promote your gigs in as many places as possible. Here are a few of the promotional methods that can work quite well Facebook & Twitter If you have followers on these sites that would be interested in what you're offering on Fiverr, make sure you let them know about your gigs. And if you don't have followers who are interested, you should get out there and start networking more to find some. Don't overdo it - too much promotion and people will simply tune you out or unfollow/unfriend you. But as long as you're building good relationships and giving your followers value, throwing in the odd promotion isn't going to be a problem. And if you're offering good value for their five bucks, they're going to thank you for it. Plus, because you're connected with these people outside of Fiverr already, the Fiverr gigs can lead to more significant direct work. We'll discuss "going direct" in more detail shortly. Forums Forums are another place that you can promote your gigs. Most forums let you create a "signature" that gets added to the end of every post you make. If you put a link to your Fiverr gigs in that signature, every time you post something on the forum, that link will be included. This lets you interact with other people just like you always have - no hard selling required - but lets them see what you're offering. If you're a contributing member of the forum and have a good reputation, a certain number of people are going to click through on your link if it's something they're looking for. 32 Just make sure you check the rules of the forum before doing this. Every forum has its own rules and regulations and you want to make sure you don't contradict them somehow, even if it's unintentional. YouTube YouTube is another great place to promote your gigs. When you post videos, you can include a link in the description. As long as it's a bare link - something like - it will be "live" so people can click on it. It's best to put the link at the beginning of the description so it shows up even in the snippet of the description that gets shown by default. Create simple videos using a tool like Camtasia or Animoto.com and upload them to YouTube. Make them about a topic that is related to your gig so people who view them are more likely to be interested in what you're offering. Another tip for promoting via YouTube is to use a URL shortener like bit.ly to redirect people to your Fiverr gigs. This will shorten the link so it will definitely fit into the description without getting cut off. Fiverr Arbitrage Arbitrage essentially means buying something at one price and then turning around and selling it for more someplace else. So when we say Fiverr arbitrage, it means buying a service on Fiverr and then reselling that service to someone else outside of Fiverr. Let's look at a simple example. Let's say you are working with a local company to help them get more traffic to their website. One of the strategies you use might be press release submissions. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 34

33 Rather than doing the submission work yourself, you could buy a Fiverr gig that will submit the press release to a certain number of PR websites for $5, and charge the company you're working with a higher price. This is essentially a simple form of outsourcing. You could even take it a step further and not only hire someone on Fiverr to do the submissions, you could also hire someone to write the press release itself. The two gigs cost you $10, and you then charge your client a markup. You can easily sell these services for four or five times your cost, and often much more than that. Another way you can create arbitrage deals on Fiverr is to create packages from other gigs that you can turn around and sell through your own gigs. Let's use article writing as an example. You could hire five Fiverr sellers to each write one article about a particular topic, for a total cost of $25. You then create your own gig selling those five articles in a bundle for $5, giving your buyers "private label" rights - the right to use the article however they want. One dollar per article is a great deal for your buyers, and you only need to sell six gigs to make a profit. After that, every additional sale is pure profit for you. These bundling deals can be done with many types of Fiverr offers: Graphic creation Writing Audio recording Video creation etc. Setting Up A Sales Funnel Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 35

34 A sales funnel is a system that allows you to sell multiple offers to the same customers. You have some sort of low-cost, high-value offer that gets people into your funnel in the first place and once they're in your funnel you can promote other related offers to those same people. It's typically much easier to sell something to someone who has already bought from you in the past than it is to convince new customers to buy from you. Fiverr is a perfect front-end offer for your funnel because of the low cost. Let's look at an example of how this could work We'll use a report as the example for your Fiverr gig. You've written a report about how to do something that you're an expert about and you're selling it on Fiverr. When someone buys that report, the next step is to get them to sign up for your list so you can contact them directly. You might include a link to your blog or a website that offers more detailed information about the topic of the report within the report itself. That website could have an "opt-in" (subscription) box where your visitors can sign up to receive more information. Once they subscribe to your list, you'll be able to contact them directly without having to go through the Fiverr website. Note: This is a bit of a gray area. Fiverr's rules specifically say that buyers and sellers must only contact one another through the Fiverr website, and are not allowed to share contact information so they can deal directly and bypass Fiverr (which, of course, means Fiverr wouldn't get their 20% cut of the deal). You should never try to "go direct" within the communication you have with your buyers, but including a link in a report that leads to your website, where the visitor can sign up for your list, is keeping the contact at arm s length. You want to make sure that you're not forcing people to sign up for your list, and that you actually offer additional value when they visit your website. 35 from the perspective of how a reviewer from Fiverr itself would see the transaction between you and your buyer. This can be a powerful strategy, but you'll need to decide whether or not you're comfortable "bending" the rules this way. Use Fiverr as a Launching Point While you can easily keep offering your gigs through Fiverr indefinitely, it's a good idea to look at Fiverr as more of a launching point. You can build your reputation, get some reviews and testimonials from your buyers and test out different offers. But in most cases, the gigs that you're offering for $5 on Fiverr would sell for more than that elsewhere. Once you establish yourself, look for opportunities to sell your products and services in more profitable venues. Even if you only sell them for $10 instead of $5, you can double your profit from the same amount of work. And who wouldn't want to do that? Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 37

36 How to Make $500 per Month with Facebook & Twitter Facebook and Twitter are two of the fastest-growing and most popular social networks on the internet. Facebook alone has over 800 million daily active users, and 1.3 billion monthly active users at the time of this writing. That is a huge potential audience for any number of things that you can use to earn some extra money online. Twitter also has over half a billion users, again a huge potential audience. Now, obviously you're not going to be able to reach all those people, nor would you want to. But whatever subject you choose to pursue, chances are there are lots of people on both networks that will be interested in the topic. People who are active on these sites are really active. They log in daily (as mentioned above, over 800 million users log in at least once daily), often multiple times per day. That means you can create a very engaged audience, who you are able to reach virtually every day. These websites are simply the medium to reach people, however. Don't get caught in the trap of thinking there's some magic bullet that will let you make money just by being there. It's all about building relationships with real people and offering them something that's going to be of value to them. And don't worry if you're just getting started and don't have a lot of technical skills. There's really very few skills required, even less so than building a website of your own. Let's get started Facebook Pages A Facebook Page is probably the most effective way to earn an income with Facebook. 37 You can choose the type of page based on what your topic is going to be about, but for the purposes of the strategy we're going to cover in this report the best choice is Brand or Product. What we're going to do is set up a Facebook Page that's based on a specific brand or a general category of products. On that page, we're going to promote products as an affiliate as well as post other things that will be of interest to the people who become "fans" of the page. Ideally, you ll focus mostly on getting people to sign up for your list. From there, you can build relationships with them and market to them. You can sign up as an affiliate with literally thousands of companies. Once you sign up you get a special link that is coded for your account. Whenever someone clicks through on that link and winds up buying the product or service, the sale is credited to you and you earn a commission for the referral. This commission can range anywhere from a few cents to hundreds of dollars, depending on the market and the product(s) that you're promoting. For the strategy that we're outlining here, we're going to use Amazon.com to find products to promote. 38 That link will take you to the US Amazon site. If you're in another country and want to promote your local Amazon site instead (Amazon.ca or Amazon.co.uk for example) they normally have a link to the Associates Program towards the bottom of the home page. The reason we're going to focus on Amazon in this guide is because they sell many thousands of products in all kinds of different categories, so you have a huge catalog to choose from. Please make sure you read Amazon s rules and regulations when it comes to where you post your affiliate links. As a general rule, they prefer that you keep your affiliate links on your own web properties. That s why it s such a good idea to focus on building your list and marketing to them on your website rather than placing your links directly on your Facebook page. Just keep in mind that there are many other companies that offer affiliate programs, so you're not limited to Amazon. As you get more experience, or if you already have another alternative in mind, these strategies will work equally well for other vendors. Choosing Your Niche Once you've signed up for an Amazon affiliate account, the next step is decide on what types of products you want to promote to your fans and those who go on to join your list. If you already have a topic in mind, you can narrow down your search right away. But if you're not sure which of Amazon's departments you want to start in, there are a couple of resources that can help you decide. 39 This page shows you the top 100 sellers in each of the categories on Amazon's site. There are several ways to look at this information. The first tab, best sellers, will simply show you the products that are selling the best. Amazon also gives you several other lists on this page: Hot New Releases Movers & Shakers Top Rated Most Wished For Gift Ideas You can select the different sections by clicking on the tabs at the top of the page. The Hot New Releases list is particularly useful once you have your Facebook Page up and running, because it will give you a handy list of things that you can post about when they're new and interest is high. The second place that you can to get ideas for products and brands to promote used to be ebay Pulse, but ebay discontinued that page in Since then, a great service has appeared, called WatchCount: Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 41

40 WatchCount shows the most popular ebay items in real-time, as voted by ebay users. ebay continuously tracks votes (when users click "Add to Watch List") and WatchCount reports the results, revealing actual live Watch Counts (number of people watching), showing info and rankings you won't find on ebay itself. With unique search capabilities, WatchCount offers improved tools over the former ebay Pulse pages. Between these two resources, you shouldn't have any trouble finding ideas for things to promote. Setting Up Your Facebook Page Once you've got your niche picked out with some ideas for products to promote, the next step is to create a Facebook Page. Log into Facebook, and look for the "Create Page" link. Facebook keeps changing things around, it might not be in the same place when you look, but as I write this, it s in the left sidebar towards the top. After you click on the link to create your page, you'll see the six types of pages to choose from. Click on the "Brand or Product" box and you'll see this: Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 42

41 Choose the appropriate category for your page and then enter the product or brand in the second field: Check the box to accept the Facebook Page Terms (you should click through and read them first) and then click the Get Started button. Since Facebook is changing things constantly, you might not see the exact same sequence of events, and/or in the same format as pictured here, but the steps to set up your page will be fairly intuitive to follow. On the next screen, you can enter a short description for your page. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but you should enter something here. You can also enter a link to your website, your Twitter account or any other web pages you have that are related to the Page. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 43

42 This screen also lets you choose a unique address for your Facebook Page. This will be the address for your page, so try to come up with something that is easy-to-read, relevant to the topic and not too long. Be sure you like what you choose, and type it in carefully, because it can t be changed once selected. This step can take a bit of thought because the address you choose might already be taken by another page. If so, you ll have no choice but come up with another name. After trying several different combinations was available. Here's a tip that you might want to consider when figuring out your page's name Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 44

43 We're going to be using Twitter as part of this process as well. If you don't already have a Twitter account set up, or you want to create a new one specifically for this strategy, it can be helpful to find a name that is available on both Facebook and Twitter. It will probably take a little more thought, and you'll probably find some that are available on one and not the other, but having them the same can help "brand" you a little better. To check if a name is available on Twitter, you can use the following format for the URL: So in the case of our example, you would try If the name is already taken, you'll see that user's page with a list of their posts. If it isn't already taken, you'll see this: It was pure luck that the name I wound up choosing on Facebook was also available on Twitter. Don't be discouraged if that doesn't happen right away for you! Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 45

44 If you don't have a web address to enter here, don't worry - we'll add that later in the process. Once you've chosen your address, your page is up and running, but there are other steps that you can do to configure your page (if you don t want to do them right away, you can skip them for now.) The next screen lets you upload an image to use as the "cover" graphic for your page. You can just click Skip for now - you can add the image later. The first thing Facebook will prompt you to do after creating your page is to "Like" it. Don't do this yet. We want to get some content posted and finish setting up all the page information before liking it. When you like it all your friends will see that in their news feed. If they click through to check it out, you don't want the page to look like it's "under construction." The same goes for inviting your friends and contacts, which are the next things Facebook prompts you to do after skipping the like button. We'll do this later, once your page looks lived in. 45 Finally, you'll be prompted to share something. Feel free to post whatever you want here. It's not going to be seen by anyone right now, so something like "Getting started on my new page!" is fine. Filling In the Details Now that your Facebook Page is basically set up, it's time to fill in the details that we skipped over while creating it. The first thing you should do is to add a webpage (or multiple pages) to your profile. This can be your own website, a page that you've created on another website such as Squidoo.com or Hubpages.com or your Twitter address. If you have any pages already set up, you can go ahead and add them. If you don't, now is a good time to set up your account on Twitter. Go to Twitter.com and sign up - there's a spot right on the main page where you can sign up. After you enter your name, address and password you'll be able to choose your Twitter username on the next page. This is where you can enter the name you chose on Facebook if you want them to match. If not, choose whatever you want. You can use your name or you can use something that's related to the types of products you're going to focus on - it's up to you. 46 Once you choose your name, your Twitter account is created. Your Twitter URL will be: Using our example, the URL would be This is what you enter in your page settings. To add the details to your page, click on the Settings link near the top, then on Page Info, and then you ll see your settings, including Website Address: So click on edit for the Website field, then enter your Twitter URL in the spot provided, and click on Save Changes. The next thing we're going to update is the profile pictures. There are two images that you can add to your page - the profile picture and the timeline cover. The profile picture is the smaller of the two, and it's best to use an image that is related to the topic of your page. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 48

47 There are several places that you can find an image to use here: (free) (paid) search.creativecommons.org (free) Don't grab your image from Amazon or an image search like Google Images, even though it would be easier. Those images are copyrighted in most cases, and you don't want to use copyrighted images. While the owner may never notice that you're using it, it's still not a good idea. If you're ever caught, you could wind up losing any affiliate earnings that you have made - most affiliate programs will forfeit your earnings if you break their terms of service. The Timeline Cover image is a larger graphic. There are lots of free cover images available on the web - a simple Google search for "free timeline cover image" will get you lots of results. Once you've got your images uploaded and your profile information added, you're ready to start posting to the page - and finding fans! What to Post The goal of your Facebook Page is to earn $500 per month, so you're going to write promotional posts recommending various products from Amazon (or any other affiliate program you've chosen). But that's not all you're going to post. If all you post is links to stuff for sale, nobody is going to follow you for long. At least, they're not going to pay any attention to you even if they don't "un-like" your page. There's an old cliché that people are all tuned into the radio station WIIFM - What's In It For Me? 48 The people that like your page do so because they're interested in getting more information about whatever the topic is. So you need to give them what they want. Here's a little secret about Facebook - most of the people who use it do so for entertainment purposes. They may not always realize it, but it's really all about keeping entertained, whether through games, interacting with their friends, finding cool and interesting things, or whatever else they're looking for. You want to mix things up a bit. Post funny videos, cool news and other generalinterest stuff as well as things that are directly related to your topic. Keep your fans entertained, so they get used to reading what you post. That way, when you do write a promotional post, they're more likely to see it. This is important for two reasons: 1. You want your fans to get used to reading what you post, so they're sure to see the stuff that has the potential to make you money. 2. The more people read your posts, the more of your posts will show up in their news feeds. Facebook's algorithm adjusts the posts that show up in your feed based on the people and pages that you're most active with so it's kind of a snowball effect. Posting things that people are going to like will also help you reach new fans with your page. Whenever someone clicks like or shares one of your posts, the people in their network are going to see it. Some of those people might visit your page to see what it's all about, or they might share the post to their network, reaching more and more people beyond your own connections. Posting to your page is no different than posting to Facebook through your own profile. Just visit the page and post in the update box at the top of the page. When you post from your page, the post will automatically be made from the page rather than from your personal profile. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 50

49 Getting Fans This strategy is completely based on reaching fans with your page, so you're obviously going to have to get people to like the page. Otherwise you'll be the only one reading your posts! There are several ways you can do this without spending a dime. First, you can invite any or all of your friends to visit and like the page. Just click on the Build Audience link at the top right of your page. You can then invite friends and/or contacts. Inviting friends will send an invite to your friends on Facebook itself. You can choose to send it to all of them or you can pick and choose certain people only. Invite contacts will grab all your contacts from Gmail, Yahoo Mail and other such services, and send them all an inviting them to your page. Second, you can interact with other pages and people who are about the same or related topics. To do this effectively, you need to switch to be using Facebook as your page instead of your personal profile. Normally when you are viewing your page, you ll be posting as your page name, and Facebook will remind you with a message at the top: Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 51

50 If you like a post, it shows that your page liked it. If you share something, it shows that your page shared it. Just remember to switch back to using Facebook as yourself when you re done, otherwise people are going to wonder why they re getting responses from a page instead of you! Then just search for things related to your page Product names Brand names General subjects People Like other pages, comments on other posts, like and share other posts - basically, do things that other people will notice. Some of those people will visit (and like) your page, and become part of your network. This is why Facebook is known as a "social" network. It's all about being social and networking with other people, just like you would do if you were meeting people in "real" life. As your network grows, it tends to accelerate and take on a life of its own because of the "viral" nature of Facebook. As more people become fans and start to interact with you, their extended networks will see it in their feeds, and some of those people will then become fans. And so on. 51 Of course, there are other ways to get fans as well. The next method we're going to use is Twitter. Building A Network On Twitter Building your network on Twitter is similar in many ways to doing it on Facebook. It's all about being social - responding to people, following them, commenting on their posts and so on. When you first join Twitter, you won't have any followers. You can let your friends and family know that you've joined if you want, but that will only get you so far. The best way to build a network is to look for other people who are posting - known as "Tweeting" - about similar subjects to your niche. Just do some searches on Twitter for things that will help you find those people: Product names Brand names People Market-related keywords When you find people, follow them and start interacting with them. It doesn't take a huge amount of time - just reply to some of their tweets when you have something to say (even if it's just to say thanks for something interesting). You can even send them things that you think they might be interested in. When you post something on Twitter, you can send it to someone by in your post. For example, you could post something like Thought you might be interested in this - <LINK> All your followers can see these messages, but the people you "@" with them will be notified that you sent it to them. 52 You can send direct messages as well, which are private, but the person has to be following you before you can "DM" them. If you're trying to connect with someone, they probably aren't following you (yet!) so sending the message will work better. Fitting Twitter into This Strategy There are two ways you can use Twitter as part of this strategy: 1. Post your affiliate links directly to Twitter (only if this is okay with your affiliate company) 2. Refer people back to your Facebook Page The fact is, using a combination of the two is going to be the most effective. Posting links on Twitter will target people who may only be following you there, but referring them to your Facebook Page will help grow your network there - increasing your chances of being noticed. Just remember to take the same approach with Twitter as you do with Facebook - post lots of different things that will appeal to your followers, not just promotional stuff. Getting Fans through Forums Forums are another good source of fans for your page. Virtually any topic that you might be writing about will have several popular forums where people talk about the topic and all sorts of related stuff. You can find these forums by searching in Google for things like: <market keyword> forum <product name> forum <brand name> forum Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 54

53 Once you find a couple of forums that are active - lots of posts, and recent posts - join and start to take part yourself. Post interesting stuff, answer questions, ask questions of your own and so on. (Are you starting to see a pattern here? This is all about building relationships with people.) One thing is a little different about forums than Twitter and Facebook - you're not going to post promotional stuff directly. Most forums frown on this, and many have rules specifically not allowing it. But most forums will let you create a "signature" that gets added to the end of every post you make automatically. And they usually let you include a link to your website or some other page. This is where you can put a link to your Facebook Page. All you need to do is create a signature something like this: Come and check out my Facebook Page about <topic> - It doesn't have to be fancy. If you're an active member of the forum and people start getting to know you, some of them will click the link and become fans of your page. Note: Make sure you check the rules of the forum before you do this. Every forum is a little different, and you don't want to break the rules. It's a good idea to wait for a bit before you add your signature, so people can get to know you a bit first. If you add your signature immediately, it will look like that's the reason you're there - not to be part of the community. Posting Your Affiliate Links When you post your affiliate links, don't treat them like a sales pitch. As we already discussed, people use Facebook and Twitter to be entertained as much as anything. 54 If your post sounds like a late-night infomercial (But Wait, There s More!) it's probably not going to get much in the way of results. Instead, make the posts sound like you've found something cool and you're just sharing it with your fans. Again, that s why it s so ideal to have an opt-in form set up, giving something away for free on your website. You can link your Facebook and Twitter fans right to your list. That way, you can market to them and build a relationship with much higher earnings. Using our ebook reader example, I might post something like this: I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about pulling the trigger and ordering one of these - <LINK> Note that you may need to set this link up so it s coming from your website and not a direct affiliate link. It really depends on which affiliate network you are working with. The link would be an affiliate link to something like the Kindle Fire ebook reader. When your fans see something like that, they'll click on the link to see what you're talking about. If it catches their attention after they click through, they might wind up buying one - generating a commission for you. The same approach works on Twitter as well. Just keep in mind that Twitter has a 140-character limit for your posts, so you might need to a little more succinct than you are on Facebook. Expansion One Facebook Page can bring in $500 or more per month, but chances are you're not going to hit that mark with your first page. Some topics will be more popular than others, and sometimes it can even depend on the time of year. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 56

55 For example, a page about costumes is probably going to do a lot better in September and October than it would in April or May. The best way to improve your odds of success is to build pages on multiple topics, in various markets. You could even build some pages that are seasonal - costumes, Christmas decorations, etc. You can build as many pages as you want, and once they're set up it's really just a matter of posting to them on a reasonable schedule. You're obviously going to have a limit on how many you can manage, from a pure time perspective, but you can manage quite a few in just a few hours a week. If you really want to accelerate your growth, you can even choose topics that complement one another and then work on cross-promoting the pages. Comment on one page while using Facebook as another, so that page's fans are exposed to the second page. Share links from one page to another. Your pages' fans don't see who the Page Admin is so they won't necessarily realize that the same person is managing all the pages. Facebook Notes Another technique that you can add into the mix is writing longer posts as Facebook Notes. Instead of posting a short update, you can write longer articles, such as a review of a product you're promoting. Notes can include links, so you can put your affiliate link right inside the article itself. You can post a link to the note on your page to get it in front of your audience, but these types of posts have another benefit - they get picked up by Google and other search engines and can get traffic from people searching for your topic. When someone searches for something in Google, a result that is on Facebook.com will often get more clicks than a result on some website they ve never heard of before. Just the fact that it s on Facebook gives it a certain level of trust. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 57

56 Plus, you get the viral effect we've already discussed. If those people who find your note via the search engines click the like button, that goes out to all the people in their network, some of them might wind up liking the page, and so on. To access Facebook Notes, go to your profile, and below your cover photo there is a tab titled More so use it to click More > Notes. If you don't see Notes, click More > Manage Sections and then check the box next to Notes. You can also search for "Notes" in the search bar at the top of the page, and then on the resulting page, click on My Notes. Earning $500 a Month with This Strategy This strategy is relatively easy for anyone to undertake, even if you know nothing about building a web site of your own. As long as you know the basics of how to use Facebook, you can do this. But over the long term, it's a good idea to build your own web site and start to use Facebook to send traffic there. Facebook is a huge website with nearly a billion users, but the bottom line is that it's controlled by someone else. If they decide to change something on the site or change the rules about what you're allowed to do with your pages there, you don't have much recourse. Building your own website puts the control back in your own hands. So take advantage of all the power Facebook gives you, but don't rest on your laurels. 57 How to Make $500 per Month as an Affiliate Affiliate marketing is one of the most common ways that people make money online. There are a virtually unlimited number of products and services that you can promote and earn commissions on, so whatever market or niche you're working in, chances are you can find affiliate offers. Taking a step back for a moment, the way affiliate marketing works is you (the affiliate) recommend a product from a merchant, such as Amazon for example. If someone clicks through to buy the product using your special link, you will get credited for the sale and earn a commission. These commissions can vary from a few cents to hundreds of dollars per sale, depending on the merchant, the cost of the product, the market you're working in and various other factors. In many ways, it's very similar to working as a commissioned sales person for the vendor, except you can promote the products in many different ways, through whatever method is best suited for your particular situation. And, you're a completely independent affiliate, of course, so you don't have to worry about working certain hours, showing up at an office for weekly sales meetings or anything else that would go along with a traditional "sales" job :-) In this report, we're going to look at several strategies that you can use to earn $500 per month (or more) as an affiliate marketer. Then we're going to lay out a step-by-step action plan that you could either follow directly or tweak as you see fit. Let's dig in What Can You Promote? There are literally tens of thousands of things that you can promote as an affiliate. 58 One of the most popular affiliate programs is Amazon.com, where you can earn a commission on virtually everything they sell. Whether you're recommending a book that you read or anything else in their massive product catalog, you can get paid for referring sales to them. Of course, there are many other alternatives to Amazon as well. Some of these other programs, such as ebay, offer a wide range of products to promote while others are focused on specific products or services, such as website hosting. If you already have a website, chances are you can find affiliate offers that will appeal to your audience. And if you don't already have a website and are looking for ideas for niches that you can work in, you can choose from hundreds of options. How Much Can You Earn? 59 This is a question that can't be answered easily. Some products will pay just a few cents on each sale, requiring a lot of referrals to reach the $500 per month mark. Other offers might earn you that $500 with a single sale. Rather than asking how much you can make, the better way to look at it is what you need to do to earn $500 per month. The best way to determine this is to calculate how many of something you would need to "sell" each month in order to generate that $500. If the product you're recommending pays you a $50 commission, you would need to refer 10 sales to earn $500. If it pays 50 cents per sale, you would need to refer 1,000 sales. Once you have some idea of how many sales you need to make every month, you can start to design a plan for reaching that goal. Let's look at a simple example Let's say you have a blog where you write about woodworking. There are lots of different things you could promote that would appeal to readers in this market: Project plans Tools Books Instructional DVDs Specialty wood suppliers Project plans and books would typically pay out up to about $1 per sale based on the relatively low prices. Tools, on the other hand, could pay out much more. If you referred a sale for a $1,000 tool, you might earn $75 to $100 in affiliate commission. Let's say you choose to promote tools, because of the higher payout. If you earn an average of $75 per sale, you need 7 sales to reach (and slightly surpass) your goal. That doesn't sound like many sales, but something to keep in mind is that higher priced products don't sell as easily, since there is a higher investment required on Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 61

60 the part of the buyer. Even though you don't earn as much per sale, you might earn more by promoting a lower cost product. We're going to look at some strategies for determining what the most profitable option is shortly. Keep in mind that this is just one example. You can find offers related to virtually any topic - we've included a list of places to look for these offers at the end of this section. How to Promote Affiliate Offers There are various ways to promote affiliate offers: Via your website Through social media like Facebook and Twitter Classified ads (both online and in print) Purpose-built websites If you already have a website, you can promote affiliate offers through the site itself, through your newsletter if you have one, via your Facebook Page and so on. In this case, you would want to go looking for affiliate offers that would appeal to your audience. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter can be used in conjunction with a website or they can be used completely on their own. If you have a reasonable following on either or both of them, and you've built good relationships with your followers, you can post short promotions along with your affiliate link and generate referrals from there. In both of these cases, one of the most effective ways to promote these offers is to review products or services that would be of interest to your audience. Ideally these would be things that you've bought and used yourself so you can talk about them with some authority. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 62

61 Classified ads are another effective way to promote affiliate offers, both through online ads and through traditional classified ads in print newspapers and magazines. While you can find free classified websites and sometimes even free print classifieds, this method will typically cost you something to place the ads. There are a couple of ways you can approach this strategy. Number one, you can simply link directly to the offer that you're promoting. This is known as "direct linking." For example, if you were promoting a product on Amazon.com, you would simply link the ad directly to the product page on Amazon. Anyone clicking through on the ad would wind up on that page immediately. Number two, you can link to a page on your own website where you offer the visitor a review, more information about the product or something else that adds value above and beyond the product page itself. You would then link to the product's page from within the content on your own website. Both these methods will work, but you'll often find that sending the visitor to your own website and giving them more information about the product will be more effective. If they know what they're looking for, it's quite likely they would simply go directly to the product's website in the first place. But if you offer something else of value, they will often visit your site first to see what you have to say. Note: Some affiliate programs do not allow direct linking - make sure you read the terms and conditions of any program you sign up for before trying this strategy. Purpose-built websites aren't that different from promoting through your own existing website. You will still offer similar things - reviews, tips & tricks for using the products, etc. - but you do so on a website that you build specifically for this purpose. The website will contain information that is specifically about the product(s) that you're promoting, and it will be built in such a way that everything points your Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 63

62 visitors towards your ultimate goal - getting them to purchase the product(s) you're promoting. We're going to look at this particular strategy in detail in the step-by-step action plan at the end of this section. Multiplying Your Results If you want to earn $500 per month as an affiliate, there are some "shortcuts" that will help you reach that goal faster. Recurring Commissions One of the best ways to increase your affiliate commissions is to promote recurring offers. A recurring offer is something that gets billed over and over again, such as a membership website like Earn1KaDay.com. If you were to promote the Earn1KaDay website and referred a new member, you would get paid a commission every month that they continued to be a member, even though you wouldn't have to do any more work to earn those future commissions. By promoting recurring offers, you earn this "passive" income - income you don't have to do any work for - as well as additional income by continuing to find new people to refer. Using Earn1KaDay as an example, you earn approximately $33 per month for any new members that you refer. Say you refer one new member per month, a pretty Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 64

63 conservative number. In the first month you would earn $33, the second month $66, the third month $99 and so on. After 10 months has passed, you could be earning an excellent income each month even though you only referred one person in that particular month. This is a simplified example, obviously - not all the people you refer are going to remain members forever. But it shows you how recurring income can really add up without requiring any additional work on your part. High-Paying vs Low-Paying Offers One of the choices you have that can have a significant effect on your income is whether to promote high-paying or low-paying products. That doesn't mean choosing between two suppliers for the same thing, one paying more than the other. It means a higher-cost, higher-paying item versus a lower-cost, lower-paying item. If you can earn $100 per referral it's going to take a lot less of them to reach your $500 goal than if you're only earning $1. But the purchase cost is also going to be significantly higher, which means less people will buy it on your referral. Which way to go comes down to testing and tracking. Testing & Tracking This sounds like a complicated process but it's really not. What you want to do is test different promotions and track how well each of them does to find the one that is more profitable for you. You might just find that the lower paying alternative actually earns you more money in the long run. For example, let's say you test two promotions - one that sells for $100 and pays you $10 in commission and one that sells for $10 and pays you $1. You recommend the $100 product for one month and refer 20 sales, which generates $200 in Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 65

64 commissions. Then you recommend the $10 product for one month and refer 250 sales, generating $250 in commissions. In this hypothetical case, the $10 product would be more profitable for you even though it pays less per sale. Focusing on higher-paying offers can be a good way to earn more, but it's not always a given that you'll earn more this way. Always test different offers to see what works the best. Two-Tier Promotions Another way you can earn more income from affiliate commissions without having to do any more work is to promote "two-tier" offers. Two-tier means that you get paid a commission on any referrals you make, but you also get paid a smaller percentage of any referrals made by the people you refer. For example, if you refer Sam to a product and he buys it, and then likes it enough to become an affiliate himself, you would earn a smaller percentage of any sales he refers in a two-tier program. These programs are not as common, and you won't find them in every market, but it's worth looking to see if you can find one in yours. If you happen to refer someone who becomes a successful affiliate, that second tier of commission can add up quite nicely - and you won't have to spend one minute more to get it. Increasing Your Profits with Backend Offers This is a bit more of an "advanced" strategy, but it works extremely well so I want to at least give you an overview of how it works. A "backend" offer is an offer that you make to people after they purchase something, sign up to receive from you, "like" your Facebook Fan Page or take some other action that gives you the ability to communicate with them on an ongoing basis. 65 This is one of the more powerful techniques in affiliate marketing, because it gives you the ability to promote multiple offers to the same people. If you build a website that refers them on to the affiliate offer, or run an ad that does the same, once they've clicked through on that offer you may never "see" them again. Sure, you might earn a commission from their purchase, but you have to keep finding new people to refer in order to continue earning income as an affiliate. When you build what is known as a "list" - a group of subscribers to your , a group of Facebook Fans or any other method of communication - you're able to communicate with the same people multiple times. This lets you build a relationship with those people, so when you do promote something to them they're going to be more likely to listen to what you have to say. Let's look at a simple outline of how you can implement this strategy. First, you'll need something to give to people who sign up for your list, become fans on Facebook and so on. One of the most effective things you can give them is a short report about a topic that's highly relevant to the product you're promoting. For example, if you were promoting a web hosting service you might give away a report called "The 5 Biggest Web Hosting Mistakes - And How To Avoid Them." The report contains information that helps the reader make a better choice about what product to buy. And you include links to the product(s) that you're promoting within the report itself. As they read the report, they'll be presented with links to the product that you are recommending for them, and if they click one of those links and ultimately purchase, you'll earn the affiliate commission. 66 This strategy will work with other types of giveaways - videos, audio, etc. - but the big advantage a report offers is the ability to include those links right within the report itself so people can easily click through. You would give this report away in exchange for your visitor's contact information. That might mean they sign up for your list to get the free report, or it might mean they have to "Like" your Facebook Page to get it. The goal is to connect with them in some way that allows you to contact them again. Once you've got that connection, you can send them more helpful information about the topic - links to useful articles on other websites, links to your own website, additional reports, etc. Plus, you can send them more promotions, of course. The key to making this strategy work well is to focus more on giving your readers value than on promoting things. If all you ever send them is promotions for more stuff, they're not going to listen to you for very long. But if you give them a lot of valuable information about the topic that they're interested in, they're going to learn to look forward to hearing from you. When you do send a promotion, they're a lot more likely to take a look at it because they trust your opinion. Multiplying Your Backend Results Finally, let's look at a way that you can combine the last two sections - multiplying your results and creating a strong backend sales funnel - to get even more powerful results. If you're giving away a report or some other type of content, chances are good that some of the people who sign up to receive it are going to pass it along to other people they know. 67 Rather than worry about "missing out" on getting the people it's passed along to on your list, look at this as an opportunity to multiply your profits. You see, if you include affiliate links in whatever it is you're giving away, those links will always stay with it when it gets passed along. So that person who got it without having to join your list will still be a potential referral for you as an affiliate. Why not actively tell people to share the content you've given them for free? Include a brief note inside the report (or whatever format you're using) telling your readers that they're free to share it with anyone they want if they find it useful. This is known as "viral" content. The people who sign up to receive it directly from you can share it with their friends, those people can share it with their friends and so on. It can spread far beyond the people you yourself are able to reach, and this effect doesn't cost you anything. But all those people receiving the content are also receiving your affiliate links, which gives you a much greater chance of earning a commission. One extremely successful example of this is the Hotmail service. Back in 1996, was pretty new to most people. Hotmail launched a free service, which was completely unheard of at the time. It was free to use, the only "catch" being that it added a line to the end of every message sent that said something along the lines of, "Sent via Hotmail. Get your own free address at Hotmail.com." Everybody who received a message from someone using Hotmail saw that and could sign up for their own free address. It didn't take long for it to "go viral" and Hotmail wound up getting bought by Microsoft for a reported $400 million. That's the kind of power you get with viral marketing! Step-By-Step Action Plan Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 69

68 In this section, we're going to look at an action plan that you can use to get started with affiliate marketing. This strategy doesn't require a lot of technical knowledge, but you will need to either learn how to do a few simple things or find someone that can do it for you. Where specific skills are required, we'll provide recommendations for some training that can help you learn those skills. This training isn't required, it's simply offered in case you need to learn some new skills to put this into action. And it should be noted that while this strategy has been proven to work by many people from various walks of life, there's no guarantee that you will see the same results. There are a lot of variables involved in this business and sometimes you need to make several attempts, adjusting course slightly as you gain experience, to find success. Don't get discouraged if your first attempt isn't the success you hope it is. Keep at it, learn from experience, and you will be successful. The strategy we're going to use for this action plan is to build a purposebuilt website where you can promote your affiliate offers. Market Research There are literally tens of thousands of markets that you can choose from when deciding on a topic for your website and product(s) to promote. For your first project, it's often best to stick with a topic that you have an interest in yourself. You're going to be creating content for your own website, posting in forums and doing other things that will be centered on the topic. If you pick something purely because you think it can make money, and don't have any interest in it yourself, it can become a grind to have to deal with it. Better to choose something that you enjoy, at least for the first project or two, so you can have some fun while getting experience. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 70

69 It's even better to pick a topic that you know something about so you'll be able to write about it, but if it's something you're interested in learning more about that's okay too. If you're having trouble coming up with ideas for a market, try one of these ideas: 1. Go to your local newsstand or bookstore and browse through the magazine section. Look for topics that would be interesting for you to create a website around. If there is a magazine in the market, chances are there are plenty of people interested in it. Magazines aren't cheap to publish, so they're a good indicator of market potential. 2. Browse through the various departments on Amazon.com and look for ideas there. You can use the Amazon Top Sellers page to find their best sellers in various departments, as well as several other lists - top rated, most wished for, hot new releases, etc. Once you find something you think would be a good topic, you're not ready to start building your website just yet. First, we need to check and make sure the market is a good "buyer" market. You want to be sure that you're choosing a topic in which people are actually spending money. The two market identification techniques (magazines, Amazon) will help narrow this down right from the outset, but next you want to check and see whether other people are advertising for it in Google. 70 If there are advertisers in a market, it's a good sign that there is money being spent. Advertisers won't spend money if they're not making a profit from it, at least not for long. The next step is to use Google's keyword tool to get some ideas for "keywords" in the market - things that people are searching for on Google. The keyword tool can be found at Enter a general keyword for the market as shown below and click the "search" button. Let's work through an example. Say your research in the bookstore found the magazine "Cigar Aficionado" and you're thinking of targeting people who enjoy smoking cigars. Amazon has lots of products that are related - humidors, books, cutters, etc. - so there's opportunity there. When we run the word "cigar" through Google's keyword tool, this is what we get: Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 72

71 We want to order the list by the most popular, so click on the "Avg. Monthly Searches" title at the top of the third column. Now here's what we see: Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 73

72 The next step in this process is to check some of these keywords (from column 2 above) to see how many people are advertising on Google. So we go to Google.com and search for several of the keywords supplied by the keyword tool. What you're looking for on Google are paid ads - the "Sponsored Ads" at the top and right side of the results. Here's the results we get for the above keywords at the time this report was written: Cigar Smoking: 0 ads Shop Cigars: 1 ad Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 74

73 Cigar Pipe: 0 ads Best Cigars: 0 ads Cigar Humidor: 3 ads This doesn t look like a great market to target based on those numbers, but one thing that you need to consider is that Google displays different results depending on where you re located. This can have a bearing on how many results you see. If you don t see many ads for something, you can change the location from the main Google search results page. Click on the Show search tools link and then the Custom Location link. You can enter a city or country in this box to see results from that specific place. Another problem you might run into is if you re not located in the United States, Google will default to your local version of Google. For example, in Canada, you ll default to Google.ca when you run a search. This can skew your results because you re going to see results that are more targeted to that country. If you want to see results from the United States instead, you can use this URL to run your Google search: Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 75

74 If you find a topic like this example that doesn t have a lot of ads, and you find more by changing locations, it s up to you whether or not to continue with it. Personally, I would move on to another alternative and run through the same process until you find one that has more advertisers in general. There s no sense limiting your potential right out of the gate. For comparison's sake, I've run the "golf" market through the Google keyword tool and wound up with the following keywords: Golf clubs: 11 ads Golf equipment: 8 ads Golf bag: 1 ad Golf shoes: 2 ads Golf instruction: 2 ads You can see there are more ads here so this is a more suitable market. Setting Up Your Website Once you've picked your market and found a few products that you can promote, it's time to set up your website. There are several steps involved in this process, the first of which is to register your domain name - the address for your website. Domain Name For these purpose-built websites, the best option for a domain name is what's known as an "exact match domain" - a domain that is the same as one of the keywords for your market. For this step, you're going to need to go back to the Google Keyword Tool and make a list of potential domain names. We want to find keywords that aren't too competitive but are still relevant to the topic and types of products you're going to promote. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 76

75 The keyword tool lets you narrow down your search by filtering the results. First, click on Keyword Filters on the left hand side. Next, under "Filter Ideas" choose Competition on the dropdown list and check Low and Medium, and for Average monthly searches choose <= searches: Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 77

76 This will narrow down the search to keywords that have low to medium competition and somewhere fewer than 10,000 searches every month. This will give you a list of keywords that have relatively low competition but still get enough searches to make it worth pursuing. Take note of any keywords in the results you get that would make a good domain. Avoid keywords with things like city names, brand names or anything else that is obviously specific to a place, person, event or other things. You also want to avoid brand names because they are usually trademarked and you could wind up in legal trouble if you use a trademark in your domain name. 77 You can search up to 50 domains at a time. Take the list of keywords you came up with and copy and paste them into the search box. The only catch here is you will need to remove all the spaces first, since you can't have a space in a domain name. So instead of "golf drivers reviews" you would have "golfdriversreviews.com". Click on Search these extensions and then go down to the bottom of the page, and click on check all and then uncheck all and then come back up and select.com,.net, and.org. We don t want to consider any other extension. It's not always going to be this easy to find a perfect domain name, but it s worth the effort. Sometimes you will find none of your potential domains are available and you have to do some more digging - but it's surprising how often you'll find these "hidden gems" right off the bat. If you can find a.com available, that s best, but you could consider.net and.org names also if worst comes to worst. If none of the domains are available, it's better to go back to the keyword tool and do some more digging than to choose a less-effective extension that might be available. 78 Hosting Once you have your domain name picked out and registered it's time to sign up for a hosting account. This is where your website will "live" on the internet. Think of the domain name as your address, the hosting as your plot of land and the website as the house you build on that land. There are all kinds of hosting plans, varying from a couple of dollars a month to thousands of dollar a month. You don't need a big plan to get started, but you also want to make sure you don't go so cheap that you run into trouble as your website gets some traction in the market. We recommend HostGator as a good entry-level host. If you're planning to set up multiple websites (or even if you aren t yet), or already have the need for more than one, their Baby plan is a better option at a little under $8 per month at the time of this writing. It lets you set up multiple websites through a single account. One of the advantages of HostGator is the fact that they have various levels of hosting plans so you can easily upgrade to a higher plan as your needs grow. Choose the plan that's right for you now, with some room to grow if you already know you'll need it, but there's no need to get more than necessary - you can make that change when the need arises. Note: When you sign up for a hosting account, HostGator gives you the option to register your domain name with them. It's not a good idea to register your domain with your web host simply because if something ever goes wrong, they control everything. By using a separate registrar like Namecheap, you can easily redirect your website to a new host if necessary, without worrying about it being locked up by the host you're transferring away from. 79 Once you have your domain registered and your hosting set up, it's time to get your website started. The first thing you'll need to decide is what platform you want to use to build it. There are various ways to build websites. You can use software like Dreamweaver or NVu which are "WYSIWYG" (what you see is what you get) programs that run on your computer. Creating a website this way is similar to creating a document in MS Word. You lay everything out on your computer, type all the content into the site on your computer and make all changes locally. The software will then upload the website to your hosting service so people can access it via the internet. Or you can use a "CMS" (content management system) like WordPress to build your site. A CMS handles all the layout and structure of your site - all you need to worry about is the content of the site. You simply type the content into the CMS, much like you would enter it in a word processor, and when you post it the layout and everything else gets applied automatically. WordPress is our preferred platform, for a couple of reasons. First, it handles all the layout and design stuff so you don't have to think too much about it. And if you ever want to change the design of your site, it's as simple as loading a different theme - all your existing pages will be changed automatically. Doing a redesign in something like Dreamweaver means you need to update every page manually. The second reason we recommend WordPress is that it creates websites that are more effective for getting ranked in Google and the other search engines. This can help you get more traffic compared to designing your site by hand. Setting up WordPress is not difficult, but it goes beyond the scope of this report. There are lots of tutorials available online - a simple Google or Youtube search will find plenty, and your hosting provider will also normally have tutorials for you. Site Structure Site structure is something you don't need to spend too much time worrying about, but there are a couple of things that you should be sure to do. Arrow Money Making Like a BossPage 81

80 First, you should have a "Contact Us" page on your website. It doesn't have to be fancy - just a page that tells your visitors how they can get in touch with you. It could be a form-based system, where they fill out a form and the message gets ed to you, or it could simply provide your address. The second thing you should have on your site is a privacy policy page. This is especially true if you're collecting contact information to communicate with your visitors, whether via , Facebook or some other method. But it's also important even without those things because you may be doing other things that have a bearing on privacy, such as using affiliate advertising that places cookies on your visitors' computers. Lastly, you should include some sort of "About This Site" page where you give your visitors a brief introduction to the site, what its goals are, and so on. These three pages are important from your visitors' perspective, but they're also important from Google's and other search engines' perspectives. They will help build your "trust" score with the search engines, which can ultimately help generate more traffic to your site. Site Content The content you add to your website is ultimately what's going to convince your visitors to take action - in other words, click on your affiliate links. You can create all kinds of different types of content: Written reviews of the products you're promoting Video demonstrations showing the products in action Tips & tricks for using the products Buyer's guides for choosing the right product The more content you have, the better, so you can also combine different types of content on your site. 81 For example, you might have a video showing a product in action, and link to your complete review from there. The review gives more information about the product itself and then refers the reader to your affiliate link where they can purchase it. You can target as few or as many products as you want, too. Using our golf example, the GolfEquipmentReview.org website could have new content added on an ongoing basis. When new clubs are released, you could write about them. If Tiger Woods releases a new clothing line, that could be something else that gets added to the website. Over a period of time, the website will continue to grow, with more and more opportunities for your visitors to click one of your affiliate links and generate a commission for you. Promoting Your Website "If you build it, they will come" doesn't apply on the internet. There are millions upon millions of websites and if you simply build a site and wait for people to find it, you're going to be disappointed. To generate any revenue from your website, you're going to need traffic. In other words, real people who are visiting your site and clicking through on your affiliate links. There are many different techniques for getting traffic, with entire training courses on just one or two methods. There's no way we could cover them all in this report, but we're going to look at several that require little or no technical knowledge and can be done absolutely free. Facebook Facebook is a huge potential source of traffic, with over 900 million registered users at the time of writing this. 82 to use them to promote your website for free. We'll do this through a Facebook Page. You can create a Facebook Page for your website, or about the topic that you're targeting. This page can be used as a "hub" for staying in touch with other people interested in the same topic. Creating a Facebook Page is a simple process. When you're logged into Facebook, look in the bottom right corner of the page for a link that says "Create a Page." You might need to click the "More" link to see it. Once you click the create link, Facebook will walk you through the steps to create the page. There's not much too it, and it is all pretty self-explanatory, so don't worry if you've never done it before - it's quite straightforward. Once you've created your Page, you can post things to it just like you post things to your own timeline. Anyone who is a fan of your page will see those posts in their timeline. Getting people to like your Facebook Page (become fans) can be done in various ways: Add a link to it on your website so people can "like" your page from there Promote it in other places - Twitter, forums, , etc. Interact with other pages that are related to your market by commenting on posts, liking those pages and so on. Other people who follow those pages will see yours and a certain number of them will likely click through to check it out and wind up liking it You can post links to your website, links to affiliate offers and other things on your page and as you get more and more fans, you'll generate more and more traffic to those places. 83 Twitter is similar to Facebook in that you can post updates and all the people who follow you can see them in their timeline. You can build your network on Twitter in much the same way as Facebook. Search out other Twitter users who post about the topic that your website addresses. Follow them, reply to their "Tweets" and interact with them whenever you can. Some of those people will follow you back, other people who follow them will likely find you and you will be able to post updates for them to see. You can post links to your website, affiliate links, interesting stuff you find and anything else that would be of value to them. Forums Market-related forums are a great way to get traffic back to your website. Most forums let you add a "signature" to your profile, which gets added to the end of every post you make. This signature can include a short ad of some sort, along with a link to your website, an affiliate offer or some other link that will benefit you. Just make sure you read the rules & regulations of the forum before creating your signature. Most forums have rules about what you can and can't do, and you want to make sure you're not doing something you're not supposed to. The key to making forum marketing work is that you have to be a contributing member of the forum. You can't just pop in and write a post or two every so often. People won't get to know you and they'll probably think you're only there to promote the link in your signature (and they would be right!) Instead, check in on a regular basis. Respond to other people's posts, answer questions where you can and create new threads of your own. Building a relationship with people this way will work much better, because they'll get to "know" you and trust you - making them much more likely to click through to see what you have to say on your website, or learn more about the product you're recommending in your signature. 84 Blog Commenting Blog commenting is similar to forum marketing in a lot of ways. Find several popular blogs in your market and spend some time each day commenting on posts, responding to other commenters and generally taking part in the conversation. Most blogs will let you enter a website address when you leave a comment and it will link your name to that address. You can include your own website here or an affiliate link of some sort. As with forum marketing, just make sure you're adding value to the conversation. Don't just say things like "Great post!" and expect to get any results. People aren't going to click on your link if you just write stuff like that, and the blog owner might even remove your comments altogether. These are just a few of the many different traffic generation methods you can use. If you d like to learn more about the various ways to get traffic, there are lots of training programs out there, some that are specific to certain methods and some that cover many different techniques. It's really not that hard to start earning regular affiliate commissions. The hard part is to stick with the process and don't look for shortcuts. 85 Some of those systems will be legitimate and some will be smoke and mirrors. But if you let yourself lose focus on what you're working on, you'll never see the results you want. Stay focused on the goal and don't believe all the "push button" systems that you'll see. It might take a bit of time, and may even a few attempts, to get the results you want but you will get them if you stick with it and learn from your experiences. Where To Find Affiliate Offers There are a number of large affiliate programs, or networks of more specialized offers, that you can use to find offers related to virtually any topic. Amazon.com Associates Program Amazon carries products in many different categories, and you can promote nearly all of them as an affiliate. The above link takes you to their US website. If you're targeting other countries, most local Amazon sites (Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.uk, etc.) have their own programs that you need to sign up for independently. ebay Partner Network The ebay Partner Network is similar to Amazon, in that you can promote products in all kinds of different markets. EPN is a good program, but be forewarned that it is difficult to get accepted and can take some time. If you want to sign up as an ebay affiliate, you should have an existing website that you can include in your application (and it should be high-quality, both content- and design-wise) and you should be prepared to wait for some time before being accepted. Commission Junction Commission Junction is a network that manages the affiliate programs for many other companies. You can find offers in various markets here. As with ebay, it's best if you have a website already up and running before applying. Many vendors will only work with you if you have something to show them when applying. 86 Linkshare Linkshare is another network that handles the affiliate programs for many other companies. Once again, it's a good idea to have a website up and running before applying with Linkshare ShareASale Another network that works with vendors in various markets. ShareASale is not as difficult to work with as the previous couple of networks, so it's not as critical to have your website up and running prior to applying. Clickbank Clickbank focuses mainly on products such as ebooks and other digitally delivered items. They handle the affiliate program for products in all sorts of different markets and niches, so if your market is one that is suited for information products, this can be a good place to find offers to promote. Their sign-up process is fast and straightforward with no real need to have your website up and running prior to joining. Private Affiliate Programs Many companies run their own in-house affiliate programs that won't be listed in any of the above networks. If there is a specific product or service that you would like to promote, check their website to see if they offer an affiliate program. There will usually be a link to it from the home page or from the site map. If you don't have a specific product in mind but want to find offers related to your market, the easiest way is to search Google for keywords in your market plus "affiliate" or "affiliate program." 90 Research Your Niche Further You ve chosen your niche, but you need to figure out what your niche within your niche is going to be. What is it about you that is going to make people want to listen to you? What do you bring to the table? You can make a lot of headway, very quickly, if you find a specific and smaller part of the larger niche that you can tackle. For example, maybe you want to focus on helping small business owners with their mindset. This is a smaller sub-niche of the entire small business niche. Plan Your Funnel Your overall goal will be to funnel traffic to your opt in forms so people sign up for your list. It can be very helpful to get an overall view of what your funnel will consist of, before you get started. You ll be driving traffic to an opt-in form. People will sign up through this form because they want something you are giving them. You re going to be giving them an offer, for free, that s so great they simply can t pass it up. After you have people on your list, they will automatically receive the messages you have preloaded into your autoresponder. Some of these messages will be informative and relationship building. Other s will be promotional in nature. You can promote products you own or products you are marketing as an affiliate. Set up Your Squeeze Page You need to create a squeeze page as part of this process. This is a page that is solely dedicated to getting people to sign up for your list. On a squeeze page, you will include the opt in form you get from your autoresponder company. You will also include bullet points that spell out the benefits of signing up to receive your free product. You can include a headline, a picture of yourself, and other interesting and reassuring bullet point text and images. Here is an example of a squeeze page Write Some Autoresponder s You should load several s into your autoresponder. When you first get started, I recommend you write and load around seven. The first one should be an introductory message. Though, you can also choose to send people straight to a paid offer (upsell) after they sign up for your list. After the first , you may want to rotate relationship-building s with promotional s. Play around with it and see what converts for you. You can find different affiliate offers your audience will be interested in. Promote those products in your s really build up to the sale by selling them on the benefits.
