4 Reputation Building In this course, I am going to explain how to run an offline reputation management business. You can work as a consultant and help offline businesses build and strengthen their online reputations. This training consists of four sections. In Section 1, I ll give you an overview of working in reputation management. Section 2 covers reputation prospecting and Section 3 explains how you can build reputations. In Section 4, I will explain how to create a customer review report. 3

5 Section 1 - Reputation Pro 101 Business owners need to monitor their reputations. However, most don t know how to handle this task on their own. Typically, businesses turn to a consultant for help. As a consultant, you will find negative information about your client s business, and then present it to him. You can actually make a lot of money doing this. Finding Clients Before you can start making money, you have to find clients. It s a good idea to pick a niche or an industry before you seek out clients. Then, you can find clients within that niche. Some popular industries for reputation management are: Lawyers Real estate Dentists Hospitality Contractors Laser surgery Once you decide on an industry, you need to go to Yelp.com. Yelp is a customer review site, so it is a great starting point for checking out a company s reputation. Once there, you can search for the type of business you are interested in representing. For instance, if you want to represent restaurants, you will search for restaurants. 4

6 You will choose a company that has a lot of reviews. You ll need to take special note of the first several reviews on the page, since they are the ones that will stand out to people who are searching for that type of business. Additional Research Before you approach a company, you will need to do some additional research. You can conduct the research at GetListed.org. Go to the site. Once there, fill in the company name and zip code. Click Check My Listings. It will show you the company s reputation. It will also show you all of the directories the company isn t using. You can use those directories to get the company more traffic, and to help build the company s reputation. Now let s move on to the next section, where I will cover reputation prospecting. 5

7 Section 2 Reputation Prospecting In this section, I m going to explain how to get clients. If you use these techniques, you should be able to build your business relatively quickly. Customer Review Report Before you approach a business, you need to create a customer review report. You will give the business this report. There are four steps involved in creating this report. 1. Collect the bad reviews. 2. Use GetListed.org to see the company s reputation listing and to find out what directories it isn t using. 3. Take screenshots. 4. Create the report. You can also make a video instead of creating a written report. You can use screen capture software to show the company the reviews. Not only will this allow the company to see their reputation, but it will show them that you can shoot videos. Then, you can offer that service to the company as well. 6

8 Fill out the Report Don t just put the screenshots in your report. You want to explain the reviews and the company position. You also want to make recommendations. I will cover this in detail in Section 4. Reputation Technique Once you create your report, you need to use a special technique to contact the business and get your foot in the door. You need to the company and let them know that they are losing business because of their reputation. Wait until they respond. Then, attach the reputation report and mention that businesses usually pay $3,000 for these reports, but you are giving it to them for free. This will help you gain the company s trust. It will also show them that you can help them. Follow Up After a couple of days, send a follow up . Attach the report once again, and remind the recipient to look it over. Now let s move on to the next section. 7

9 Section 3 Build Reputations In this section, I m going to talk about actually working for your clients. I m going to cover services, prices and outsourcing. Offer Services If a business responds positively to your report, you will need to set up a meeting with the manager so you can go over the services you offer. There are lots of services you can offer that will build up a company s reputation. First, you can create a video with all of their good testimonials and put it on their website. You can also put the video on YouTube and make it go viral. Additionally, you can optimize the company s Facebook page and create a reputation video. Be sure to get the video optimized for search engines. Charging Your Clients You will also need to come up with a price to charge your clients. If you don t know how much to charge, I recommend starting at $197 for your initial services. You can charge less for fewer services. You can also test out prices. Try higher price points to see if businesses bite. If they don t, you can always come down in price. 8

Outsourcing You can get a lot more done if you outsource some of your reputation management tasks. Then, freelancers can do the work for you. If you want to outsource you can use: Elance.com Fiverr.

You will have access to thousands of freelancers that you can hire on a project by project basis. Go to Elance.com and click Post Your Job. 9

11 Then, you will need to create an account. Fill out the form and click Continue. At that point, you will be ready to post your job. Use this in the job description: Fiverr We are looking for someone who can compile bad reviews about a business and compile this into a 7-10 paged report and a 2-3 minute video. The report must show where the company is positioned online in terms of reputation and the directories that are missing for their business. The video must be a summary of the report. I am hoping to hire someone long-term so please only apply if you are serious about this position. Fiverr is full of freelancers who are willing to do a job for $5. You can outsource a task to someone on Fiverr. You won t be able to get the entire project done for $5, but you will be able to get a task or two done. If you want to use this service, login to Fiverr and search for company reputation or my company s reputation. 10

12 Once you find some providers, check the person s reviews. Only choose someone who has a 100% quality score. 123Employee This is a good site if you want to find someone to work for you full time. If you use this site, you will outsource to people in the Philippines. Now let s move on to the next section, where I will go through the steps you need to create your customer review report. 11

13 Section 4 Create a Customer Review Report Now I m going to take you through the process of creating your customer review report. First, I ll take you through the research, and then I ll show you how to compile the results. Step 1 Find Customers on Yelp The first thing you will need to do is find customers on Yelp. Go to Yelp.com and fill in the business type and city. For instance, let s say I want to find restaurants in Jackson, MS. I would type restaurants in the search box and Jackson, MS in the Near box. Then a list of businesses will come up. Each business has a star rating based on its reviews. Step 2 Find a Customer with a Lot of Reviews Next, I want to find a business that has a lot of reviews. Once I find one, I will click on the business. Then, I can see the reviews. 12

Step 3 Take a Screenshot I want to find a business that has some bad reviews listed near the top of its Yelp listing. Once I find such a business, I will take a screenshot of it.

I ll use Snagit to take the screenshot. This is just one option, though. Step 4 Start a File for Your Report Now I need to start a file for my report. Once I create the file, I ll put the screenshot in it so I can use it for my report. Step 5 Go to GetListed.org Next, I need to go to GetListed.org. Once there, I need to enter the business name and the zip code. I ll use the same business I found on Yelp. I can pull the zip code of the Yelp Listing. Then, I will click Check My Listing. A pop up will come up. I can close out of it without signing up. Step 6 Analyze and Snapshot Now I need to analyze and compile results from GetListed.org. First, I need to look at the snapshot. It has the listing score, along with a list of directories that the 13

15 company is and isn t using. I need to take a screenshot of this page and put it in my folder. Step 7 Click on the Reviews Tab Next, I need to go to the Reviews tab. It has reviews from different sources. I need to look for negative reviews. Then, I need to take a screenshot of the page and put it in my file. Now I m ready to make my report. I am going to create a report based on my findings for Business X. I m going to say that my company name is Offline Reputation Builders. Sample Customer Review Report 14

Compile positive testimonials on a video and have it go viral on YouTube. 3. Optimize your Facebook account. 4. Set up a system where customers can leave reviews immediately. 5. Distribute a reputation video. 6. Utilize Foursquare for check-ins.
